I'm rating Avalon Dental 1 star not because of Dr B, but because of the poor customer experience I experienced from Vicky in his office. I went to Avalon Dental in 2012 and I now have insurance they may accept. I called Vicky twice on Thursday, June 8 to see if they accept my AARP insurance and I gave her my insurance number and the provider phone number. She said said she would find out if Avalon Dental accepts my insurance and call me back, but she never called me back. I'm now searching for a new dentist because of the poor customer service I received from Vicky in Avalon Dental's office. read more

I'm a brand new patient, made an appointment for 7:45am to get a chipped tooth fixed. I arrived on time to a locked office with no one inside and the hours on the door saying they open at 8am. While I prefer to write positive reviews highlighting what companies do really well, I feel obligated to warn others about Avalon Dental. One day after a temporary crown was put in, it fell out. I called, texted and emailed all day to try to get answers. VM said they were too busy to answer the phone so I went to the office which was closed. I ended up going to another dentist the next afternoon who helped me out. Avalon didn't even reach out to me for 5 more days. I was told I could pay the balance of my bill when the permanent crown was put in. The day that the procedure was completed, Bethany texted me saying she's getting ready to send my account to collections for not paying the bill 6 months ago. She also refused to credit the $75 charged to me by the other dentist because I 'should have done something different than go to another dentist'. When asked, the dr just says 'oh, that shouldn't happen', but nothing changes. Bethany rules the roost from 'a remote location' and will let you think her incessant, accusatory, and condescending texts are with the receptionist, Vikki. And now it's been suggested to me that the 'painless fillings' i got were not cavities at all but rather little cosmetic fixes in the back of my mouth that could be billed as fillings. Interesting because I hadn't had a cavity for decades. But since moving to the area and finding Dr B, I suddenly have many that had to be filled 'right away'. I'll never know but I do know I will never step foot in Avalon Dental again. Even after the bill was paid and I told them I wanted nothing to do with them, I had to block their phone number to stop the texts. read more

Here I go, I'm about to say it..... I'm no longer afraid to see the Denist.. Whew, never thought I'd say that. Dr.B & staff are amazing. Friendly, efficient, informative and just down to earth. I was weary of going to Avalon Dental because of all the bad reviews, but because my work was minutes away I went out of convenience. Avalon Dental was notorious for texting and calling me to ask me to book appointments. This was beyond 1 or 2 reminders but repeated calls and texts. I assumed they were just trying to fill their schedule so I never complained but it was annoying and excessive. In March of 2018 unfortunately I picked up one of their call and sure enough they wanted me to make an appointment to come in. I told them, I won't be coming in to their office because I no no longer work in the area and no longer had insurance and I had left that job the previous month. The girl Bethany, was very nice and said that I could still have coverage. She said she would call my previous insurance company and find out. She called me back and said that I'm covered and that she verified with insurance. Again I told her I don't want to come in if I don't have coverage. She reassured me that I would only need to pay for my co pay because Im covered. Fast forward an entire year to April 2019 till current time I continue to receive bills, texts, calls and voice messages from them stating that I need to pay this bill or take it up with my insurance because insurance isn't paying them. I told them this was their doing, they called me, they called my insurance, now it's me that has to figure it out? I didn't even want an appointment. After all this hassle, I can't believe the lack of integrity and common curtesy this clinic lacks. I have reached out to doctor Broschinsky, and explained what happened. I got nothing except more calls and voicemails and bills and advice for me to take it up with an insurance company that I don't even have. Then the manager reached out and said that I can pay half or I would be reported to collections. I asked her if she saw my letter explaining the situation and she said I can send it to her and she's happy to look. I didn't hear back from her and a few days later they reported me to collections. This has taken so much time out of my life and caused me stress. This is the worse way to treat people. Perhaps if they treated people right they wouldn't have to hassle you and call and text so much to try to get you to make an appointment. I'm really disheartened by how they all handled this situation. For me it's about the principle and I stuck to my principle and didn't pay. They could have handled this very differently. I can't see how it could be in their interest to treat patients this way. I'm sorry they don't understand the difference between right and wrong. read more

Our family dentist for the last 15 years from our parents to maybe soon the kids. Funny and very light atmosphere while major and minor services done. Anytime there is an emergency Doctor B always get me in almost same day or next. We also get our cleaning done here about 2-3 times a year and also our invisalign. Getting a few crowns done and not looking forward to it but gladly doing it somewhere done by someone I trust. read more

