Physical therapists coming to work sick and gave my mom the flu which to turned to pneumonia and they sent her back hospital way too late and she passed. She also had contacted MRSA from this facilty and had a UTI that I believed she had weeks before and they never tested. She basically went downhill upon entering this facility and nurses did not care to find out why she was spiraling downhill! It was most likey the UTI that started everything and this place does not care! they just kept saying it looks like she needs to go to long term facility!

I am a current resident who's been at Bella Terra Wheeling for a little more than thirteen months. I have seen Mike, Kandi, Nikki, Yesenia, Jocelyn, Fran, and Michelle work very hard to keep this facility running. Many of the nurses and CNAs provide good support to care for the patients at this nursing/rehabilitation home. I have seen the staff as a team handle multiple situations to provide care and comfort for the patients. I also want to say that I am impressed with the Activity and Receptionist team members as they provide more layers of assistance and cohesiveness to help form a strong employee base. One of the benefits of living and recuperating at this facility is that the meals are decent. I lived at another home before transferring here and the food is actually much better. I get meals with chicken as the main course far more than I used to at the previous rehab center. And I get fresh salads more often as well. Bella Terra Wheeling also has staff members in place to help with setting up doctor appointments and transportation. For an independent person like myself, I don't utilize all of the services available but I am very glad that many residents do have access to these benefits. I want to close out my review with a huge thank you to each and every staff member for being patient and understanding with me and many of the residents as caring for us can be quite challenging at times. I was so hesitant on leaving her at Bella Terra as I did not know anything about her condition which was Dementia and Bella Terra. I had no clue how to take care of my mom as she was uncontrollable and hard to reason with. I want to say Thank you to Angelina, my lovely angel nurse Daisy, nurse Raj and many more nurses and CNAs that took care of my mom. Daisy you of all people I owe a huge apology to by not cooperating with you especially. You guys saw my mom slipping away to cancer and dementia and I tried to fight for her life and I was wrong. Hospice gave her freedom and relief from her pain and I tried to hold on and gave grief to you and Angelina. You guys were angels to put up with me. Despite being noticeably understaffed, she moved from resident to resident with remarkable patience and professionalism, feeding those who needed assistance, checking in with others, and maintaining a warm and positive attitude throughout. Her compassion and work ethic clearly reflect someone who takes pride in what she does. While I'm not an expert in this field, I do work in a very similar profession and deeply understand how much compassion, commitment, and emotional strength it takes to provide care for others. Nicole embodies all of those qualities. If the facility had more staff like her, or even just more staff support overall, each resident would receive the level of care they truly deserve. Due to the staffing ratio of approximately one CNA for every sixteen residents (based on timeframe of observation). In memory care, where residents often rely heavily on guided assistance, this level of staffing makes it difficult to ensure everyone's nutritional and emotional needs are met. It's evident that there have been positive strides at Thrive, and with continued improvements, particularly in staffing, the facility could deliver an even higher standard of care. The decor is a bit minimal and basic, although I was impressed with the therapy gyms, and the courtyard was nice. Rooms are spare and small, although bathrooms are wide and have roll-in showers. The message here is is take care of your health, people. If you are lucky enough to have healthcare, use it and don't neglect your checkups. Save for retirement and beyond. Rant over.

The specific apartment was spacious (we had a 2 bedroom) and although it wasn't fancy it was very nice and we were able to enhance it with so many items from my parents home. The ability to move across care levels (my parents were in independent but needed nursing at times) was also really helpful. Their faith based orientation was obvious and comforting, across all staff (office), priests, music director and even some brief interactions with the CEO.

I had no idea what to expect when I when I was sent to Encompass Health for rehabilitation after my neurosurgery. How fortunate I was to be treated at Encompass Health facility in Libertyville, IL. Everyone is treated respectfully and they truly care about your well being and want you to get well. The therapists encourage you and work with whatever your limitations may be to enable you to get well enough to succeed and meet your goals. Therapy is conducted in the gym. Everyone is rooting for everyone else including patients. The entire staff whether it be medical, therapeutic, food service, cleaning staff, and office staff always greet you with a smile and encouragement. I want the CEO, Gemma Fletcher to know (and I am sure she does) that the entire staff are rock stars, and their concern for the patients is genuine and sincere. I did not realize how much of an emotional high the ringing of the bell gave me when I finished therapy and was getting ready to be discharged. You can not find a better facility in the northern suburbs…read more I have to apologize for taking so long to write this review. I was a patient on 6/24/24 after having hip replacement surgery. The facility was run so efficiently that I NEVER had to wait for someone to respond to my call. The food was fresh and good. I never had to wait for medication, which was always on time, the correct pill, and dosage. Did I mention how beautiful the facility was? Not only beautiful but very clean. The staff was incredible, they always had a smile on their faces, which told me they were happy to work there. Physical therapy helped me to recover as quickly as I did. Everyone was very patient and took time to explain what I needed to do. The therapist stayed with me to make sure I was doing it correctly. After seeing the horrible facility in Streamwood, my sister-in-law is currently at, I realized just how lucky I was to have been at the best facility in the northern suburbs. Hands down, you can not find a better facility in the northern suburbs!!

