This was my very first visit to Aveda institute. My experience was more than I hoped for. The front desk staff was courteous, smiling, and checked me right in. My stylist, Olivia Thibodeaux, was knowledgeable, personable, listened to what I wanted to do with my hair, and gave me the exact look that I was hoping for. She was thorough with my low lights and cut. Everything blended so well and looked so natural. Seanna is great. She is very knowledgeable, sweet, and good at her job. The instructors need to stop contradicting one another and having so many disagreement, especially in front of customers. Angie talks to the students like they are not knowledgeable and skirts around their questions. She is also very in your face and kind of rude to the customer. They keep up with the most current hairstyle and the students instructors come by to follow up on the students progress and possible questions. I keep finding lots of 5 star attractions here in Lafayette area of all kinds. Same here. Nice school setup here. More than my local school at home area. More so than any other school setup I've been. I called in for appointment and able right away and I was near also. Most things have a way of working smoothly. Macy doing duty for me. So a nice massage to begin on neck and shoulders. So Macy has told me the school also offers massage and facials. So am prepping for facial as they didn't hqve time for both. Amenities are many here. A foot soak and lotion included but I declined. Lots of attention here from guidance staff and student both. Very impressed positively and absolutely must return. read more

I wish I could leave this review with no stars. If you're looking into going here for education. Don't. I'm currently a student here and it's been a long six months due to the administration lack of intelligence and professionalism. The first incident started while I was at my locker getting my things ready for class and heard instructors talking about a student who accidentally went into the "teachers lounge" to get a plastic fork. I have more documented incidents of complete idiotic and petty examples such as these. But I'll keep my review short. Some of the instructors are completely helpful while others are there to be in the clock to make our lives a living hell bc their personal lives are in the gutter. Tragic ain't it. But I will say the women I met there that were my classmates are lifetime friends. I will miss them. Also, while enrolled we got exposed to covid and administration didn't take the necessary means of school closure. Therefore, instructors and students were exposed. But they're so money driven that they continue to open and a two weeks later closed. But they never told us why. All in all, the Aveda way is one of the best ways to learn just not the Lafayette location. read more

NEVER GO TO AVEDA UNLESS YOU WANT TO WASTE YOUR TIME AND MONEY! My wife spent 8 hours getting highlights in her hair. The student received minimal instruction from the "instructor". After 8 hours the student still could not get the highlights done correctly. There were 5 distinct colors of highlights. She only wanted one color of highlights. We had a 12:30 PM on Saturday the 26th of July 2014, but after arriving there and getting the runaround by the staff, we asked for a refund. They acknowledged that it would be difficult to correct the mistakes made by the student the day before. Since we paid a Professional price ($87) for the service, we asked if a Professional could repair the mistakes, they said no, only students. When asked if the student would receive direct instruction by the instructor, they said that they have 12 students for each instructor. That was NOT what I had asked her. The woman was evasive when asked a direct question. This happened multiple times, and it was apparent that they did not want to spend the effort to try and correct their mistakes. It would only cause more damage to my wife's hair, and most likely do not have the talented Professionals that it would take to make it right. How can you teach a student to do a procedure correctly if the instructor is incompetent? I am only giving Aveda Institute one star, to show that I did not forget to rate it. This was my first time trying Aveda. I have a 5 year old daughter. You would think with a lot of people with kids, when I called to make an appointment they would have mentioned about kids between the aged of 6-12 need supervision that they can't come in the back. I was not told this on the phone nor did I receive a conformation email after being asked. So I brought my daughter with me and was going to let her play on my phone to keep her occupied while I got my hair cut and colored. After getting there I was asked how old she was and when I told them 5 they asked if I had anyone to watch her. I was like no I don't my fiance is at work and I have no one else to watch her. I understand that they have a policy in place, but Aveda needs to make sure they let potential customers when they are making an appointment that children under the age of 12 need to be supervised. read more

