Took my nephew here on an "Auntie spoiling day" and could not have made a better choice! Big, clean facility. They make the doughnuts to order, so when you get them they're WARM (eat your heart out, Dunkin') and the selection! Wow! Delicious options-- nephew got a confetti doughnut, I got a s'mores doughnut, and we got my sister a plain cinnamon sugar. The picture will have the confetti and cinnamon sugar, as I ate mine too fast to get a pic of! So yeah- VERY tasty. Also the service was fantastic :) Very, very nice staff. I'd never heard of Duck Donuts before visiting Charlotte, NC, and I'm glad I tried them. All of their donuts begin as a vanilla cake donut, then different icings and toppings are added based on the menu option selected. I ordered 4 donuts which were Twix with chocolate, Twix with caramel, smores, and blueberry pancake. So for the Twix chocolate, they will dip the donut in chocolate icing then top with Twix pieces. I enjoyed the donuts and they have over 20 different combinations on offer. Something to note. If you sign up for their text alerts, you will receive a buy one get one free reward. I tried using this reward at this location, but the staff member first said not every location has this promotion. I then showed her my phone where it shows the reward for this location where she then replied she doesn't have a button on the register to accept this reward so I wasn't able to use it and paid full price. I didn't catch this staff member's name, but she wasn't the most friendly. However, as I went down to pick up my donuts, Mariah, the other staff member who was super friendly, asked if my donuts looked ok. I told her about not being able to use the reward where she shared they don't have a scanner to scan customer's QR code with the reward and she has notified the district manager about this. We've had these donuts in the Outer Banks, and my main concern here in Asheville was tied to long lines and ridiculous waits. But, at 7:45 AM on a Monday, this location was dead, so it was easy to slip in for a half-dozen and get out unscathed. We did two glazed, a cookies and cream, a maple bacon, a strawberry chocolate drizzle and a French toast. Damn, that French toast was good, and most of the other flavors were on point too. The bacon didn't work for me, but otherwise we were in good shape here. $14 for six donuts feels about right. Service was friendly and it took six minutes to get the donuts from order to boxed and ready to go. That's still too long for a guy like me, who expects to walk in and just be handed a box of donuts. Like seriously. These little ringed beauties were so freakin delicious. My friend and I had the combo with a coffee and 2 donuts. My waistline was happy with 2 but I could have mentally had maybe 4-5 more. Sooooo good The maple bacon was sweet and salty and savory and the s'mores donut was perfect warm. I do wish the donut itself had a little bit more density to it - they gave a little too quickly, so eat these over a napkin or a box. Spacious interior but only 2-3 tables to stand and nibble. To our surprise, they make each donut fresh; you can see them put the dough in the oil, as well as glaze and decorate each order. Although I wouldn't consider these fancy, artisanal donuts, their warm, fresh donuts are delicious. I ordered their coffee and two donut combo; they didn't charge me for upgrading to an iced coffee. The combo came with a large coffee and your choice of two donuts -- I chose the Bacon in the Sun and the Beach. My order came out to under $5. As for the service, the workers were very patient with my party; there was five of us looking through the donut selection because we were new customers. Honestly I am disappointed ...They have no organized system going quite yet. I know they are new but it was ridiculous. It was like a madhouse. You can either order at the counter or order at a kiosk if you've ever been to crumble cookies. I think they kind of stole their concept. But hey, who am I. Anyway I ordered a dozen assortment and a blueberry milkshake. It literally took them 45 minutes to make my donuts and I had to say something to them in regards to my donuts. I even got into it with another customer who obviously didn't know what was going on but had the audacity to tell me to stop yelling. No sir I'm not going to stop yelling. I want my dozen donuts and I want them now! If you're a donut enthusiast like me, then it is what it is. Unfortunately I won't be back. The donuts did not look that fresh. They came out super fresh after your order them, I'd recommend to let them cool down a bit before you