I giving this review not because she is not a nice person, this review is just about my facial experience. I went there I think in total 3 times. In April 2018 I saw her for the first time and when I got home my face started to itch. I didn't think much of it until 2 days later I wasn't able to open my eyes because my face was completely swollen. I was desvated. It was itchy, it burnt and swollen. I didn't know what products that she used caused that but it was a painful experience. Alina Said she will try something different. So I went for the 2nd time. This time was ok I had no issues. But we did avoid the exfoliater that might have caused the allergic reaction before. But I stopped seeing her until a week ago, I went there and it was nice to see her again, but I think she forgot I had issues with the exfoliater, so when she put it on, it burnt so bad and we had to stop and she cleaned my face and uses another more gentle exfoliater. All went ok. The last step would be the cream that has sulfur in it. She asked me if Iam also allergic to that one and I said Iam Not sure but let's try. 2days later the same thing happened like 2 years ago, my whole face was itchy, it was swollen like a ballon ( I guess not even my parents would be able to recognize me). I took meds and had to put a cream on it. Bought tons of stuff to fix it. Again, it was not her fault BUT I wish she would have insisted putting the cream on my hand first and then see my reaction after 48 hours, since we both were unsure. And I think it was not only the cream but the exfoliater that caused that the server reaction. I won't come back as I think my skin is just not made for her products. Overall she is a nice person and we had a good talk but I wish she wouldn't touch her phone while doing a facial ( many people point it out here on yelp but she seems to be ok with it). I've gone to Alina for about 2 years for waxing exclusively. This last time I went in I was struggling with bad chin inflammation and breakouts. Purchased a Groupon for a wax at a GREAT deal. Had difficulty finding street parking so I ended up parking at the Dollar Tree lot which was a short walk away. When I first walked into the business, I noticed right away how nice the interior was. Very nice, warm and inviting. Alina was waiting for me in the waiting area. She led me into a room that appeared nice and clean. Warm colors, not sterile looking. Alina had me get prepared right away for the wax. She didn't step out of the room while I prepared which made me a little uncomfortable. I'm used to undressing in private then laying down with a towel for privacy, but oh well, I guess the price I had to pay for being a few minutes late. Alina was quick and appeared to be thorough in her search for unwanted hair. The wax temperature was just right and didn't feel to hot when she applied it with a wooden tongue blade. I couldn't tell if she changed the wooden stick between each application of wax. I would hope so. The thought of double dipping is not only gross, but I would think it would be a health hazard. Also, the Groupon deal is only for first timers, and afterwards, when you come back as a regular, it's $35 - not bad!!! Nice and acommodating lady, and of course, if she cannot make the appointment with you, she wil definitely call you back to reschedule. Something I appreciate with any professional since they are also respectful of your time as well. Alina is lightning fast, and I was done within 15mins. Stripping the exterior sting a little, but the interior didn't hurt as much, yay!!! I also dig that she got all the wax off, and so I didn't have a sticky residue feeling after. Warning: THIS PLACE IS NOT GOOD FOR BRAZILIAN WAXES!! I had my Brazilian by Alina and I bought a Groupon. I showed up at 4:15pm for my 4:30pm appointment. I tell the receptionist that I am here for Alina and she tells me to take a seat. I sit in the waiting room until about 4:35pm and I wonder why I haven't been called in yet. I walk up to the receptionist and I reiterate that I am here for Alina for 4:30 and nobody has called me in. Just when I was telling them the situation, Alina opens the door behind me and tells me, "you're late". Wait, wtf. I've been here for 20 minutes and nobody called me in and I'm the one who's late?! I walk inside and I tried to explain to Alina that I've been waiting outside for a while and she cuts me off while I'm talking and repeats that I am late, and goes on and on about how I'm late and how it's strange nobody called me in. How about hiring some better trained receptionists? .... I ignore her rude remarks about me being late, but she keeps bringing it up and I just say, "yeah, ok". I already have a bad feeling about this place by this point. She starts waxing and the wax was BEYOND HOT. I've done Brazilian for about a year now and I know that when wax is too hot, you tell your wax lady. I tell her that it's too hot and she says, "yeah, you're fine. It's okay." No I am freaking not, this shit is hot and I know when it burns, lady. She continues putting it on and eventually the wax cools. I do not appreciate her unprofessionalism at this point. During this wax, she points out that I'm breaking out hormonally and I should go see her for a facial. What the hell, I came here for a wax not a facial. This review is long overdue, I went to see her months ago but haven't had time to write a review. Alina is probably good for people with bad acne, based on her reviews. I don't know since I haven't had acne for a long time, but I did get a Lifebooker voucher for her ultrasonic facial and enzyme mask. My experience was far from good. She is very UNPROFESSIONAL, here's why: I arrived on time for my appointment but had to wait for her to finish another appointment. I waited about 10 mins before she saw me. During the treatment, her cell phone rang and she answered it without leaving the room and was on the phone with her 35 year old son, speaking loudly in the room for more than 5 mins! After her call, she explained that her son had injured his arm due to a hockey accident and she doesn't "why he's going to a Vietnamese doctor when there are so many doctors out there." Those were her actual words, and this was after she asked where I was from and I mentioned I was born in Vietnam. Seems like a racist thing for her to say. There are lots of good Vietnamese doctors out there. Finally, the 2 stars I gave her is not based only on her unprofessionalism and racist comments, but because her facial and the toner she adamantly told me I should buy from her have done absolutely nothing positive for my skin. read more