Today I completed the resurrection of my right shoulder with the help of Jen, Feddy, Priya,…read moreJennifer, and another lady whose name I regrettably never got. I could not be happier with the experience. If you need physical therapy, you need to call these people. They are friendly, knowledgeable, and dedicated. What's more, they really care. What they did for me was nothing short of amazing, and I will be forever grateful. I also spent quite a bit of time there and watched them interact with other patients, so I know my experience was not a unique one. Now that I have your attention, let me share some details of my experience. Those may resonate with you if you're in a similar situation. Or you could just call them and book an appointment now. First, a little bit about me. I'm an extreme introvert and am usually content to just deal with a health problem because it's easier to ignore it than to pick up the phone and have an awkward conversation with a stranger. It doesn't make sense, but that's me. My injury was to the rotator cuff in my right shoulder. It was a bad one, and I ignored it for years. Circa 2008, I went to a White Sox game, had a few beers (and then a few more), and got talked into throwing a baseball in one of those radar gun booths to see how fast I could throw. The warm throb in my shoulder afterwards was not a good sign. The following morning when I bent down to tie my shoes it felt like my shoulder fell out of the socket - probably a worse sign. Eventually I couldn't even put my right hand on top of my head. Over the next year, I ignored it and started doing things left-handed. It kind of healed, flaring up occasionally and still causing pain at the extents of my motion. Most of the mobility came back. Then in early 2022, I aggravated it again bowling. My journey with Emery Physical Therapy began with a search that is likely similar to the one you're doing now. I went to my doctor, I got an X-Ray and an MRI and was then told to, "find someone local who does physical therapy". As bad as my shoulder was, I was skeptical that physical therapy could help. I looked at Yelp and Google. I did a search on the site of my insurance company. I read all kinds of reviews. It's embarrassing, but as I said before, I hate making those calls. I dreaded it. I put it off. When I finally called, a sweet voice (Jennifer) answered the phone. I remember asking if they did shoulders. I was awkward. I had a long story. I didn't even know how to start that conversation. She took my information, and we exchanged some documents via text and email. That experience could not have been easier and put me at ease for the first appointment. In the first meeting, I met Jennifer from the phone and also the other Jen (Laube) who would be my physical therapist. She assessed my shoulder and asked me some questions. At this point my shoulder was a mess. I could put my left thumb behind my back and up between my shoulder blades, but I couldn't even get my right hand behind my butt. Coats, shirts, and backpacks had to go on right arm first. Reaching for my phone on the nightstand was painful as was lifting the covers. I certainly couldn't throw anything. My goal was to have a functional right shoulder that I could use without pain, to be able to play catch with a football with my son, and maybe even to be able to bowl again (although that seemed unfathomable in February). Over the next 4 months I saw Jen twice a week. In the beginning, she taught me exercises to regain the range of motion in my shoulder. She taught me how to NOT sleep on it. She and the rest of the crew patiently worked with me to make sure I was doing all the exercises correctly (and admittedly, I was not great at them). Gradually the range came back. When I started, I'd stretch to the edge of discomfort (further would have caused pain and she told me many times "If it hurts, don't do it!"). By the end, there was no pain at all at the end of those stretches. Then we moved on to strengthening. New exercises! Toward the end of strengthening, she taught me how to NOT re-injure myself. She re-taught me how to throw a tennis ball. Apparently, I had been doing it wrong for over 40 years. I not only learned how to do it right, but my accuracy quickly improved. Then she re-taught me how to throw a football. You guessed it, I'd been doing that wrong too. In one 10-minute session in the parking lot, I went from throwing wobblers to some decent spirals. Then this past weekend, the impossible happened, I bowled 2 games pain-free with a 14lb ball. We made it all happen! Today was my last day of physical therapy, and while I'm ecstatic with my progress, I'm actually a little sad. I'm going to miss this team. They're really great people and did a fantastic job for me. I can only hope that this review will encourage others in need of physical therapy to reach out and give them a chance to help.

The communication at this place is horrible. The communication between doctors, hospitals and…read morenurses is one thing because it's different parties and I understand that it's not all coordinated by the rehab center. However, I will focus on direct communication between the family and the rehab center. It is hard to get a hold of anyone at times. There was times that I called and the phone rang for 10 minutes straight. Or I asked to speak to the patients nurse... and waited for 10 minutes and transferred then waited and transferred again... to be told by the receptionist to call back. The nurses and CNAS for the most part are kind and caring. I'm very appreciative of them. It's the service and management of the rehab center that's not satisfying I understand and empathize with the busy nurses, however rehab centers are a for profit business. This one in particular is. Customer service in this kind of business, revolves around effective communication with the patients family. Both in the rehab center and on the phone. People work and it's important that they feel informed of their family members well being and progress at all times. I did not feel that way at all. Even at Sunday discharge, the prescriptions weren't given with valid quantities....Which we didn't discover until at home...with less then a days worth of medication left. Something that would have been great if anyone had noticed before discharge... or if we were given the prescriptions to fill ahead of time. Something has got to change with regard to keeping patients families involved and informed.
