Call lights were not answered that she finally just got up by herself . They felt that waiting 30-40 mins when you have to go was fine and many times she ended up been a mess. I have never been in a facility like this where you never see a nurse or cna in the halls. THey are always telling you they are understaffed and overworked. I could go on and on . Lastly , I don't understand how they feel that a shower once a week is sufficient. Please find another rehab place for you or your loved ones. I couldn't wait to get her out.

The communication at this place is horrible. The communication between doctors, hospitals and…read morenurses is one thing because it's different parties and I understand that it's not all coordinated by the rehab center. However, I will focus on direct communication between the family and the rehab center. It is hard to get a hold of anyone at times. There was times that I called and the phone rang for 10 minutes straight. Or I asked to speak to the patients nurse... and waited for 10 minutes and transferred then waited and transferred again... to be told by the receptionist to call back. The nurses and CNAS for the most part are kind and caring. I'm very appreciative of them. It's the service and management of the rehab center that's not satisfying I understand and empathize with the busy nurses, however rehab centers are a for profit business. This one in particular is. Customer service in this kind of business, revolves around effective communication with the patients family. Both in the rehab center and on the phone. People work and it's important that they feel informed of their family members well being and progress at all times. I did not feel that way at all. Even at Sunday discharge, the prescriptions weren't given with valid quantities....Which we didn't discover until at home...with less then a days worth of medication left. Something that would have been great if anyone had noticed before discharge... or if we were given the prescriptions to fill ahead of time. Something has got to change with regard to keeping patients families involved and informed.

It is comfortable for guests visiting loved ones, and the comfortable lounge areas make you forget that you are in a medical facility at all. The food is also good, though lacking of salt (cardiac diet after all) but still plated restaurant style, and inviting to patients. The rehab specialists are positive and interact well with patients. There should be more nurses and CNAs though available to help. My mom was pretty high functioning, I would have been worried if she wasn't because it takes awhile for them to answer their call button. Some of the rooms are far from the nursing station, and that concerns me because what if someone falls, and no one knows. It takes 15 minutes for someone to respond to the call light, that felt disconcerting to me.

It is also worth noting that both The Pearl of Rolling Meadows and The Pearl of Elk Grove Village are privately owned (by Pearl Healthcare), as the physical infrastructure and dining seem to lag behind the high quality of the frontline caregivers.

The staff is generally nice but overworked. Several slips in care occurred but one was unacceptable and caused me long term problems. One night my Dad needed help going to the bathroom and no one came. After 3 hours, he couldn't hold it anymore and wet himself in the bed. When the morning staff came in, he was wallowing in pee. The experience was obviously humiliating. Devastating to his long term care needs, he now refuses to be " put in a home" and will only return to his house. He will not even consider places outside The Moorings.

The PT wasn't as good as we were informed. The office staff was just as useless. Made phones calls to lots of people, they always said they would look into it and never did. No one seems to know what the other person is doing. It was an awful experience therefore please look at other places to place your loved one

And the majority of the staff seemed to care about the people, although I did notice at least one person who worked there that just seemed to treat it as a job....maybe it was a bad day for them, but still a life is a huge responsibility. The outdoors is nice and the bottom floor has the activity room for therapy and there is a store and a church...which incidentally, is NOT open during EASTER i found out the hard way. Still over all a pleasurable experience. Why the four stars? They listened to my concerns and help me prepare for an upcoming hip replacement surgery. Because of the care I received my recovery was much quicker. The level of care given far exceeds all others. By that I mean all other PT treatments Centers. My situations were very complex. By going to PT 2x a week I have been able to avoid surgery. Yes you have to do the work also, but they are there to assist all the way. I highly recommend this PT Center. Jake, Andrea and Brie are absolutely amazing.