I fully agree with the review that has 2 stars below. I had a very bad experience with this office and i feel i was really ripped off. I went to the office, because it had very good reviews on help (was researching for a new dentist after moved from another city to San Ramon). when i called the office, i was informed that for new clients they provide the whitening kit for free. so after the first appointment and xrays, the doctor (Cliff B) prepared a "plan" for me. Prior to coming for the second appointment where i was scheduled for 2 fillings, i checked my records and i did myself a graph and schedule when and what was done to my teeth. when i showed up, the doctor informed me that he will be drilling and doing fillings for teeth XX and XY, i rejected and informed him that for the tooth XY i just had a filling done 2 months ago. then the doctor advised he would be doing XX. I should have left at that moment as it means he wanted to drill the normal filling just to EARN SOME EXTRA MONEY from the patient! So all his work for 1 tooth took very little time, i was very surprised, when i came to the receptionist, she said i had to pay for 2 teeth!!! i was shocked and i said that the doctor was supposed to do only one. she ran to ask him and came back saying that it was for the teeth XX and XZ. I was frustrated that the dentist drilled my healthy tooth. the very next day, i ran to another dentist in the area (luckily my insurance agreed to pay fully for this visit when i explained them the situation), after proper xrays and check up, the dentist confirmed that there is some very thin filling on the tooth XZ but not the full regular filling. so it means that Cliff Broschinsky drilled my HEALTHY TOOTH (i have before and after xrays) in order to CASH SOME EXTRA $$ and billed me for the work that was NOT FULLY PERFORMED. Another dentist was shocked, but he also pointed to me that my tooth XX was not properly done, he showed me in the MIRROR the cavities left on the side, not treated at all. (of course, common sense, in such a short time how can one take care of two teeth) another interesting moment is that i was confirmed that they are in network with my insurance, but the bill for my two teeth was way much higher (same type of fillings) than from another dentist that my family was going to in another city (though he was out of network dentist). oh, and when i reminded the receptionist that i was supposed to get the whitening kit as a new patient, she looked at me like i was asking her to give me her kidney. i am thinking about organizing a group of people who had the same problems and GOING ON THE TV SHOW dedicated to revealing the truth about dental tricks we face as patients (something like sending a "secret shopper" to this office might be very helpful). May be it would be a good idea to involve an attorney as well. read more

Dentist didn't even look into my mouth before trying to refer me for a root canal!! Told them I had a cavity and it was hurting pretty bad. Was glad they got me in the same evening but, it was a big game. They took an X-ray then, prescribed antibiotics and ibuprofen that evening instead of filling my cavity and said he would see me the next day. Well, this jerk bated me to have my cleaning before asking, "Did I make an appointment YET with his endodontist buddy." Hadn't said a word about that before. He lied and attempted to pass blame onto everyone else, including me. Had the hygienist ask for him. Wouldn't even look at me. Was a point when he stood behind the chair to talk to me, so I had to break my neck to see him. From the look of his eyes, I felt like he was high on something or drunk. So this guy must have judged the hell out of me, as he decides to fist bump me. Like we're buds or on the same page. We're not. Would like to fist bump his face at this point. My tooth still hurts. Can't sleep. Had another X-ray and he was lying. Not surprised. Typical strip mall dentist. BEWARE! These good reviews sound fake because they are. read more