eat them or they fall apart too easily. A very generous amount of the icing, every flavor I tried was delicious but flavor they really stood out were maple bacon, blueberry pancake, peanut butter and lemon. Truth be told, I love Duck Donuts. I've been to their original location in Duck, North Carolina when I visited the Outer Banks more times than I cared to admit. Driving back from Asheville to Atlanta, I found one along the way, and you know I had to stop. I got nervous as I pulled in because every photo on Yelp showed a huge crowd- a crowd I was also used to in The Outer Banks. When we arrived it was empty! Praise God! Per usual, the staff were beyond friendly. They thanked us for coming. They thanked me for returning back (even though it was another location) and they answered any and all questions. To me, what I find to be the best part of these donuts is that they're truly fresh. You receive them hot and ready- legit hot and ready to eat. I got their blueberry pancake and their French toast. I love, love, loved the French toast because I love their maple frosting. The blueberry pancake was just as good and the blueberry syrup coating was sweet and tangy and fully covering the donut. At $1.40 for a single donut I really think it's an amazing deal. Probably my favorite donuts around. You can get many more flavors. They aren't cake donuts just as an FYI, but they are delicious. This was my first visit to Duck Donuts - OH MY GOODNESS - why did I wait so long? These are delicious cake donuts, made fresh and you pick your topping. The lemon was my favorite, but I will defiantly be back to try other flavors. Located on Merrimon Avenue, the place is convenient. The staff is friendly and when I told the associate it was my first visit, she did an awesome job explaining how the process works. Giving this Duck Donuts a middling review. Kudos for their Covid precautions. However, because we won't dine inside, not that they have inside seating, it would have been nice if they had their outside tables and chairs outside. We offered to take them out for them but we were told customers are not allowed to do that. The two young girls working were nice enough. One was definitely more knowledgeable and helpful than the other, making suggestions. We got a variety of four donuts, 2 lattes, and 1 espresso. I am very conservative with my stars. Five stars from me means they're very impressive. The presentation and experience alone got them 2 stars. And the other 3 came from the taste. We ordered 5 donuts and two drinks for 13$. (as opposed to Vortex donuts being 4 mediocre donuts and a small latte for 22$). At Duck Donuts, all donuts are made to order, and you can customize them in any way you'd like. We ordered off the menu (because we panic at too many options). We ended up with S'mores, Maple bacon (we added black berry sauce) Lemon with raspberry drizzle, blueberry pancake, and an oreo one. Stars are as followed for the donuts- S'mores- 5 stars (would give ten if I could. Easily the best donut of the day) Maple bacon- 4 stars (bordering on 5) Oreo- 3 stars Raspberry lemon and blueberry pancake- 2 stars. (only because they are both VERY sweet. It would be great for a child or an adult with a sweet tooth, we just aren't those people. personal preference.) Both the girls working there were awesome. The woman decorating them presented them to us and said "does everything look good? would you like me to add anything?" super nice. It was so fun watching the donuts get decorated and you can even watch them come out of the deep fryer. Such a fun experience. First, let me explain how this works. When I first walked into Duck Donuts I was confused when I didn't see baskets of doughnuts on display. I walked up to the counter to see a huge sign on the wall of all the toppings you can put on top of their (always) freshly baked vanilla doughnuts. I learned that there is a note pad on a different counter that you can fill out with your specifications to save time, but this time the lovely cashier helped guide me through the process. I made up a few creations in addition to ordering a breakfast sandwhich doughnut; bacon, egg, & Cheese in a warm vanilla doughnut, topped with maple drizzle and crumbled bacon. (Drool.) Now, let me explain that even though I've always had a strong sweet tooth, I've never been fond of doughnuts.... until now. Duck Donuts has forever changed my perception of this sweet round creation. Their doughnuts are so soft and (dare I say) MOIST. They do not taste like any others I've ever had. WITH all of the possible toppings, the possibilities are endless.
