Got a pedicure and gel removal, was seated quickly came around 2:30 on a Thursday afternoon. The person I had was a little rough with her touch. During cuticle trimming the technician got one of my toes and then when was sprayed with alcohol it stung. A couple of red flags one was it didn't look like the tools were sterilized, specifically two different cuticle trimmers were used. One was with things that came out from the back (hoping those were sterilized but cannot confirm), and the other was already sitting at the station. It appeared that a purple sponge for callus removal was being reused on me. And something other than nail polish was being poured into the bottle that I wanted for nail polish - unsure what that was. Overall, the staff were friendly and nice, some areas of improvement would be sterilization of the products and being gentle with nail care read more

Received a manicure at this location Aug 3 2024 and was the only person of color in Avatar Nail Bar and noticed I was the only one that was required too pay before my service. Therefore, I observed and witnessed at least four ladies that paid after there service was completed; Also, I was informed has soon has I sat that I had too pay before the manicure. If I could give zero stars I would. My two granddaughters and I had an appointment for 11:30 am and we arrived promptly. We were asked to pick out our nail color and take a seat. We're taken back, 20 minutes later to soak our feet and by 12:30 pm, they had only started the pedicure on one of us and the myself and my other granddaughter were left to soak. By that time, the water had become cold. At 12:50 pm the nail tech approached me to begin my service and I told her Ivl no longer had time for the pedicure after waiting an hour and twenty minutes. Obviously, having an appointment does not matter, as services are provided too all walk-ins and not given priority to customers who have an appointment. My granddaughter who did get her nails done was unhappy with pedicure as it was a rushed and unfinished job. Needless to say, I will never be returning. It was a waste of a morning. read more

I came on a Sunday and the nail tech immediately serviced me but still gave me enough time to pick out a polish. There was absolutely no rush during my manicure. I'd gave it a total of 30-40 min. All of my hang nails were gone & the shaping was well done. Gel application was perfect! The only part that threw me off was when she filed my nails again after the top coat... I was afraid that filing the nails would take off the seal of the gel, but every nail salon do things differently so i didn't question her job. I took a long hot shower later that day and none of my gel peeled off so that was good. Pictures of the menu prices posted here are out of date because my gel manicure costed me $30, which is still a reasonable price compared to what i had paid over in the Perkins area ($45+). My experience was not a good one. I got a dip manicure, which took over an hour, but for some reason I did not receive the same type of service as the other customers. She never put my nails under LED/UV lights for drying (I had to dry mine under a table lamp) and I didn't receive oils on my cuticles or lotion for my hands/arms like other people did. She just walked away after she told me to put hands under the table lamp and was done. I've had dip done for years, and this was my first time here. Unfortunately, I won't go back or recommend. But as I mentioned, other people look like their experience was different than mine. So it's a hit or miss on who you get. read more

This is one of my "go to" nail salons in town. That being said I was not pleased with my gel manicure that I received Monday. By Tuesday morning three nail polish began to peel off. I went back had them redone. And two more began peeling on Friday. Gel usually lasts two full weeks without a knick but this time it didn't last one day nor one week. For the gel mani and spa pedi I paid $53 and left a $10 tip. I am very disappointed with their work. I am finding it difficult to find a nail salon in town that does not take 2 hours to do the job and do a good job especially for the price I pay. I'm sort of torn on my experiences with Avatar, but I think this sums it up. One of my favorite things about Avatar is that they open promptly at 9am, an hour before any other nail bar I'm familiar with. It's one of the reasons I frequent this place. So as usual, I walk in and was seated immediately. I chose my gel color from one of those fun "wheel of nail" things and the process began. I wanted a gel polish, which includes a quick shaping of the nail's free edge (only for evenness in shape & length...don't get stingy people) and a simple cuticle cleanup. The cuticle cleanup became standard practice with the gel nail and is CRITICAL-as it ensures the longevity of the gel (which comes at a higher price). So it should obviously be done with sanitized/appropriate tools. I got my nails filed promptly with a dusty file, asked to wash my hands, my cuticles were pushed back using the manicurist's own nails (cringe) and lastly the actual gel application was applied and finished. While my nails were under the UV, she was filing her own nails with the same file she was using on me. Before adding a little oil to the tips of my fingers, she gave my nail edges a final file, which we all know breaks the gel seal...so I'll definitely see lifting in chipping within a day or two. This all happened in literally 15 minutes and without the gratuity was $18, so if you are desperate for a quick job this would work, but the bad sanitary practices made this my farewell trip. Awesome service! The employees at this nail shop are happy to see you, remember you when you come in, and even recall what you like and don't like when requesting services. I've gotten a great mani/pedi at this friendly shop once a week since Mother's Day (brought my mom in and they took awesome care of her) and I still love it like the first time. Solid 4 stars. The only negative I have is that there is normally a wait, unless you make an appointment. It's very clean inside with modern furniture and decorations. The prices are normal. My mom, daughter, and girlfriend received gift cards to this place. Today 03/16/2018 they went to enjoy their time there. Instead of a great time they were talked about by the women there in Vietnamese. Now if they were smart, they would have introduced themselves. They would have noticed my gf is Vietnamese and could understand what they were saying about my family and herself. They were very rude in what they were saying. All my family was there for was a pedicure and manicure. How can a place be ran this way? Why would management allow this to happen? Made an appointment in advance. Arrived for my 11 AM appointment on a Saturday. Waited about 20 minutes before being seated in a massage chair. Then waited about another 10 minutes for someone to begin my pedicure. She didn't ask what type of pedicure I wanted nor did she say hello. I like to help viewers have a gauge on the reviewer. My husband and I visited upon reading reviews. We are from Dallas and have high standards. We do not feel that the reviews adequately described our view of excellence or quality work. We are not driven by price but by quality. My husband and I both own our own business' and appreciate quality and good customer service in others. We were the first to arrive on Sunday when they opened at noon. The entire salon smelled like fish. Like they had been cooking dinner in the back. It was not particularly clean by my standards but I have high standards on cleanliness. We both had deluxe mani/ pedi's and I had gel nails refreshed. It took us 3 hrs! As people walked in, they would leave us and begin working on others. Trying to juggle 2 people at a time. Poor time management and customer service. Other customers were annoyed by this as well as they were expressing the same frustrations. They rushed through both of our services and did a below average job. The technician I had was the owner/manager. That does not bode well for standards that are set by salon leadership. I also had to ask my husband's technician to redo his manicure as she finished his entire mani in 10 minutes and it looked like it. She did not like this and gave him attitude when he sat back down. Overall, a very low impression of this salon. I'm sure there is a high quality salon somewhere in Baton Rouge. Avatar is not it! read more
