Came by with a Group of friends last night. DJ RM pumping!! I think he did a great job mixing a very good diverse genre. We danced all night. The place was not packed but the dance floor was full. They only had a limited number of beers available and choices were not great. Beers were barely chilled and cost $10-12 dollars. There was no cover charge so at least that was nice. They had plenty of security and I loved that. Staff was very pleasant and I felt safe. read more

Got pulled away from my group on a false accusation because someone said I was putting things in peoples drinks. They took a photo of my id and didn't even ask for my side of the story. MEANWHILE I was helping a girl in our group get away from someone trying to rub up on her. Way to bring down the atmosphere for my gfs bday and her friends. I was at the bar maybe twice, dding for her, had one drink. I just about flipped my pockets inside and out. Absolute b.s. I understand they're taking that seriously but wtf. The Avalon that was in Boston was so much better than the Avalon that is now in the Mohegan Sun. Avalon Boston had world famous DJS every weekend. Now the Avalon in Mohegan Sun just has local djs that play the same boring cheesy radio station music every weekend. An absolute let down from Boston to Connecticut. read more

Been here in the past. Last time was maybe 5 years ago. Post pandemic the whole club scene has been changed. People just don't do the club thing as much. Sound system at Avalon probably one of the best l have ever experienced. Crowd was not the coolest but people were having an ok time. DJ was not particularly that good. I was in a boot because of surgery with my friends around 9pm and was kicked out of sitting on the edge of the seat near the dance floor where no one was sitting. The area is held for people to buy the table but it was basically empty, with no one buying the table at that time. They offered to allow me to sit in the "free" section; however, this was far away from my friends on the dance floor and concerning as i was a single women who would be sitting alone. My friend offered to pay, but they wouldn't even tell us how much it was. It was a bad look for Avalon and a bad look for Mohegan. Do better. read more

DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY. I will actually pay you not to go to this place. The manager needs to be reported and / or investigated. He is homophobic and can't even speak to his clientele. In addition to awful management, the club was EMPTY! COMPLETELY EMPTY on a Saturday night! The music was OK and the bouncers were actually very nice! You are much better off going to the bar with the mechanical bull or any other place at Mohegan Sun -- much, much more fun and a better crowd! Once again, I want to emphasize that the Manager is homophobic. I have never experienced homophobia until I spoke with him. He kicked me out of the club because he was "uncomfortable serving me". The bouncers said I was wearing shorts and was being a disturbance. If Avalon were to look into the videos, I was sitting at the table (by myself and waiting for my friends), looking at my phone (most likely TikToks) and then even talking to the girls 24th birthday who was sitting next to us (super cool group of friends!). I was also wearing a short-sleeve button down with black jeans and dress shoes. Mind you -- there were other girls sitting at our table who I didn't know and they did not ask them to leave or even come up to them to confirm if they were at the table. It's a nice nightclub but the crowd it brings can be a little strange. In particular, this one boy (who referred to himself as "Matty V") got a little too rowdy with our group. The staff did a great job of removing him from the club after seeing we were uncomfortable. Drinks are reasonably priced as well! read more

Awful establishment. I tried to go tonight after a concert at Mohegan sun arena, I was wearing designer pants, and a button down and an extremely expensive jacket. And they told me I'm not allowed to entire because I was wearing a suit jacket. So they sell bottles with bottle service for crazy prices but won't let people dress nice there? It's a nightclub in a casino - could be better, could be worse. I've been twice, once years ago as part of a bachelorette party, and most recently for the kickoff event to New London Pride. As far as a Saturday night bachelorette party goes, meh. It's dancing and weak mixed drinks - nothing too exciting. Still, it was a decent venue for Pride - a great crowd, DJ, dancing, and drag show. There are a couple bars so it didn't take long to get a drink, and plenty of casual seating/high tops beyond the bottle service booths. I don't anticipate coming back here any time soon, but it was a good spot for an event kickoff. read more

I'm not a frequent clubber, but this place takes the cake as lamest place to have fun I've been in. Around 1 a.m., I was kicked out for "swaying" by a male staff member when, actually, I was on my phone on a popular app called Grindr swerving my hips to the pounding music. For those not knowledgeable about Grindr, it's a social app used by gay men. Apparently, this is grounds to kick out a male from their club. Shortly before I was asked to leave, two women fought with each other in the middle of the dance floor while the staff sat by idly. I can only assume from the way I was treated that being openly violent is acceptable to this establishment, while being openly gay is not. I've felt implicit homophobia in my life before, but this definitely stands out to me. I'm not sure how this place runs its business but I do not approve and would mark this club as unwelcoming to gay men. read more

Fat bouncer with tie too short for his large stature denied my friend entry for no reason. I've been in the industry for years and my friend displayed no warning signs for a patron not to be permitted. The "manager" who was a complete dud could not give a reason why my friend was not allowed in. I literally saw people stumbling in who were allowed entry. Avoid this place at all cost, they have a completely unexperienced staff that are rude and condescending. Complete utter joke, they should be restaffed immediately. This place is run by power hungry animals. I was not allowed in with a Michael kors shirt, dress lulu pants, and a fur jacket to add insult to injury they refused my friends who were also dressed in proper clothing for the club. Would not recommend spending a Friday night there. read more

