Came by when we were just walking around town shops, I got a caramel apple cider and my bf got a…read morecookie and slushie. My caramel cider was amazing. Perfect for the weather. It definitely could have been mixed a bit more because a lot of caramel was concentrated on the bottom but it was amazing. I'd go back for more. The slushie on the other hand was meh. I think it needed more flavoring added. The cookie was good as well. The girls were really nice at the counter. Overall I'd be back maybe even to try the butter beer thing they had advertised on their board I didn't see until after getting cider. Prices were also reasonable too which is definitely a win!

What a smell! And I mean that in the most coffee-loving way possible. I had such a delightful…read moreexperience in the Smoky Mountain Coffee Roasters. My crew had two drip coffees, strawberry slushie, and a blueberry and cheese danish. They have multiple carafes of drip coffee available, and I settled on the Breakfast Blend. The service was excellent, from the person who helped us with the danish, to the person who helped my kiddo decide on their drink. But the best service was to have an encounter with the coffee roaster himself. We were able to witness the original, untreated coffee beans, with their greenish hue. We could then see the vat with the roasted bean and compare. To our luck, we only had to wait 10° to see freshly roasted beans come out! Who needs any other entertainment when you can learn about where your coffee comes from and how it goes from start to finish. We actually came here for their whole bean coffee, and everything else was an unexpected bonus. We picked the Organic Guatemalan Roast, since we are creatures of habit. They ground our coffee for us, we paid, and went off on our journey a little more relaxed than when we came in. Definitely a place to stop when you're in the area. We love their coffee and their hospitality.

Pisgah Bakehouse was a pleasant surprise. I was driving the Blue Ridge Parkway and heading to…read moreBrevard to get something to eat. Since Brevard is a small town, I wasn't expecting to find such a good bakery, but the baked goods looked delicious as soon as we walked in. In addition to the bakery items, they also have a dining room. Since it was between lunch and dinner, we were told to order at the counter, and the only things available were salads and pizza. We ordered a sausage pizza and a Caesar salad, which turned out to be the perfect-sized lunch. Both the pizza and salad were delicious. We sat in the otherwise empty dining room, eating lunch while I watched the bakers working in the back and kept eyeing all the baked goods. Before leaving, we picked up a few goodies for the road. Pisgah Bakehouse is definitely worth the stop, and I'm glad we found it.

Unfortunately this place tends to be a miss for me…read more My experience with service is consistently that they are unfriendly. When you pay $6 for a small pastry, it feels a little bad when they don't say "thank you" or "how can I help you" or "what would you like" ... more than once I've been here and had the experience that I'm bothering the employee just by being there. Bought a cardamom bun today and while I love cardamom this was still an overly strong flavor. Lovely texture, though. I had a specialty croissant a while back when I was in the area and left with it. It was uncooked in the middle so I called to let them know (thinking they would want to pull the remaining ones). Whoever I spoke with was appropriately apologetic and told me next time I was there to tell the clerk that so and so wanted me to have a replacement on the house. A few months later I was in the area again and was met with such hostility and skepticism when I mentioned the "freebie" that I wished I'd never bothered. As for the bakes? Everything really does look good. The lunch menu looks great although I've never had anything. The coffee is nice and strong. Prices are high, but that's everywhere.