the Aveda Institute is AWESOME! i was driving down johnston and happened to notice the aveda institute. my friends in chicago and indianapolis are big fans of their local Institute, so i figured it was time i got in on this action...plus, i was tired of looking like a hobo with scraggly hair. i checked out their webpage and was blown away by the sweet deals. i called to make an appointment and was able to get one for the next day. fast forward to today. everyone that i came in contact with at the Institute was super friendly...and not just friendly, but super sweet. it seemed like they were all really happy to be there. upon check-in, i was offered water or hot tea...get the tea...it's DELICIOUS. the receptionist told me that someone would come out and call my name in a few moments. **a little background** i was super nervous about getting my hair cut...not just here, but in general. i've had a regular stylist for years, but i'm in town for a few months for work. i had doubts...would someone in school know what they were doing? would i be able to find someone as hip and stylish as the kids in chicago? after those thoughts passed through my brain, i figured, you know what? whatever. it's hair. it grows back. besides, even though the services are done by students, they're under the direct supervision of licensed educators. however, all my doubts and fears were put to rest when jessie came out and called my name. she's awesome. let me say it again, Jessie is awesome. she's so stylish herself, i knew i was in good hands. she showed me to her chair and asked me what i wanted to do. i explained to her that i was tired of the hobo look and i loved layers. we talked for a bit; she asked questions to make sure she knew exactly what i wanted, and then she called over an educator and told them what she was going to do. and then the fun began: 1. scalp and shoulder massage...oh to die for! 2. shampoo...wonderful! jessie got a bunch of products and we actually spent a bit of time at the wash station (is it just called a sink? i swear there's a term for it). 3. the first cut. jessie did a cut to get my length even, and then she called over the educator again to show her the work. 4. blow dry 5. the good stuff. jessie asked if i wanted to take some weight off the back and i said, yes please! so she began layering and layering. after a while, she stopped and asked me to run my fingers through my hair to see how i liked how it was feeling. i really liked that she did that. when Jessie was finished, the educator came over again, and took a look at her work. she asked me how i liked the cut, and i had to be honest...i LOVED it! it was exactly what i wanted but more...upon Jessie's suggestion, she cut my bangs concave to frame my face..i hadn't even thought of that, but the result was super cute! the entire experience was wonderful. and i never felt rushed. you know how sometimes they're trying to get you out of chair because the next appointment is coming up? i never felt that way. Jessie took her time and it let me really enjoy the entire visit. Bottom Line: The Aveda Institute is FANTASTIC and Jessie RULES! read more

I've gone here for cuts, colors, treatments and more for years. So I'm very disappointed to leave such an awful review. I was scheduled for a cut and color. I was lightening my hair and trimming it while adding shape to my layers. I had one instructor and student when I arrived. We determined the details of each of my services. Half way through the students changed and my former instructor left the building. So with a hair full of bleach my new instructor and student had to try to figure out what was supposed to be done to my hair. My appointment began at 11 am. At almost 3 o'clock my hair still wasn't done. After washing the color out she started drying my hair. She didn't know that I had scheduled a haircut. I had plans so 4 hours after my appointment began I left the salon with wet hair hair that wasn't cut an partial highlights that weren't toned. With this being said, the director was very apologetic. She didn't try to make excuses. Unfortunately they've lost a client and I will have to find another salon to finish my hair. read more

I was a loyal 3 year customer to this salon because I love the stylists and after missing a hair appointment do to an unforeseen emergency, and even coming in in person later that day to apologize and explain what happened, I later received a phone call from the owner saying that I was not welcome back because they will not tolerate customers being late or absent. I was a student at this place. I had to call many meetings because they weren't teaching me the things I needed to know to get my license and even after the fact that they weren't teaching me was brought to their attention and leaderships attention nothing changed. So because I was not getting my education I stopped going to school as much. And after my third and last meeting with them I got hurt my ankle was hurt and I was out when I went back to school they told me I couldn't go to school until I had this whole letter for my doctor and the day before my doctor's appointment they called to tell me that they were dropping me from the program. After that I went in to get my stuff out of my station and locker and my brand new wand for curling hair is gone and my brand new blow-dryer is gone the two of those items together are over $1,000 I am a single mother a struggling single mother who is trying to get my life together and these people set me up so they could drop me. I would not recommend going to this place for anyting they are terrible to their students they don't care if we pass our state board test all they care about is that we're there and we have to work for free for them so they can make money I have seen them call somebody in just sign the contract saying even if you quit tomorrow you have to pay him the whole amount of money and the very next day they kicked that person out of school they are very fraudulent they are liars and they don't care about anybody read more
