I'm in spring cleaning mode and I've been here a few times to try to sell clothing that need a new home. The location is on a busy stretch of Orange Avenue so your options are off street parking but there are a few spots in the back if you can snatch them up! I was impressed by how huge this store is. It's clean and very neatly organized. If you're selling, head to the right hand side of the counter. You'll have to fill out a slip with your contact info and, if they're not backed up, you can kill time browsing while they go through your clothing to see if they can make an offer. They evaluate each piece for resale value and offer 30% of the retail store value in cash or 45% of the retail store value in store credit. It really is hit or miss but based on the items they sell, they take lots of retro/vintage/designer pieces. You can also get a good idea by browsing their instagram feed. Dig out those old concert tshirts! They're in high demand! Either way, this is a fun store to browse. They have racks and racks for women and even men. Everything is sized accordingly on the racks and not packed like crazy so you can browse through easily. I also like browsing the accessories and don't forget to check out the higher coveted items in the cases at the counter. Pricing is fair and I love that this is a more eco way to shop but you can still be fashionable. read more

BEST THRIFT STORE IN ORLANDO. Today was my first time going in and it was nothing compared to goodwill or plato's closet. The store layout is very big and very well organized. It was spacious but everything had its place and I really liked how the jewelry and accessories were actually on display and well organized for people to look at and try on. I found soooo many archive and unique pieces that were in great condition. The fitting rooms were easily accessible, spacious and clean. I picked out so many things and it only came out to $60. Everything seems reasonably priced for the quality, the most I spent was $20 on a pair of jeans but they fit LIKE A GLOVE and looked like new. I will 100% be bringing my friends here. Sometimes in thrift stores, the larger sizes don't really have cute options but this store had *so many* to choose from. They had everything - women, men, accessories, shoes, jackets, and bags. Absolutely horrible customer service, very disrespectful and rude. I spent $40 on clothes that did not fit and I was not able to try them on in store (due to the fitting rooms being closed) and when I attempted to return them, one of the two workers refused and was nasty about the "policy," so I was unable to make the return. Their instagram even said they're accepting some returns. Not worth your time, bad clothes and a bad attitude. Very disappointing. read more

If you're trying to sell clothes, don't even bother going to the two nearby Plato's Closet locations. Avalon took all of my more unique pieces that Plato's wouldn't and I've already seen them leave the racks at the store. Selling clothes to them was great. If you're shopping here, have a blast! Their items are exactly what I expect and want from a thrift store - cool, edgy, unique, and more. Plus, their racks aren't overflowing and are well organized, making it so easy to shop. Their prices are pretty good, too - I would say they've properly priced items based on their value. I got an adorable shirt that would've been 3x more expensive had I bought it from the original seller so I was pleased! Lastly, the interior design of the store - I LOVED it!!! I'm a little disappointed because I've been here a few times, and honestly their clothes are pretty washed out and worn, but I've still purchased from them and sold to them despite it being subpar to most thrift stores. I was really disappointed this time though, because I brought some never worn allsaints, free people, and Zara pieces. They offered 35 dollars for about 10 pieces. I asked for the allsaints dresses back and they took $10 off the offer (each dress was around $300 and never worn). If you're going to sell quality stuff just go to dechoes so you're going somewhere where they recognize the quality. I don't think this is the place to sell if you really want to resell good non worn out pieces. read more

Rude! Walked in and before I got to the counter I was told we can't use your stuff. I had all on hangers and they look at me to old I guess?? They felt it to fancy for them. Most of the staff are too aloof and immature. They don't take most of what you bring in, regardless how nice and good condition your clothes are. They are very specific to vintage and low-grade clothes. I will admit of how busy the store was the entire time I was in there... they obviously know what their market is. Unfortunately, my style is too sophisticated for their clientele, an observation... not a critics. Unless you're a teen or millennial, don't waste your time trying to consign here. read more

