I was impressed with my first visit to Avant Dentistry. I felt comfortable, the place was clean, the staff was friendly. My husband and I both went back to get work done and thought we were in good shape. Well, about ONE MONTH later, my husband's filling fell out. Dr. Liang was not in the office that weekend (it was a Friday) and we were told that we could "possibly be seen Monday but they had a full schedule so they'd have to call us back to see if they could fit him in." Strike one. We were not going to be inconvenienced and potentially cause further damage to my husbands mouth by waiting an entire weekend to HOPEFULLY get in and get it repaired. We decided to find a different dentist that could immediately address the situation. Found a great one that took care of him and did an amazing job. The difference in experience from this new dentist to Dr. Liang was quite apparent. So 3 days had passed and I still not received a follow up call from Avant Dentistry, as I was promised that Friday. I give the office a call and spoke to Dr. Liang who apparently had an unclear understanding of what the situation was because she hadn't spoken to the receptionist (it's been THREE DAYS). I explained it to her and she proceeded to argue with me for the next 15 minutes. Strike two. She first told us she was happy we got it taken care of, but that because she hadn't seen the damage, it was pretty much out of her hands. She said that she gave clear direction (which was to swish his mouth with water after any and every meal until she could see him) and that she could have followed up with him afterwards but now that a different dentist saw us, she could not do anything. She did not take any responsibility for the filling that had fallen out after my husband ate a soft cookie. She had reason after reason as to why it could have happened and why she felt she was not completely responsibility for the obviously poor procedure. I truly regret having work done at this office, as I am now having to go to a dentist again (it has now been only 3 months since my fillings were done with Dr. Liang) to have them relooked at as they are causing discomfort. I am very disappointed in the situation that was had and hope to give some guidance to new and potential patients. UPDATE: Went to another dentist and had xRays done of the fillings done by Dr. Liang. Turns out 3 of them need to be refilled - they're chipping! More money out of my pocket. After a bad experience with another area dentist I found Dr. Liang on Yelp along with many good reviews. I was very impressed the professionalism of Dr. Liang and her staff. She discussed with me her analysis, areas of concern, and treatment options which made it very easy for me to make a confident decision. She even recommended and excellent oral surgeon. I don't think I've every had a thorough deep cleaning like the one I received from Liz, the Clean Agent. I was reasonably comfortable during the procedure and no discomfort or issues after. Let me just start off by saying, I've never looked forward to dentist visits. It's usually just not a very pleasant place to be. I moved back to the DFW area for the first time after college and as I had recently found a job and gotten dental insurance, I proceeded to take advantage of my new benefits and looked for a nearby dental office. That place happened to be Avant Dentistry. The minute I walked through the front door, I was impressed. This place does not have the gloomy atmosphere of your run-of-the-mill dental office. This place is squeaky clean, bright and almost has an aura of a very nice coffee shop (the Keurig right next to the door contributes). By the way, I have to mention that prior to going, I had already completed all of my health records and insurance verification, etc. at home, online, as per their instructions. About time dental offices caught up to the 21st century, right? I have never had a quicker or more painless check-in procedure anywhere. The equipment at this office is obviously very new and up-to-date. The entire atmosphere of the office makes the trip a much more comfortable and easygoing experience (as easygoing as dental check-ups get, anyway). Dr. Liang and her staff were extremely thorough and knowledgeable. I'm not one to really understand anything health related and trips like this usually involve a lot of nodding but very little comprehension. My experience with Dr. Liang was very different; she made everything very easy to understand and yet very thorough. Her genuine care for you and your teeth is as obvious as her apparent exceptional taste in interior decorating. She started off checking all three sides of each of my teeth individually and pointed out spots I was missing while I was brushing and concluded by showing me how to floss more efficiently. I think it goes beyond saying that as long as I am in the DFW area, Dr. Liang and Avant Dentistry will be the only place I trust with my teeth. Full disclosure: Karen (Dr. Liang) is