Wow, whoa, who came directly from California just to visit this amazing thrift store. I highly recommend we came in here seeking a T-shirt and came out with multiple jackets. This place is the spot!!

It would seem my last review was over four years ago so we needed an update. The store has been refreshed and newly decorated with colorful, retro flowers and dangling mushroom lanterns. So adorable. It is still very open and bright inside which offers a pleasant shopping experience. I also love how everything is so clean and organized. I stick with my originally statement that Avalon is the hip little sister to Dechoes (another local consignment store with more mature/upscale pieces). I understand the aesthetic here and the style they like to buy. It's very much on brand with the younger crowd. I would say they have vintage/90s pieces and some newer styles. They have clothes for Men and Women. Going to other thrift stores you can hunt for these vintage pieces but it's much easier to find them sized and picked for you. I like that they are also size inclusive. I wear XL and they have lots of options. I ended up finding two adorable dresses today and they were reasonably priced. My husband has found a few vintage sports items like a Celtics Jersey. While the store is bright and colorful the employee demeanor is the exact opposite. I removed one star because while the employees clearly know the audience and buy items that sale fast... they are not friendly at all. There are so many people working and no one ever greets you or offers a inkling of customer service.

I love exploring thrift clothing stores and this was a very cool find in Winter Park. Avalon Exchange began in 1988 as a vintage clothing store. They are family owned and operated and have locations in Cleveland, Pittsburgh, Savannah, St. Louis, and here in Winter Park. Avalon buys their clothing from the people who come in so each store reflects its local community. Inventory is constantly changing and includes contemporary, vintage and designer pieces clothing items along with brand new merchandise and accessories. Brands include Forever 21, Adidas, Free People, French Connection, Gap, Polo Ralph Lauren, Gucci, Prada, Anthropologie, Ray Ban, J. Crew, Kate Spade, Chanel, Lily Pulitzer, and North Face to name just a few you might find. The store is very clean, cutely appointed, and expertly organized. They had so many fun bags, scarves, an amazing pin selection, costume jewelry, and stylish sunglasses to finish off your outfit. Come in and sell your gently worn, brand name clothing and then enjoy shopping and refreshing your wardrobe. Even more fun to shop here with your daughter, sister, or girlfriend.

Located across the street from Goodwill Boutique, this is a consignment, and resale shop that seems to cater to the young and hipster crowd particularly. Absolutely nothing wrong with that except that the day we went the clothes just seemed super worn, the kind I personally would throw out, but they're selling it for 12, and 16 bucks; ok. Then at the counter they had a nice variety of accessories and trinkets; the kind you get at Ali-Express for a buck a pack, but they were selling it for a buck a piece.. hmmm.. Maybe I came at an off day and while the decor and vibe of the place is cool, I don't know that I'd return.

I went on a Sunday 9 min after it opened and there was already people in front of me selling. I sold probably 8 pieces and made $18. I got a pin for my tote bag and socks that were half off usually $8.50. They have a good choice of sunglasses and some fun pieces. Place is kinda pricey for a thrift shop. The pins and stickers and clips and jewelry are cool.

Pros: parking right out front, cute and affordable pins and patches, and they have a nice in-shop restroom. Cons: It's a second hand thrift shop but the quality of the items are not worth the prices. The prices here are sooo expensive and a lot of the items showed visible signs of tears and being worn down. They also do not have a plus size selection, so that was disappointing. Additionally, I didn't feel welcomed in this store at all. The moment I stepped in I only got side eyes from the team that was working the front checkout. I was standing at the desk to checkout for a solid 3 minutes before one of the 3 people right at the desk decided to help me checkout. Can't say that I'll be back to this thrift shop.

Looking for a hip thrift store that will take items from your closet that other local thrift stores won't take? If that does not say anything, best believe this is the best resale store in town! Super clean and well-organized store, which is well run. When a personal closet clean-out takes place next, another return to this exchange store will also take place. Best of the area high quality resale shops, for sure.

Young-ish clothes, not high end. A little bit of a disappointment for me. But we had fun looking anyway.

I have wanted to stop at Funks every time I drive by and there is quite the buzz about this place. If I were to categorize this store I would have 3 categories - clothing, used games and vintage kitsch. When you walk in they have a very inviting couch and seating area. Near the front are racks and displays of featured items and a display case/checkout area. The store features a lot of vintage t-shirts, sports jerseys and funky hipster clothing. There is a tag color chart which indicates the price of the item. Management knows their merchandise value and items in the front room of the store have been priced at the going used retail prices. The back room has the bulk clothing bins, used gaming items and vintage electronics and some collectibles. I dug through the bins and found some nice items but only one that I liked in my size. I was afraid there was a minimum of a pound charge but instead my item was placed on a scale and I paid the weight divided by $7 a pound. I found a short sleeve top I liked and paid $2.75. So the bulk bins are a bargain if you can find something you like. The service was friendly and efficient. They accept cards and digital payments. I particularly was drawn to the vinyl albums and they looked like quality in their plastic sleeves to protect the covers. I did not check the condition of the vinyl but if you are looking to add to your collection this might be an option.
