I really like this salon. It is large and bright and has many nail techs. They have massaging chairs for pedicures. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I can't really comment on the other techs, since I have my one go to girl that I've been seeing for over a year.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] But the people getting their nails done on either side of her always have really nice nails too. I like that I can get a design on my nails and that they have a lot of colors to choose from. I always get dip powder and it lasts for several weeks and never lifts off or peels. I got a regular manicure, no gel. The technician brought out his dremel tool and GROUND OFF THE SURFACE OF MY NAILS. I had started with no polish so no need at all to remove anything. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I found it odd but didn't realize what the repercussions would be.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Now I have nails that barely get beyond the ends of my fingers before they tear at the sides. Firstly I'm not the kind of person that likes to complain unless I've been pushed too far. I've been getting manicures and pedicures for 25 years on a regular basis. I bring in my own chrome powder, because most salons don't carry every color of chrome powder. I pay well $100+ to have a dip manicure and regular pedicure plus a $20 tip every 4-5 weeks. The first three times I went in, I got a different technician each time. They were all very nice ladies but within 7 to 10 days my nails would crack, chip, and peel. I decided to give them one more try so I went in and talked to the man at the reception desk and I told him every time I go in my nails don't turn out right. He assigned me to Kate who did a GREAT JOB the first two times. however on the third time I noticed she did not put my nails under the ultraviolet light after each coat. I think she had forgotten this very important step, so she put my nails under the light AFTER applying all the coats. I had a gut feeling that my nails were going to start chipping and peeling, and low and behold they did within 10 days. I decided to go back in and get the problem corrected. I'm a very busy person, and it takes a chunk out of my day to go back in and get this issue corrected. [[HIGHLIGHT]]When I finally got back in to see her, she blamed the peeling/chipping on my chrome powder! She refused to acknowledge she made a mistake, and to add insult to injury she told me she would charge me the next time this happens, and refused to use my chrome powder.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I felt like a little child being scolded. i've been going to Sophia at Ava nails on Everglades Lane for the past two years and always had a positive experience except for the last two times. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Today is the last time I will be requesting Sophia.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I had a dip manicure by Sophia, when I get to the register I was charged $50 instead of $45 and when I questioned it, she said it was because my nails were long which they are not, I just measured and they are only 1/4 of an inch. I've never been charged this before. The gentleman at the register questioned Sophia and she confirmed that they were long when I ishowed him my nail length and he questioned Sophia. I told her ia five dollars worth losing a customer of over two years and her response was OK and walked away so I will not be returning to her. The worst experience I've ever had getting my nails done. Ruby spent only 15 minutes on an acrylic refill, then sent me to my nails before applying polish. I noticed a couple of areas that hadn't been properly filled and asked her to fix them. She worked on them, found another, and sent me back. I found three more areas that hadn't been properly filled. I left without finishing because I am convinced that these nails are going to pop off. I have to have them done somewhere else because I am leaving town soon and don't want to deal with them on my trip The receptionist told me she was going to charge me $30 for the service, and then she charged me $35. Fortunately, I was taping her when she said this. I disputed this entire charge on my credit card as the service was not properly provided and sent a copy of the below pictures. Expensive and deceitful. Charged me $10 for a tiny chip on my toe by using an acrylic fill that that they did not say they were charging extra for. Do you know what I paid for an acrylic repair on that same toe up North??? Nothing!!! I paid nothing! They just fixed it for free as it should be. This business is taking advantage of their customers. I will not return and by the looks of the place and the lack of customers in there neither are others. I will also be spreading the word. Went twice for acrylic fills, first time was the owner I think and the nail lengths were not even but it was an ok job. The second visit was with the guy sitting in back (tony?), fill & pedi. Technicians are good. However, there needs to be a receptionist to handle the calls and appointments. If all techs are busy, you can stand and wait a while before anyone acknowledges you. Morning appointments are best if you don't want to wait 30 minutes for an available tech. read more
