I like finding a place to get decent morning coffee when I'm on vacation, and Avalon is the place in Cape May. It's self serve, too, so I can approximate the half-caf mix I usually brew at home. Nice folks inside, and a good selection of bagels & sandwiches if you want a little food to go with your breakfast. If you're up early like I am, get a coffee here and you'll have the nearby beach pretty much all to yourself. read more

I ordered a cappuccino and it tasted great. But , the grumpy woman making it put it on the counter and didn't even say " here's your coffee". She NEVER acknowledged it was DONE or MINE. How am I supposed to know. I said "is this mine?" And, she just mumbled mmm-hmmm. I told her I didn't know because she didn't say anything. That didn't get any acknowledgement either. I'm sooo sick of lousy, below-average service everywhere. If you don't like dealing with people, then don't have a job where you deal with the public. Excellent bagels. Crabby service which seems a bit inefficient and they screwed up my order of 6 bagels. For some reason, they insisted on writing down each kind that I wanted, rather than just putting them in the bag... and they gave me the wrong kind for two of them. Good sandwich joint to hit before the Lewes Ferry trip. Consumed their chicken salad sandwich on a toasted garlic bagel. Breath buster and carbo load but worth the calories. Not a whole lot of options as far as coffee goes and it's decent coffee but the girl at the cashier had a attitude and talking really fast so I couldn't understand what she was saying. This is a nice little coffee place with really good breakfast sandwiches and pastries, we tried two different muffins bot were good but the blueberry banana was the best. The coffee was really good too I got the Avalon blend which made for a nice cup to start the day with. I noticed some people complained about the staff here, but the guys who took my order and greeted me and the two ladies who rang me up and gave me my order were really personable. We picked up coffee and food from Avalon twice while on vacation. The service was poor. The woman was not very friendly. Her tone of voice and expressions were not friendly. This is not the kind of service you want on vacation. Please, work on greeting your customers and answering their questions in a nicer tone of voice. Otherwise, the coffee was great. read more

Avalon Coffee of Cape May did some food for my Mother's memorial service and the tray was the first to go. They were respectful and extremely helpful and the display was beautifully designed. They also did a beautiful bagel spread for my sister's wedding day while we got ready. We will be using them again. read more

I love breakfast out and this was in one of the brochures at our condo. They boasted their own homemade bagels but as my boyfriend and I were eating them and drinking our coffee on the lovely front patio, a bakery truck pulled up and a guy ran in with two large brown bags of baked goods so I'm not sure what to think. They sold an assortment of cakes, donuts, and other breakfast breads as well so I'm hoping those were what was in the bags and not the bagels, but who knows. The blueberry bagel was good but no cream cheeses went well with it so I got regular and it kind of overpowered the blueberry taste. Coffee was delicious, I had the Avalon blend. Little birds kept swooping by our table for crumbs and one even ate a crumb directly off of my boyfriend's fingertip so that was cute breakfast entertainment! They weren't pesky like seagulls. Cute little breakfast spot and priced right for what you get, unlike a lot of the other costly places in town! Great view of the boardwalk and beach on a nice morning. read more

Absolutely horrible. Ordered a turkey sandwich and got nothing put a slice of turkey on bread. My boyfriend ordered the Greek Salad Wrap and it came without the feta cheese, the olives, and the roasted red peppers. Basically received an empty wrap. We also got two coffees which might as well been ground up dirt. Lastly the cross contamination in that place is disgusting. I am a cape may local and I was not impressed at all. We thought we would give it a chance and sit outside and enjoy the breeze of the ocean, well we went inside to order and felt as if we were a bother from the moment we walked in to the lady who took our order. When our order came out my boyfriends drink was wrong so the lady who rang us up told the lady who took our order and made it and all she said oh well I don't care like it was no big deal. We are not complainers but that rite there really set me off like to the point I was ready to just leave. I decided to Go back inside to order a sandwich and again it was a bother,the lady who took my order before asked someone in the back who was standing there making unnecessary parfaits to help her as for there were 3 customers behind me and the lady goes I guess if I really have to and then they tell me at check out sorry we are short staffed but yet had 4 people on in a place that it's probably a 20x20 place . Like first of all you people work in a place where you should have customer service and be not miserable like we are a bother... we live in cape may year round and we will not be going back anytime soon... let's just say the people sitting next to us were not to happy with them also... read more

I was anticipating their blueberry bagel since the night before. So when I arrived at their establishment early in the morning to have them say they didn't have any bagels, I was a little disappointed. Apparently, they do not make their own bagels, they get them delivered. Fortunately, I only had to wait 20 minutes; and I'm glad that I did. The bagel was very good, as was their hazelnut cappuccino. Just like other reviews, they were not very friendly, and they did not have any nut free options. I had to go to Zoes around the corner. Zoes is located on Beach just around the block. If you have an allergy, you can not eat there. I never did buy any thing, but wanted to let people with any food allergies know that they are not careful about cross contamination. read more

Went into this place yesterday with my boyfriend.. Who knew it would ruin our whole day. The woman working the counter should not be in customer service, she needs to pull whatever she has shoved up her anal cavity out and put a freakin' smile on. She was a raging bitch. We walked up to the counter and I asked "Are the smoothies low fat?" As there were no ingredients listed on the sign on the wall. The woman replied "Um they're water and fruit so.. Yeah," in the bitchiest voice possible. On the sign with the fruit smoothie flavors, it said "flavor shots! $0.50." So I asked what a flavor shot was and the woman again responded like a total bitch and said that it was a syrup. I said can I get a strawberry banana flavor shot in my smoothie? The woman chuckled and said with her resting bitch face, "Um no you don't want that in your smoothie," and looked at me like I was a total idiot. I then asked what the flavor shots are for then, if they're listed on the sign with the smoothies and apparently don't get put into the smoothies. The woman didn't even respond. Never will I go into this place again, if you want a bagel that tastes like any other bagel in the world there's another bagel place right down the road. Maybe the demon seed will read this and be friendly for once in her life, but I doubt it. read more