Recently reserved a table here for a birthday celebration and was extremely impressed. Emily was our waitress and she went above and beyond for our group. We never had to wait an excessive time for a cocktail and she was always willing to take our group's photo. Two thumbs up! read more

Bouncers were very unprofessional and disrespectful. Kicked me and a friend out because they said we were "drinking too much." I was confused because I had a total of 4 beers while there, and saw a plethora of other people who were clearly stumbling over themselves and more drunk. A group of girlfriends and I went out to Avalon to celebrate my friend getting her masters. We took over a small section and danced all night. The music was on point and the smoke and lights were super cute. The reason for 5 stars though is because when we took over a small section with chairs and a group of men came over to flirt with us, the clubs bouncers made it a point to ask us if we knew those men and if they were bothering us. I have never experienced a bouncer so caring and attentive. That's amazing. I don't know who these men were but I hope they are applauded for that. Wow. read more

Went to this club for their new year's event. Paid $100 dollars for a ticket that effectively just prevented the club from being overcrowded which was nice. I guess I should also mention we were given tickets for a complimentary "glass" of champagne, which actually was more like a splash in a tumbler. Unfortunately there was a fight right before we entered, so even though we had the appropriate bracelet and stamp to get in we had to wait 40 minutes for the bouncer staff and police to sort things out. Besides that the drinks were expensive and 2 of the 3 bartender's that we experienced were very rude. They need to understand that everyone doesn't frequent their club and we don't all know the arbitrary rules regarding drinks and shots. There no signs explaining this and no education on the flyer advertising the event. The music was OK but the DJ pretty much unknown and it could have literally been anybody with a microphone and a playlist. Huge waste of $100 and will not be doing it again. read more

I went here for my friends 21st birthday, and she was turning 21 at midnight and they let us in for free! It was really fun, the drinks were pricey, i did order premium vodka, although nevertheless it was expensive. The dance floor and lights were wild and the DJ was okay! I do enjoy dancing, although maybe there should be a rule no drinks on the dance floor because I slipped several times and fell because it was too slippery for heels and being drunk!!! I debated on whether or not to leave this review... do people even look up reviews before they go out to a club? I went here a few weekends ago and my friend and I got there around 9:45 so we did not have to pay a cover. (SO glad we didn't pay to get in) We each had one drink and hung out on the dance floor (mind you there was a total of 7 people all ladies in the club at this point). Our friends are planning to meet up with us around 11. At about 10:45 (the place is finally starting to have people come in) we go up to the bar to get another drink. My friend trips (turns out the plastic bit on her heel came off) and the bartender cuts us off. Okay, she didn't realize her shoe broke and thought we were drunk. Fine. We go back to the dance floor without a drink and the bouncer comes over and says he "needs to talk to us outside" aka: kicks us out. He talks to us outside and even tells us that he realizes we aren't drunk, but we can't go back in. Then the manager comes and basically says the same thing. At one point he states "just because you use big words does not mean you can get back into the club" I wasn't even sure how to respond to that. Anyways, long story short. Got kicked out of this club...wasn't drunk...bouncers we're not nice or helpful. Ruined our night. Avalon needs to update their policy on kicking people out. I understand the bartender cutting us off, she wasn't able to talk to us and had only a second to decide, but once the bouncer talked to us it seemed very unfair to kick us out. Not a good time. I had an awesome time here! It was our friend's 30th birthday, and we decided to get table service. The managers saw to it that we had a good time. Our server made it feel like we were her only guests. She wouldn't let us pour our own drinks, even though the bottle was right there, she kept our glasses full, and frequently danced with us as well. The DJ put my friend's name on the jumbo tron behind the DJ, and that was awesome! We stayed until the club closed, and the bouncers we polite when asking everyone to leave, and as he walked with us, we talked about the night, and he was genuinely happy we had a great time. Now that I have experienced bottle service, I don't think there is any other way to go! Good job Avalon! We'll see you again! read more

