I had some issues understanding how the order process varies from state to state and when I called in today I spoke with Precious and she took all the time and thoroughly looked up my insurance and noticed that my second insurance was not in the system, she then made sure to enter all the necessary information and it helped me save more on my prescription. I had another issue of needing certain medications today and she was able to reach out to the Sacramento California office to make the necessary changes to get me my medication instantly she took care of all the necessary changes while I waited on the phone. This is a small specialty pharmacy for fertility meds. I have been using them since 2017 as they go along with my insurance. The staff here are very nice, once they get your prescription, they will you and ask you if you want to pick it up or have it delivered at home. It can be ready today, or the next day depending on the medicine availability. Heather is always on point on ordering my refills since my medicines have to be ordered from their main pharmacy. Once my medicines come in, they call me for pick up - I opted to pick up my meds. The staff are never rude and they will work with you to get discounts if your insurance doesn't cover your meds. Where else can you get that kind of service. As a special pharmacy, they are always busy but they make sure that you are well taken cared of. I will always go back to this pharmacy. read more

The employees here are very nice! They had exactly what I needed and I assumed it would be a long wait because there were so many people in this tiny waiting area, but I was there no longer than 15 minutes. They were so helpful. I was supposed to get another prescription sent over and they didn't have it, but the girl who answered the phone did a little research (without me having to ask) and just refilled my old prescription because I had one left. The service here is great, the employees seem to really care, and they are more than happy to sit you down with a pharmacist if you have any questions. It is so annoying having to get my meds here! There is always a problem! Every time My doctor puts in an order, which is very time sensitive because I'm am going through fertility, they never have it ready. Or they can't find the order. You cannot get through the phone ever! They have put in a new phone phone system that sucks!!!!! Basically you can be speaking to someone in Colorado or Arizona... and they can never find your order... the order that your doc put in in. So now after you've been holding for 25 min, you get put on hold again so they can go search for your order!!! What an absolute waste of time and energy. Get it together!!!!!!!!!! My clinic dropped the ball on my time sensitive medication script request and was going to make me pay full price for a med because they didn't get prior authorization within the proper timeframe. I'm a provider that prescribes a ton of Xifaxan as well as Hepatitis C meds. I don't send these meds to any other pharmacy because the folks at Avella have proved time and time again that they go above and beyond for our patients. Xifaxan has a very expensive copay even when it's covered by insurance and Grace works with the patients to get patient assistance through the manufacturer! This is needed because this patients are often encephalopathic and would have difficulty doing it for themselves. No retail pharmacy does this. Usually the patient hears the copay, says forget it, and I don't know the patient didn't fill the drug until the next visit. With Avella, we are kept informed during every step of the process (PA, appeals, confirmations, etc.) and Grace keeps an open line of communication with my MA. We can't say enough about our experience with Grace and the rest of the staff at Avella pharmacy. They are absolute rockstars! read more

Avella Specialty Pharmacy specializes in HIV, Hep C, infertility, and chemotherapy medications. What makes a specialty pharmacy different than a regular one? Customer service. Usually specialty medications take more time getting processed, from getting prior authorizations, calling doctor's offices, to finding coupon cards. They make sure that their customers are satisfied. One thing that they also do is take their time to counsel. They have a private room that their customers can go into for special education on their medications. If you're new to injections, they will demonstrate how to take it and if you are too scared to do it yourself, they even offer giving the shot for you each time you need it. They are very thorough in making sure you are comfortable with how to take any medication. If you're looking to fill a medication that they specialize in, this is the place to go! read more

I've used a couple local specialty pharmacies in town. This one, by far, has been a great experience for me. They called me right back. Got what I needed quickly. I went to pick it up (they have delivery too but I chose to pick it up because I was nearby). The parking was easy and convenient (went to the back, Theres a small covered garage as well), the line was minimal and quick, the front desk person was quick, checkout was quick. I had another question and the manager was quickly called. Spoke with her and another gentleman and they answered my question easily. By far the easiest and most convenient pharmacy ever. Update: I called for another refill of my compounded medication and the day it was to be delivered I got a phone call saying they forgot to ship it and it wouldn't be here on the day they promised it. I show up to pick it up the next day and they tell me the Lovenox I also ordered was not placed even though I called the Las Vegas location to refill both prescriptions. They had no explanation, just that the person who took my call must have forgotten to refill it. This place is a joke! It's not right to constantly mess up this bad and still be in business! read more

