This a family-owned business and they've got to be some of the sweetest people I've met in a while. The shop is spotless. But the DONUTS- my god! They are HUGE and not overly sweet or mushy. The glazed yeast are better than Krispy. They kept well, and were still delicious the next day. Check this place out, it will be worth it! I've had most all of the donuts in Asheville and these are top notch. The texture is perfect and the flavors are great. The price is reasonable especially compared to Vortex. They are a bit sweeter than I prefer but not as sweet as Krispy Kreme so that's a bonus. With their long rectangular donuts, they custom fill with whatever filling you choose. The dounuts are so fresh, fluffy, and baked to absolute perfection...other proffesional bakers would be hard pressed to meet this level of quality. Wow....just WOW. D.E.L.I.C.I.O.U.S One of my co workers brought these into work today for a going away party. I wouldn't say that I'm a donuy enthusiast or anything but I have eaten donuts all over asheville and the surrounding area. My daughter even works in a donut shop. These donuts are simply divine. They are large and very filling. The donuta is pillowy soft and so fresh with a perfectly sweetened glaze. I will definitely be heading into this shop for a sweet snack in the coming weeks. These doughnuts are absolutely amazing! Huge, well priced, and some of the best I've ever had. The glazed doughnut was light, fluffy, and perfectly sweet. The Bavarian cream filled doughnut was a special treat because most have chocolate icing which I hate and theirs don't. I finally made it to Ava's. Always happy to support LOCAL businesses. Tried 3.....began with the yeasted glazed, where I usually begin at a new donut shop. Good rise. Would have LOVED more crispness(fry) on the outside and thicker glaze. So, it was just alright, but not the best glazed donut. Had the sour cream old fashioned. Probably the best of the 3. Still alright. Then had the chocolate covered Bavarian cream filled. Not a fan of their Bavarian cream. Weird texture. All in all they seem to have a big and growing fan based, which I am happy for. If you need a box of fancy assorted doughnuts go for it. I'll get my glazed doughnuts elsewhere. read more

Amazing donuts and fresh at 3:00. Great texture thought the donuts, we had glazed twist, apple fritter and a round glazed cinnamon. We must have come at the perfect time which you wouldn't think at 3 in the afternoon they would have been made that morning and started to dry out. I'm somewhat gluten intolerant but I go off the wagon once and awhile and glad I did for Ava's donuts. We had some left over for the next morning and they were still fresh! I love donuts and Ava's is really the best in Asheville. Very reasonably priced compared to the other boutique donut places. The cinnamon crumble and glazed are my favorite but I also like to get a jelly filled or Bavarian cream. Sometimes they sell out but that just makes me happy for them.