Modern and trendy boutique thrift store. You can buy sell or trade, not quite sure how you trade. When you bring in your items you can opt for store credit or cash on the spot. They look for trendy pieces that are popular now, so don't plan on bringing in t shirts with sweat stains your grandpa used to wear while washing the car in summer and expect to get paid. Unless that were in style, but i don't think it is. Let's wait a year and see. Everything is clean and we'll organized. They keep the high end pieces locked up behind the counter but they will let you look at anything you're interested in. Prices were decent, nothing outrageous. There was brand names and random things mixed together, if you have time it's worth it to go through the racks piece by piece. You may end up finding a treasure. Staff didn't interact much with us even though we were looking at items behind the counter, they just went about their business. They had a ton of sunglasses, shoes and clothes, not many handbags however which is what I usually look for. They offer a lot of brand variety, and most of the items are in good conditions. Both times I've went, their items have been organized very clearly and consistently so it's easy to find the type of clothing item you want instead of thrifting from rack to rack with all sorts of clutter (makes my head hurt when it's like that). The employees are also very nice and helpful all throughout, from fitting room to cashiers :). Incredibly disappointing experience selling clothing here. I washed and steamed two large full bags full of lightly worn or brand new with tags items. Many of which the brands are on their list of brands, and one single t-shirt (not on their brand list) was purchased for $3. I even tried to cater the chosen items to the hipster vibe given off by the store. I will never again bring my good quality consignment items here. What a waste of time. read more

This hip resale shop definitely has curb appeal, for millennials but the staff and overall system and/or selection leaves much to be desired. I've been a few times, and purchased some items, decently priced. They seem to carry some real 'rags' and super vintage items, which I'm assuming is to appeal to the hipsters? That kind of stuff you could easily get a goodwill or Salvation Army at a fraction of the price. What I think is a HUGE eyesore is the mound of bags they have collecting around the registers of items people are trying to sell. It's distracting to the purses, sunglasses, and jeans (located in this area). The process to sell stuff is awful, and the staff is less than friendly. They lack basic customer service skills, and always seem out of it. I thought it was a one time occurrence, but it's been consistent with my visit. I think their overall, disorganized process is overwhelming. If you're trying to sell stuff, be warned. They just throw your bag over in an unmonitored pile (in front of registers) when their done, something could easily be stolen. For someone who enjoys thrift, resale, consignment, antique shops- this is one I won't go back to. read more

I'm a big fan of cheap clothes, good music, and fun accessories. I really prefer Avalon over other resale shops because of the variety of clothing, prices, and atmosphere. I almost always end up buying something, usually a LBD, and am always happy with the price. Today I bought two dresses for less than $20! I used my trade as I had recently cleaned out my closet and still had some money left over to use as store credit. I've found that the variety and prices are a better combination than stores like Plato's or Dechoes. The brands are higher end but you can also find super cute vintage stuff. Even with nicer brands, the prices are way better than other stores. They definitely have my loyalty! read more

If you're looking for a thrift shop that is clean, organized and has moderately-priced pieces, then this is the store for you. The store is very large and spacious and when you first walk in, you can tell everything is very clean by how it smells. They sell lots of items so you can definitely find something to purchase. I bought some shorts and two pairs of shoes. Most of the shoes are in very good condition. My main frustration was that when I tried on 5 pairs of shorts all of the same size, 2 were WAY too big, 2 didn't even go past my knees, and one fit me. I know that this might not be their fault since different brands have vastly different sizing but it was very annoying. Since I go to many thrift and vintage stores, I find this store pretty expensive. However, this is a great place to start for people who aren't familiar with/intimidated by thrift stores. read more

This easiest way to describe Avalon Exchange is a trendier Platos Closet. They definitely have less clothes than plato but you can tell that they specifically only try to sell clothes that are currently trending. All the clothes are targeted more to teens/ young adults. The prices are equal to what you would expect at Platos Closet ranging from $8 for a shirt to $15 for a pair of shorts and closer to $20 for a pair of pants. I would definitely recommend going if you're looking for a specific item that it getting popular on social media. I am definitely going back again. read more