Most dentists learn their techniques and tools in school and never change. Dr. B is amazing because he keeps up with new advancements in technology and is constantly updating to new and better technology to improve his patient experience and outcomes. I've now referred at least 7 friends family and coworkers to this office. They are so friendly and even text you for appointment reminders and conformation making it very quick and easy. Their pricing is very competitive and they always discus all charges before you pay. Stephanie at the front is the best. Dr. B is gentle and always asks about your comfort level before continuing (I've had a few cavities done and a few really old ones re-done and have never had a needle near my mouth!) I must say that everyone that helped me during this service was excellent. When I made an appointment for some dental work I met the dentist and he was friendly but unprofessional and seemed as though he would have been better suited for a surf shop or something. I made an appointment to have a filling done on one of my front teeth before my wedding and he "fixed" cavities on my molars. One of them was on a bridge that did not even have a cavity on it. I was only there for 10 min and somehow that justified a $650 bill. I will never go back. It seems as though he is a cosmetic dentist and has no medical knowledge at all. Dr. B has been my dentist my whole life, and I can't imagine ever going somewhere else. He is always using the latest technology to make sure any work you need done is easy and painless. I've never once been afraid of the dentist. That being said, I've admittedly never required any major work, only a fair share of fillings, but I think that's a testament to his effective preventative care, since he's been my dentist forever. I love the office staff as well. Stephanie, Shay, Bethany, and Candice have always done a great job explaining what insurance covers and what my portion will be, and they work with me if I can't pay it all at once. I most recently went in to get a cleaning and a Zoom Whitening done for my wedding - and the results were incredible! The assistant, Robby, makes the whole thing super comfortable and easy. I got so many compliments about how white my teeth looked. I'm actually still getting compliments and I got it done 3 months ago. Highly recommend getting a Zoom done for any big events you have coming up. They usually have deals running to make it affordable, too. Just call and ask. I had to find a new dental office as my old dentist stopped taking our insurance so I happened to come across Avalon and when I went for my first appointment I was shocked at how beautiful the office was. When I got my first cleaning and eventually got a numbing shot it did not hurt at all I asked Dr. B why and he said it's because he takes his time when he gives the shot and that way there is no trama to the gums... I was looking for a dental place to have my zoom whitening procedure done yearly, and this is definitely not the place. It took one month to schedule a consultation, and an additional month for the actual whitening session. I was not able to get it done in a reasonable time for my event. Once it was done, my whitening session produced no results and the office failed to return my calls to speak to me about my concern. I also found a male staff dentist to be inapprorpriate--he pretended to jam his elbow down my mouth during my session. I felt harrassed. read more

Wow; I am amazed every time I walk out of Dr. Cliff Brochinsky's office~ My dentist growing up NEVER used novicaine and has made me VERY afraid of dentists . NOT HERE! I explained how afraid I was; and each and every person in the office is so gentle with me, caring and considerate to my 'phobia'. I am dumbfounded as to how I can leave from a root canal and barely know I had any work done-unbelievable! Bravo Dr. Brochinsky and staff. The Dentist and staff are the very Best of the Best. I wish I could give this Dental Office a zero. I spoke to the receptionists at the office before my visit, to make sure my insurance would cover my services. They agreed, and I was looking forward to going to their office. I went for a few visits, and the dentist did a decent job, but I never understood why he wouldn't complete all my dental services at once. I had to come back 3-4 times for something that could have been done once. Each time I went to the office, I would ask the dentist what the balance was, and he would say, "It's all covered don't worry about it". I was kind of skeptical about this, but I guess I trust people too much and took his word. A few months later, I received a bill for $1,000!! I was shocked and frustrated about the issue, so I called the office more than three times. Each time they said they would take care of it and reduce the balance, but my bill would not change. The receptionist are truly incompetent and I had to call so many time to make sure they do their jobs. After a few months of back and forth the bill was reduced but nothing close to what I expected based on the dentists claim, "Don't worry about it, its all covered." With all this back and forth the receptionists have the nerve to call me and leave messages saying I am due for my cleaning. I couldn't believe it. If you want a trustworthy and honest dentist, I recommend you go to a more established, honest, and headache free dentist. Don't waste your time on this dishonest, incompetent, disappointing office. read more

Ok I should have posted a review a long time ago to warn people of this dentist. What I should have done is file a complaint after what this dentist did and request I be reimbursed the $800 I paid out of pocket after finding a new dentist. Not to mention the out of pocket payments to Avalon for work that was probably not needed. I'm guessing Cliff B. actually let some of my teeth decay so that he could bill the insurance. I was his patient for a few years and had a checkup twice a year. At each visit they were always taking x-rays and filling at least one tooth/molar. I have to admit I was suspicious but still returned. On my first visit to my new dentist I was in shock to learn and to see how bad my teeth were. I almost had to have a root canal done on a molar. The dentist took pictures of my mouth and you could visibly see some of my teeth with decay. (These were from behind my upper mouth) And I am someone that visits my dentist twice a year. I could tell my new dentist was a bit shocked and only said that unfortunately there are dentists like this out there. If you are suspicious about this place then you are probably right and need to find a new dentist. I'm surprised Cliff B. still has his license. I know I could have and should have filed a complaint both with the California Dental Board and my insurance. I hope Cliff reads these reviews and does the right thing, do his job professionally and ethically. read more