I'm only docking one star because one of the girls at the front does not give the best customer service, she looks like she has an attitude, doesn't really smile. I needed help and she just told me I don't know, call my insurance and call my doctor. She also shouldn't be smacking her gum when talking to patients, it's rude. I used Avella because they had to compound meds that I couldn't get at other pharmacies in the valley. They were very patient with me as I sorted out issues and miscommunications with my doctor's office and insurance company. They were always kind and very tolerant over the phone as I asked questions (many of them over and over) and were very easy to work with. They had convenient options for getting my medications to me on time... free delivery to my home or doctor's office or pickup from the pharmacy... One of the other reviewers mentioned that they helped her locate coupons. I wish they had done that for me as I had expressed concern about the cost of these prescriptions not covered by insurance, but didn't know whether or not coupons existed (and still don't, so maybe this is a moot point). One star off because one of the medications did not come with an information pamphlet (yes, I actually do read those, LOL), although I've been told by out of state friends that they didn't get one for the same prescription, so maybe it's up to the doctor to educate the patient for this particular medication. Overall this is a nice establishment to deal with, which is great because it's apparently the only place in the valley where I could have gotten these prescriptions filled. read more

Every time my doctors order medication from this pharmacy I have to hound them for days to actually receive the product. Most of the time I end up running out of time waiting for delivery and having driving to this local Vegas location, but my latest medication was not available locally. It was ordered at the beginning of the month, the day before I needed it I called and they said I would receive it between 1 and 8 p.m. the next day - it never came. I called today (the day after it was supposed to be delivered) and now they say I will receive it tomorrow - two days after I was supposed to begin taking it. Due to the nature of the medication it is something I absolutely needed to start yesterday. Now I am waiting to hear from my doctor on what we will have to do because they failed to deliver. This is just one of many issues I've had with them - most of the time I get bounced around from locations, who never seem to understand where something is supposed to be coming from or when. They also have sent injectable medications without sending any needles. They have said something would be ready at the location but when I arrive it isn't - nothing like waiting around a pharmacy with a bunch of people in the middle of a pandemic when you are in a high-risk class. Ultimately, I do not recommend giving them your business, and if you have no other option to, be sure to set reminders to call them three days before, two days before, the day before, and the morning of the day you need your medication, otherwise you won't get it. read more

In a busy healthcare industry, it's hard to encounter professionals that still go above and beyond. Avella has met my expectations but Precious, the tech, really goes out of her way to make sure patients are getting the right med and at the right price. We had multiple insurance changes and even after my call dropped from awful reception, she not only investigated the situation after trying to make out what I was trying to say but she promptly called back and answer all the questions I was trying to say and any other question I could think. I am so thankful for this pharmacy, I was going out of town, and needed an early fill for my medication, my doctor , approved it, my insurance company approved it, but Walgreens would not approve to fill it, even after speaking with my doctors office. this is quite possibly the WORST pharmacy of all time. I have had nothing but bad experiences with them. I am ALWAYS on hold for over 30 minutes. They have no idea what is going on. They can't check their systems correctly to see which prescriptions are called in and I am constantly calling my doctor to check to make sure prescriptions are called in when all Avella had to do is check their system correctly. I have wasted so much time driving there when prescriptions aren't ready even when I already called and they said they were They almost made me miss a cycle of medications because they weren't prepared. I literally HATE this pharmacy. I would not recommend it to my worst enemy. read more

Apothocary Shops...now Avella Specialty Pharmacy....well it was great when was Apothocary Shops, very attentive and never had a problem filling a prescription, then when it switched to Avella, EVERYTHING went wrong!!! Suddenly my prescriptions couldn't be filled here in Vegas any longer?? Not sure what that's about?? They had to be filled in AZ...talk about a flakey pharmacy and mailed to me. They couldn't get the prescription right the first month, second month they tripled my co payment?? Now it's time for my prescription to be filled for the 3rd month and this morning they tell me they can't fill it because they don't have the medicine and won't have it for another week!!! Really??? Avella has terrible service. I use a special medication that NEVER runs smoothly to get it. I usually end up waiting weeks after it it supposed to be filled to get it. They don't call it in until I call to say I'm going to come in and pick it up while I'm thinking it's ready. Nope this time my pick up was the 6 today is the 16 and MLK holiday. When it was Apothecary, my meds were sent on time and everything was great. The second it went to Avella, nothing but issues. I originally planned for my meds to be to mailed to me. A couple of times, they were late because of their negligence. Several months later, I did not receive my monthly supply and called, only to be notified that they had not received permission from my doctor for the refills, only to find out it was lie. Next, I was told they didn't contact me because "there was a glitch with their system". This month, I, once again, did not receive my meds for the exact same reason as before. Avella, you are playing with people's health and their lives and I will not let you gamble with my health anymore. read more