I have received two acne facial treatments from Alina. What can I say.. she is amazing and knows what she is doing. Acne is something I've struggled with for so long and did not know where else to turn to. I've seen dermatologists who prescribed me topical cream that did nothing for me. Bottom line: my Before and Current pictures say it all. My first facial with Alina was 12 weeks ago, and both pictures are taken without makeup, and without a filter. I found Alina through researching the best acne facials in all of Los Angeles. I spent hours researching estheticians primarily through reading Yelp reviews. Alina was by far the most consistently highest-rated facialist, and this is the second salon I have seen her in (her previous reviews are under her previous salon). She fulfilled every expectation I had of her during the first appointment. It was my first skin treatment/facial ever. She studied my skin and I asked a lot of questions. She was very warm-hearted, kind, and felt out what I needed (to be talked to, to be quiet, etc.). I wanted her to explain bacteria, acne, facials, treatments, ETC., and she did. She was a bacterial biologist internationally, and moved to the States, and is now (obviously) an esthetician. Because her education and YEARS of experience are rooted in bacteria, she is an expert in acne (caused and spread by bacteria). In just three months my inflamed acne is now fully gone, I have no active breakouts, and the redness is continuing to lessen by the day. Her results speak for themselves, however it is how she interacts with me beyond the treatments that impresses me. Throughout these three months she has text me to ask how I'm doing, works around my availability for appointments, remembers what's going on in my life and asks for updates, and genuinely cares about how I'm doing, in addition to my skin. I am not the type to seek out friendships in doctor/dentist/skincare appointments, however because my acne was so painful (physically painful and emotionally painful) it was extremely helpful to have Alina be as sincere as she was and continues to be regarding my progress. Without hesitation, I consider Alina to be the best esthetician in the Los Angeles area, and know that other clients of hers drive hours for their appointments with her. Parking is simple (some spots are reserved right outside, and street parking is plentiful). It is very easy to setup appointments with Alina, as she is flexible and will work around your schedule, as long as she isn't already booked. I have done this via over the phone, or texting. I have never needed to wait to be seen, either, as she respects her clients' time and makes sure as not to double-book. I also took Alina's advice and got two products she recommended for my skin recovery. Brought to this place by the groupon gods, I came to Alina, who must have been a medieval torturer in her past life for my first ever Brazilian wax. Avoiding all do Cosmo Do's and Don't I went in without having taken a pain killer beforehand and wearing some tight ass pants. Once in the small room Alina immediately tells me to get undressed and I am brought back to my days in middle school gym. I undressed and began to tug on my shirt to cover more to which Alina said" honey, no need to be shy, I'm gonna see everything anyway" I jump on the table and Alina gets right to it. I get the most action Id gotten in months. My eyes were closed the whole time and my head turned away. At one point Alina asks me if I'm crying. Only on the inside I say to myself. Just when I wanted to walk out there, Alina said she was just about done. She started off by exfoliating my skin and doing a mild peel then she did an extraction. She applied couple stuff to my face, including vitamin c and she used this stuff called high frequency. Whatever she did to my face, i feel my face is smoother. it helped some stubborn blemishes and scars. She will recommend her products to you but doesn't pressure you into buying. Alina is the bee's knees!!! My skin has gone bonkers the last few months and just when I had given up hope, Alina came to the rescue! I've never struggled with acne before, nor had a facial, so i was very apprehensive. I began searching for a place to get my first facial at and Alina had amazing reviews (rightfully so) AND i found a groupon for her facials! Score, done and done. The office is clean and welcoming. The extractions were terrible, obviously, but Alina kept me comfortable by talking to me about funny movies and music. She definitely put me at ease with her knowledge and explanations throughout the whole process. One week after she worked her magic and I am cured! I have been going to Alina for over a year now for Acne facials, eyebrow waxing and facial waxing. I get the best care when I go to her. She never makes me feel rushed. She does quality work and I can see the results right away. Eyebrow waxing - I am extremely picky about who I go to for eyebrow waxing. Therefore, I go to Alina, I know she will make them look absolutely beautiful. She takes her time and my brows come out looking sharp thanks to her. Facial Waxing - She uses hard wax. My skin is sensitive. She is aware of skin conditions and is extremely gentle with it. I have never had skin issues after facial waxing with her. In the past, I would break out after facial waxing, but not with Alina. Acne Facial - I have been going to Alina for Acne facial for a while now. My skin is a 100000x better than when I started seeing her. She never pushes her products on me. Although, anytime I have ever bought something from her, it has definitely worked.
