A friend goes to her so I booked a haircut with Britany. I have short hair and needed a trim. She spent 15 minutes including a shampoo. It wasn't a great haircut; she never asked if it was ok re length. (it wasn't) I was charged $95 because she is a senior stylist. It WAS NOT a $95 haircut. Not going back. read more

Wife wanted/needed a trim so she called around while we were on vacation in Miramar. She secured an appt at this location with Rose. She came back looking like a million bucks and was thoroughly happy with the results. She was thrilled to meet Rose and stayed after her service to yak with her. I can't say enough amazing things about it here. I'm so lucky to have Emily to help me manage the frizzy mop, I like to call my hair. My hair was like ORANGE brassy before I met Emily and she made me believe in the golden glow that is the balayage, she's magically turned my hair into. I feel bad because I always go to her with a matted messy top. But I'm not used to the humidity here so my hair gets so damaged, but she upkeeps it for me quite often. She even cuts my sons hair which is a blessing because he's autistic and doesn't like loud noises... or strangers... but he likes Emily so it works out nice. She's so patient with him and her perfectionist attitude always leaves him looking so handsome. Highly recommend coming here!! I love it! read more

Emily Rose does such an amazing job with my blonde highlights. She's so sweet & gets those foils perfectly placed. Highly recommend her. I've been coming here for 6 years. Prices are a bit steep if you have a lot of hair & the prices seem to fluctuate even if I get the exact same thing every time. They could be a bit more transparent in their pricing. read more

I'm in Destin for business, and needed a haircut/style for work- sponsored occasions this week. Monday I got online and chose to try avantgarde based on their great reviews. I was able to schedule an appointment for the next day with Emily. She was knowledgeable and efficient, and didn't want to talk my ear off! Okay this whole thing makes me sad. So I'm visiting the Destin area trying to decide wether to make this area my new home. I received a referral to this salon from our condo owner. I was warned not to let them know I wasn't from the area, please heed that warning I was charged double vs anyone else at the checkout. I through conversation let that fact slip. So I paid half of the projected charge in advance on the website this is a requirement before you book an appointment. My total charge was $230 plus the $77.50 in advance. I did receive a $20 discount offer off the website because"I mentioned it." Whew! They were supposed to refund my advance payment but so far my bank only shows the charges. So as of this moment I paid $307.50 for a hair color. Sorry but that is an overcharge and unethical. This visitor had learned her lesson and hopefully this review will help future victims. read more

My daughter and I have been clients of Aveda salons including other Avantgarde locations for many years. My daughter was charged $720 for a cut and color though we were quoted $200. When I called to complain, the stoic manager stood behind their huge cost increase. She indicated that 3x+ cost increases were completely normal at Avantgarde in Destin. I feel like they took advantage of my sweet daughter and robbed me! I will not return! read more

I, & my family, have been a long time client of the local Avantegarde brand for several years UNTIL I moved & had to switched to THIS location! I thousands of $$ to this salon but when their product FADED, just ONLY AFTER 2 weeks (which never happened before). The receptionist , at first, said "They would be happy to make things right and made an appt for me to come in with the 1st available opening, but with a diff stylist." However, 2 minutes later, he called back and said, " Because the appt will be 2 DAYS shy of the 2-week window to correct, we won't be able to comp, you'll have to pay for the touch up again!" My experience at this salon was awful. I made an appointment a week in advance to get a full head balayage. When I get to the appointment the stylist Britney tells me she does not have enough time to do my hair.. if that's the case then what's the point of making an appointment in the first place. She suggested that I need to reschedule for her to be able to do my hair. It was very unprofessional, they should warn you about this before a customer makes an appointment specially if they will not be able to provide the service at the time of appointment the whole situation was super inconvenient. Do not recommend !!!!!! read more

I am a once-a-year visitor to Avantgarde .. I come in prior to an annual weekend event to have my hair styled. This salon is in the *most perfect* location to get yourself gussied up for a special event: right next to Belk, you can book your hair and then walk over to have your makeup done at MAC, Bobbi Brown, whatever. Twice I have gone into the salon with shorter hair, not really sure what I was looking for .. both times the stylists have done a phenomenal job of creating elegant looks for me. PS: book well in advance .. I usually book three months prior to my event :-) read more

Got waxing done by Tammy. Pricing was very reasonable and she did a really great job. All the wax was cleaned off afterwards. Some places miss spots, but not here. I will return. They offer many other spa services. i think I might have my hair done next time. I will update this review when I do. I watched some of the stylists work and noticed that most of their customer's hair looked really great after. read more

I recently moved back to the area from DC and am SOOOOOOOO dang particular about my hair (fine, not a ton of it, and its a very precise cut) its taken me almost 3 months to find a stylist. My search is over. Amanda at Avantgarde in Miramar Beach (the location at The Shoppes of Destiny) is PHENOMENAL! She's young and hip, and eager to learn and please. She did an excellent consultation to find out what I like about my hair, how it lays best, how the last person who cut my hair the way I like it achieved their results, what I didn't like about my last haircut and why, what kind of highlights I liked, etc. I was treated to a hand massage while my color was processing, and a fantastic scalp and neck massage during my conditioning treatment. She recommended products appropriately (I mentioned my color fades b/c I'm not super diligent about keeping a hat on when I'm in the sun - she recommended their spray in sunscreen) but wasn't overly pushy - just more of an FYI. She also put the finishing touches on my cut when it was dry which is SUPER important because hair lays differently when its dry (as most of us wear it the majority of the time) than when its wet. She also offered a revisit if in the next day or two I notice anything that needs tweaking after I've styled it a couple times. I'm scheduled in 5 weeks and I'm super stoked to go back! read more