Spent $100 for their NYE event. Place shut down entry for a fight, where we nearly missed the Ball drop. The club wasn't worth the ticket price in my opinion. The drinks were overpriced, $14 for a long island kind of range and they were pretty weak too. Ordering drinks had weird rules. Some kind of one drink at a time bull shit that made ordering shots a nightmare. The staff was rude, except the bouncers who were considerate given their chaotic circumstances. The DJ sucked aswell. DJ crespo or some shit? He basically just played everything from your middle school dance with the acception of a few new hits. Bottom line. my first club review outside of nyc. these wannabe clubs are always fun to check out. they open at 9, they close at 2 (as opposed to 11-4 in ny) and they're always so by the book. there's no "entrance at the doorman's discretion" unless you're dressed too bummy i guess. so props to that. if you dress decently enough, the place isn't overcrowded to a fire hazard and you have the money ($20 for guys), you'll get in. no waiting on long lines to be told "no more guys" or "we're at capacity, you'll have to buy a table". i never get that last line. if you're at capacity (which in reality, the place is about half empty), then how come if i buy a table, its ok that they're at capacity? does getting a table not count towards a headcount in the club. god i hate nyc clubs. back to avalon, why the 2 stars? well i didn't like the music, not really edm/house, not entirely top 40, just some sort of in btwn. couldn't get a flow, the dj that night was very inexperienced, just playing random music. the crowd was about 90% white, i like a little diversity. but this is in connecticut afterall so can't really fault them for that. i guess the main reason for the 2 stars is that there is no re-entrance to the club once u leave. you pay $20, what if u have an quick emergency to take care of and want to go back? nope, you'd have to repay the $20. i never heard of this before. they can't buy a damn separate hand stamp for re-entrance purposes? on to the positives, avalon has a great space, great design, great dark atmosphere. its well maintained and quite cool, not a sweatbox at all. they have glowing sticks that we each stole 5 of that night. the drinks aren't overly club expensive ($10 for vodka tonic). that may seem like a lot but ny clubs charge about $15. so that about wraps up my review. if anyone from avalon management is reading this, please change that re-entrance policy. read more

Take this review with a grain of salt because this is NOT my type of place, and I knew that going in. I went out with a small group of friends for a Birthday. We did not purchase any of the VIP tables or bottle service on this occasion. The club was only mildly busy on a Friday night. Not packed by any means, but somehow anytime dudes walk by you, they feel the need to make bodily contact...repressed homosexual feelings maybe? Other big turn offs were the typical outlandish casino drink prices and the fact that smoking was allowed inside. The sound system was pretty good, although seemed to overload/distort at some points on certain songs. The DJ was pretty average, played what you expected him to play, no real surprises or creativity. Very average experience and really does not justify the $10 cover charge by any means. read more

Place is a joke!!! Was our first time planning to visit so I sent an email 2 weeks ago to ensure we would get in and to reserve seating and entry. Received a follow up call from someone Friday (2 weeks later) and he assured me that we didn't need to reserve a seat and that we would get in no problem if we arrived before 11:00 with no cover as there was no cover if in costume. Mind you we have never visited and typically go to Foxwoods. We arrived around 10:30 in costumes ready to go..........and we stand in line for over and hour.........while people with reservations were getting in..........I tried to reserve a table and was not offered any options, only reassurance of my entry. At the end of it we paid $40 to get in because the free cover period expired while we were in line, we get in and it's a tiny little place with a bad DJ. For the wonder of it all......go to Foxwoods. I think as a customer planning my Halloween night I did everything I could to ensure I had a good time. This place failed me. We had a group of about 25 people come to Avalon for a birthday and felt that once they had our money, they no longer wanted to be bothered with us. We had 3 VIP tables reserved and one was given away. The manager had made it up to as by giving us a bottle of liquor complimentary which was excellent. However, at the end of the night we were over charged by $1,000 and no one at the club will return our phones calls after almost a week. Because of this i will never return and recommend no one else will as well read more

I absolutely loved this place! The atmosphere was beautiful, bartenders were very attentive, and the bottle service girls were gorgeous! The drinks were very moderate in price considering it's in a casino $9 for a vodka soda. The dj played a mix of music but which all I enjoyed! First of all, certainly not worth a $20 cover charge, especially since you can't re-enter for free. That being said, I'm SO glad my friend and I showed up at 9:45 (ladies are free til 10). Personally I do not like edm/house music and that's all the dj played. I also agree with another yelp review that said it was about 90% white people... I too like a little more diversity. Almost every group of people on the dance floor was a group of 4-6 girls with one having a Bride to Be ribbon. I don't want to be in a club full of just girls! I wish giving 0 stars on this establishment was an option. I understand having a dress code as club .. but there was no warning as to what it was. My party and I arrive to the line and bouncer tells us because one of the guests has shorts on he may not come in... but if you pay $350 for table service you can come in. So we say "whatever" why not... we should have turned away right there. We sit down at our table and the waitress was super nice, takes our order and was super attentive.. until all of a sudden a security guard comes up to one of our guests and starts telling him he needs to leave. This one guest does not drink so he was looking at video on his phone to past time while the rest of us where enjoying our time at the bar. But a security guard came up to our friend and accused him of video taping a staff member, which was not the case. Our friend gladly gave up his phone with out request and security went through his photos and video and found nothing. Well that said staff member that accused our friend of video taping them happened to be our waitress, so she never returned to our table or any of the other tables that she had around us . As a women I understand being uncomfortable after this situation ( even though nothing actually happened) but no one was ever sent to our section in lue of her. We never saw another employee until they were taking our bottle that we paid $300+ for with out warning. Every other club/bar/pub I have ever been in has a last call for obvious reasons. This club doesn't not so beware. . I'm sure any other person who gone to bar or club knows this is standard procedure. All of a sudden we were approached by a security guard that was grabbing our bottle without warning. He did not even give us an option of our last drink and the bottle was still half full. Just the whole night was a rip off. We arrived at 12:30am and were kicked out at 1:37am. There page clearly stated they close at 2am. When asking a staff member about this they said they need to be empty and closed by this time.