I have had excellent experiences with Avella. They do refills very quickly. The meds that have to be made elsewhere were overnight shipped to my home. As for the cost of meds, clearly specialty meds are expensive but Avella has helped me locate coupons and allowed me to reuse the coupons again and again, saving me quite a bit of money. In addition, the location is very centrally located. Only negative is a very small parking lot out front, but that's no big deal. I'm very pleased and the staff is pleasant. read more

This pharmacy cannot keep it's information straight! I've never had so much difficulties with a pharmacy! The agents call multiple times when you have already spoke with someone, paid, and scheduled transport. They would charge you multiple times and delive double medications if you didn't correct them! Ok, this is long overdue! I owe a huge apology for two reasons. The first reason is because this is about a month overdue, and the other reason is because the very kind and supportive pharmacist who went out of her way to ensure the delivery of my medication I have forgotten her name and I hope the people at Acela reading this will be able to figure out who it is.My first name is on this post and I have been with this pharmacy for four months. On the particular occasion that I am referring to is when this wonderful person drove up to Northwest Summerlin to drop off my medication at Albertson's where I met her and if it wasn't for her I would have been without my medication that I have to take every single day for the rest of my life. No way am I trying to be dramatic but someone who understood the severity of me having this medication and went out of her way to make sure that I have it is an angel. I'm impressed with the level of service in this pharmacy. Everyone I have dealt with has been nice and professional so far. The people at Avella helped me get assistance with paying for my meds before my insurance kicked in. I've had issues with my insurance as far as needing prior authorizations for my meds and I did not know that. They helped me get started with the prior auth and also helped me to obtain a short term supply so that I wouldn't go without it in the meantime. I've never been to a pharmacy that went above and beyond to help their customers. Other pharmacies would just tell me to call my insurance and tell me I need something like a pre-auth (something I initially didn't know what it was and I'm sure a lot of others don't know as well) and leave me confused. They deserve 5 stars because without their help I probably would have been without my prescription for a while not knowing what I needed to do. I will keep going there for my long term specialty meds for as long as I'm on this prescription and as long as my insurance covers that pharmacy. Satisfied customer here :-) read more

This specialty pharmacy has a kind staff, outstanding service, and great prices. I spoke with three staff members while getting meds for IVF, they called immediately to try and put some meds through my insurance if possible, and to ask if I was in the savings programs. Later she returned my call with a cost, and delivery plan. Excellent Service. If you are wanting reduced IVF medication prices, Avella takes part in a couple of programs others in the area do not. First, sign up for Design RX before you need the meds which reduces the IVF meds by a bit. Second, Avella used another plan, First Steps to reduce some others by 5% or so. If you are a Veteran, check out Fertility Lifelines and their Compassionate Care (automatic 25% discount, up to 75% discount) and Compassionate Corps (service connected injury affecting fertility - 100% free EMD Serono meds, you pay about 1K out of pocket for remaining meds). But you need to apply to these programs right after the consult with doc, do your research a bit early so you get all the discounts you deserve. Avella's pharmacist took the time to sit down with me and go through the entire contents of the bag, and explained the self injections. Todd was extremely kind and knowledgeable. The med bag contained everything I would need without even asking: a home sharps container, alcohol wipes, needles, and meds. Best pharmacy service I have ever received. read more

I've been with Avella for many years, starting as a patient back when it was still called Apothecary. Their excellent customer service has never wavered. When I first started getting my medication filled with them, not only was the process quick and easy, they introduced me to medication discount programs through each of the manufacturers which significantly lowered my monthly co-pay. Programs which I would not have known about otherwise. And they made that process effortless as well; I now feel empowered and confident whenever I speak with these companies, armed with the education I've received from the pharmacists and staff at Avella. The process can get very complicated and stressful, and time and again, the staff members at Avella are in my corner, helping me navigate the different bureaucracies that can make medication adherence almost impossible. I say "almost," because I am now celebrating ten years on my meds, and I haven't missed a day. That is no small part because of the folks at Avella.
