I was so close to my registration date I had no option but to take my lunch break and try to find somewhere to get a smog. I went to 2 different shops both estimate high wait times and prices. I circled around the area and ran into AV Smog. The location is convenient and easy to get in and out of unlike most businesses in the area. There were customers there already but an employee came right out to my car, greeted me and estimated no longer then 15 minutes. I was quoted a price, he took my paperwork, finished up with the car before me and got me in quickly. The smog took no time at all, the employee (AJ) was knowledgeable about my vehicle and additional concerns I had. He was friendly and answered my questions professionally. The price was great compared to the quotes I previously received. Most importantly, I didn't feel taken advantage of like I do at most automotive shops being a woman. I went today about when the place was closing and Mr Tim and another man that works there I think he is the owner were very nice and helpful with our car. Our car was over heating and didn't want to pass the smog check at first so it got to the point where they stayed until 7 till 730 helping us with our car. Very nice people. This place is bad. They dont tell the truth. I went monday, the dyno was broken. I called tuesday they said it was fixed. I went, still broken. On top of that they opened my door into the wall and messed up the paint... and denied doing it. I watched you dummy! Not impressed with this place. They attempt to be funny instead of providing quality service. I witnessed them tease a young girl into thinking she needed a new catalytic converter. In fact she was on the phone with her dad and the technician asked her to hang up and then he told her he was only joking. I told her to call her dad back and tell him it was a joke. Very dishonest/unethical. They charge you for unnecessary adjustments. I now take my car to Quartz Hill smog on 50th Street west. Careful if you are someone who doesn't know much about cars or if don't speak English. They will take your money ruthlessly. This place should be investigated by consumer affairs. Decided to take my vehicle here for a smog check based on the good reviews and overall the experience was good. The service was quick and the staff was quite pleasant. Unfortunately, my vehicle had an aftermarket intake on it that did not meet California requirements, which resulted in a retest. Once the OEM equipment was back on, all good. Most dishonest, underhanded, deceitful business I have ever had the displeasure of dealing with. I went to get my car smogged and called ahead to ask if the coupon on their website was still valid and whether I could just write down the coupon code instead of printing it out. The person on the phone said it would be fine, just mention the coupon when I arrive. When I arrive, both of the employees deny having any idea what I am talking about, saying they remember no phone call about the coupon. I had only called about a half hour earlier making it very unlikely they had swapped staff. Instead of the $30 I was promised with the coupon over the phone, they now wanted me to pay $58 and basically took it for granted I would just buckle and pay it because I was already there. Having called several shops for prices I figured perhaps I had went to the wrong one so I called the same number while I was sitting in their office. The second the phone rang I knew they were just lying to me. I stood up and told them I was promised $30 on the phone and I will not do it otherwise. They gave in and said it would $38 because they would need to electronically send the smog report to the DMV which would explain the extra 8 dollars. I shouldn't have even caved to that but I accepted it just to get it over with. Lastly, while I am sitting in their office waiting, the youngest of them came in and was mumbling under his breath about how 50 dollars isn't even that expensive which he clearly thought I could not hear. Not ONLY did they go out of their way to deceive me but they have the gall to whine about not getting me to fall for their scam under their breath while in the same room as me. I have never been more disgusted with a business in my life and if the BBB wasn't a huge scam itself, I would report them. read more

Not happy with service on 1/9/2017. I called the friday before and asked how much they charged. I have an older car and made them aware of that. He quoted me a price of $39.95, which i didnt really believe, but went anyway. They took an hour to smog test my car. When i asked about the quote, they said $39.95 is only for 2000 and newer cars. When i asked what was taking so long? They said, oh your car needs alot of work. I said what kind of work? They said, oh, pvc valve, timing belt, you know. I just had timing belt replaced. I know they were trying to snowball me. Charged me $68.50. Will never go there again. read more

I just this smog station where i brought my mother's car to be smog tested. it is unclear why they would not honor their own coupon (the cououn is not expired, the flimsy excuse i was given was the coupon should have been presented before the work was done). What difference does it make when it was presented. My belief is that this company put out the coupons to bring in customers , only to rip them off. I only chose this business because I found a coupon online for a $29.99 smog check and needed one done quickly. When I arrived, the person having me fill out the forms barely spoke a word to me. I made sure he knew I had the coupon and it was clearly noted on the estimate I signed. About 20 minutes later, another man came into the office and told me it was done and I owed $60. I told him I had a coupon for $29.99. He said that was correct, but since my car passed it was $60. I stood up to look at the invoice he was referencing and went one item at a time - "$21.99 for the test, $8 for the certificate and what else?" "Um...nothing." And he started laughing. I can't imagine how many unsuspecting or meek customers he has swindled like that! Warning: The worst Smog place in the AV!! WARNING: THE WORST SMOG PLACE IN THE AV!!!! 1 Star because I have to put something!!!! I have taken 2 vehicles here and they failed both of them. This last time was an accident taking it there from an employee of mine. After finding out it failed and I took it to my other technician he showed me proof that they don't know what they are doing and are not performing the Smog Test to code. It clearly stated on my vehicle exactly what my technician said an that AV smog just half assed it!! Now that it failed they want you to retest!!! I confronted Mr Haddad and he told me with his bad english skills "THATS the way it is" and pretty much kicked me out after proving to him on paper that he isn't performing the Smog Test to code. I asked for compensation on my $69.95 that he charged and he laughed!! All they want is your $$$ and you to retest to pay again!!! Most horrific experience I've ever had anywhere!!! Okay so I went to get my car smogged friday. first he told me that he didn't need to hook it up to a dyno because it was too old. I told him that you can't leave my car running because it gets hot. After a few minutes he's like okay I do need to hook it to the dyno I said okay whatever just do it. Then I went to check my engine temp and it was to the freaking red line!!!! With the temp gauge on. I was yelling what the hell!!!! So I turned off my car and they acted like I was a psychopath cause I was pissed. They yelled at me saying we need to get this smog done you have to leave the car on. I was like uhm no, I'm not going to let you blow my engine up so you can smog my car. And they brought a big fan over and were like well you can turn the car on now I said no please close my hood I'm leaving. I don't want to do it anymore. He dropped my hood from the very top!!! I sat there for a few minutes to let my car cool off and they were just staring at me like uhm why are you here so I got out and pushed my car out to the parking lot and sat there for a minute and turned on the heater and my temp went down. Oh and while I was sitting there waiting for my car to cool down in their bay they turned off the fan. read more