I've bought and sold clothes here, and am a fan. The space is super cute, bright and open, and the clothes are organized and not smashed together on the racks, so you can actually see everything. On my first visit, I brought in a couple bags of clothes and shoes to sell, and walked around and looked at clothes while they went through them. I felt I was offered a pretty fair price for my items, as they were a mix of professional and casual clothes, spanning different brands. It didn't take them long to make me an offer, and I was given cash on the spot. You also have the option to take a store credit. When I came back to shop, I chuckled as I saw a few of my dresses on the racks. I ended up trying a few items on, and bought a top. Again, prices are super reasonable, and they have a small selection of dresses that would be ideal for upcoming holiday events. They also have a good selection of jewelry, sunglasses, and handbags. I've been to this thrift store many many times and I've always been disappointed by the sizes they carry. There are little to no plus sizes for the women's section. However, they do have a great selection of quality jeans! The accessories are a plus as well. They have fun colored/shaped sunglasses and nice belts. Their $1 per item sale was a complete scam. Most racks had really REALLY worn out and just honestly scraps of clothing. I've seen better product quality at Goodwill at probably a fraction of the cost on a regular day. And let me not even get started with their regular priced merchandise. Charging $10 for basic non-branded graphic tees. Their prices did not live up to ANY of their merchandise. Absolutely tragic across the board. Walked in, spent max 20 minutes, left empty handed. What an awesome shop! I found out about them via Instagram and I finally got around to visiting them this weekend. It's definitely one of the best consignment shops in the area. The space is large and clean with a wide selection (men's department was lacking, but I find that to be a common occurrence with consignment shops in the area) As a lover of all things designer and high end, it's wonderful that they have a great selection of higher end pieces at reasonable/affordable prices! I picked up a beautiful DVF wrap dress for $20. Can you say "score"?! I also managed to pick up what seemed to be a brand new Jill Sanders jacket for around the same price. While same people may like the "chaos" of some consignment/vintage shops, I'm not a fan. I know what I like and what I'm looking for when shopping consignment so shopping somewhere that's neat and organized is more my style. Avalon offers just that! This is a great consignment shop located in Winter Park. The store is huge, so there is plenty of selection. There's even a high end section where you can find some luxury goods. If you haven't guessed, the store is about 85% women's stuff, but the mens section isn't too shabby all things considered. Selling your stuff is quick and easy. Just bring it to the counter, and if there's something they want, they will give you 30% of what they sell it for right then and there. I don't know if the pricing is in line with other consignment stores, but it's better than just dropping it off at Goodwill across the street (which you'll do anyway with the stuff that Avalon won't take). This is very nearly everything I'd wish a vintage clothes store to be. Tasteful, low-key decor, friendly staff, spacious and well lit fitting rooms. Enough stock so that there's plenty to look through, not so much that clothing is crammed onto the racks so tightly you can barely see what's there. Size information written clearly on the price tag so you don't have to hunt for the garment label. A good spread of clothing through the sizes--just as much selection for XS as for M as for XL (I did not notice a petite or plus-size section though). Unfortunately, the style range is kind of limited. Obviously the buyer can only choose from what's brought in to sell, but I feel like if you don't enjoy shopping at Urban Outfitters or Anthropologie, you're not going to find much here for you either. Two things I was not impressed by: during the 40 minutes or so I spent browsing, neither of the employees on duty seemed to notice the several items of clothing that had fallen on the floor, even though there were only two other customers in besides myself. Then I noticed that a large percentage of their sunglasses selection came from Forever 21. I know because I had bought (and promptly broke) several of them a couple years ago. New, they were $4. Here they're $10. I don't mind some markup, but a 150% increase on cheap, notoriously flimsy sunglasses rubs me the wrong way. read more

Stumbled upon this thrift shop with a friend of mine and I love it now! They have super great clothing options for super cheap prices. The aesthetic is super cute and the staff is always friendly and willing to help. The bargains are real!!!