my cousin and I went to get my teeth cleaned with her for the first time over Thanksgiving break. I was very impressed with her practice and how much she thought about patient care when she set it up. It smelled like cinnamon and spice in her waiting room and she had a keurig and water available for patients while they waited (you can watch TV!). All of her equipment is brand new and state of the art and she has tv's in each room where she can comfortably and conveniently go over the patient's xrays with them. I came out of the visit with a few tips around where i need to focus more on my flossing and with my mouth feeling squeaky clean. Also - she was open during most of the days during the holiday season and on Saturday, which means that you can get your teeth cleaned without having to rearrange your meetings! read more

All I have to say is wow, I'm so glad I decided to leave my previous dentist and see Dr. Liang. The dental hygienists are great, virtually no discomfort during my cleanings (big change compared to my previous dentist). Dr. Liang is very thorough, knowledgeable, and an all around pleasure to be around. I had a whitening procedure done and after just one session my teeth were several shades brighter. I visited Avant Dentistry for a first time appointment, x-rays, and cleaning. I had a great first visit! I was greeted by Sarah and Nancy. Very friendly, kind, and helpful. My wait was very brief. I had x-rays and then went in for my cleaning and exam. The dentist who performed my exam was funny, kind, and thorough. Linda, the clean agent, provided me with a great cleaning! This is the most amazing dental places that I have ever seen..the clinic is so clean n nicely done with a big TV and a Keurig machine.. The front desk staff is so warm n welcoming..Mr. Patrick is the one whom I have dealt with mostly..who has a nice smiling face.. They are so prompt and professional and yet friendly and comforting.. Nicole is amazing - very pleasant person to be around and helps you and comforts you and assist doctor Karen Liang who is the best dentist that can be.. I went to them when I was pregnant ' my molar was decayed so bad that it had to be taken out..She needed a no objection from my Ob - which she never got..they kept calling my Ob for me but in vain..finally she took it all on her n did my extraction as my pain was beyond control..and not to miss ' they kept calling me before extraction how I was coping with pain which my Ob never cared about.. Doctor herself answers your voicemail msgs if you are in an emergency,. They kept calling me for my ache after my extraction too..n one day I had a severe pain n I called them and left msg on answering machine and Dr Liang herself returned my call n saw me in her clinic in an hours notice on the day she does not even sit in her clinic.. The moment I reached her clinic - all the staff was waiting for me n immediately took care of me with so much patience and she fixed my pain and helped me and did not even charge me for that visit.. I was in great pain but she was more worried abt me and my baby and again tried and reached out to my Ob to discuss my case before I reached her.. I was crying bad with pain n they were so patient n heard me - saw the problem and fixed it gently with my pace and no hurry and no pain..I came out smiling.. They calmed me down.. Believe me dental clinics are not the great places to visit - ask me but She and her staff is doing a great job.. Dr. Liang is so personable and kind; she understands that some parts of treatment can be uncomfortable/scary and she does an amazing job making everything as comfortable and quick as possible. She has all the newest technology but even better than that, she is an incredibly skilled dentist. As a pre-dental student, I have shadowed numerous dentists before and I can say without a doubt that Dr. Liang is one of the absolute best in terms of not only skill, but also compassion towards patients. Everyone at this clinic is kind, patient, and understanding. I also had a huge problem with dental anxiety as a child, and thanks to Dr.Liang, I'm completely over it now. I met Dr. Liang when she was in her final year of Dental School. And I have horrible teeth by the way, well-I HAD horrible teeth. She is an aggressive Dentist in that she is very forward thinking about your mouth, your teeth, your dental hygiene. She is really smart too. She knows what she does. Her office is immaculate, the tools are not just updated but almost cutting edge. The process are fair and my insurance accepts her, all bonuses. Nicole is her assistant and she is just as nice, very friendly and very good at explaining everything as is Dr. Liang. She is gentle with what she does and my teeth felt like silk after she cleaned them! I even take my children to her. Added bonuses are the coffee maker in the waiting room and the overhead television while you are laying back in the dental chair! I make referrals whenever I am asked for a Dentist. Nice office, charming personality, BUT, when there comes an issue... Be Aware! Dr. Karen has a sweet,charming personality if there is no issue. I do, however, have questions about her professionalism. She is the most irresponsible doctor that I have ever had, and here's why... (1) One day in 2016, after visiting her for a simple tooth filling, I encountered a severe pain in my mouth that afternoon. My mouth pain lasted for almost a week. I had so much troubles in terms of biting, eating, and drinking during that week. I informed the office about my situation the next morning and received no concern at all. And as soon as they knew my oral pain situation, they started not answering my phone calls. Instate, Patrick, the front desk staff, would call me back by using a different phone number (I believed that was his own cell phone) to response to my voice messages. To do so, they could avoid my compliant being officially recorded in their office phone device. Patrick kept on telling me that Dr. Karen denied that she has anything to do with my oral pain. Whatever happened to my oral pain was my own problem. He told me that Dr. Karen said that I should go to my PCP for cure. In fact, my PCP has nothing to do with my oral pain. My mouth issue started right after Dr. Karen's filling my tooth. Fortunately, I was able to recover shortly after visiting another dentist for further care. Not only Dr. Karen had never called me back, checked and concerned about my condition, but also she filed a full claim to my insurance company without even refunding me a dime for her careless performance. (2) This was not the first time that I received the filling from Dr. Karen. My first filling went OK, just because she paid more attention to me as a new patient. But when she took my before and after pictures without my consent during the procedure, that truly bothered me. She never gave me the pictures to keep, instead she used them for her Report Card and AD purpose. Also, while I was making my payment with CHIP-embedded credit card, I wan told to slice the card instead of inserting it. I was forced to use my finger to sign my name instead of using any device pen. Patrick, the front desk staff, captured my finger print in his tablet looked like device. Few days later, my credit company called and informed me that there were fraud activities in my account. Someone in California LA tried to abuse my card. My credit card company had to close it and issue me a new one to protect my identity being stolen. Because the only time I used my card was at this dentist office during that time, which made me believed that my personal data was leaking in this office whether was done intentionally or unintentionally. Based on the above unpleasant experiences with this dentist, My CONCLUSION is: Please do yourself a favor if you need a true professional, skillful dentist and want to protect your identity, it is better for you to find someone else. This doctor is just so irresponsible and untrustworthy! After all, your oral health is essential to your body and your identity is so personal to your wealth. We are glad we found this neighborhood dentistry. We still come back to this dentistry even we moved out of that area two years ago. This is the best dentistry that we have experienced in the past many years. Their teeth cleaning service is outstanding. My husband, I and my daughter became their loyal customers after our first teeth cleaning service. They always offer honest and reasonable services. They don't try to scare us or overly treat our teeth. They verified my insurance in advance and did a good job to accommodate my husbands primary and secondary insurance. They do not sell us anything we don't need, either talk us into a unnecessary treatment. The environment is always clean and comfortable. Staffs are always friendly and helpful. My family and I have been going to Dr. Liang for about 3 years and the care we have received has been wonderful. Dr. Liang is a very nice, considerate and professional dentist! You can tell she really cares about her patients and wants them to be at ease. She always took time to explain the problems in great detail and answered all my questions. Dr. Liang does a terrific job on my filling replaced, she will talk to you and explain everything she is doing, and her assistant Nicole smiles the whole time and asks how you are doing (she is the most amazing comforting assistant ever, made me very comfortable and relax). And Liz is a great hygienist, very gentle and yet thorough, she did a great job cleaning my teeth with no pain. It's nice to know you will be so well taken care of in this dentist office. Everyone working there are always very friendly, treat the patients like family, I never feel like "I'm just another patient". The office is very clean and with nice furniture. The wait time is never long. Billing is also handled efficiently and quickly. Everything is well explained to you and there are never hidden surprises.
