Airline always with delay and maintenance problems we have already been 2 hours late on the plane bound for Miami due to maintenance problems. The plane is full of people waiting for them to find the manual the solution meanwhile the more than 20 children on board cry desperately while the captain walks from one side to the other of the plane without giving further explanation a risk in my opinion. We had back packs that we were charged for and they fit neatly under the seat. Also we cancelled the upgrade on our seats and didn't get the refund! Landing at LAX was horrible and landing in Santa Rosa was even worse! No customer service! Just total rudeness! read more

On time KCWA and KMCO we purchased seat for extra legroom and was worth it. Did not have any checked baggage and made sure what was carried on board had everything needed in it. It is a low cost airline and we expected what we got. Will use them again if we can. read more

Worst airline for delays and no customer service support! Examples of issues: 1) After two security check points in STS....a customer was allowed to get on flight to wrong destination... Was going to Burbank and got on Vegas trip. We were already delayed and delayed even further to let her off the plane and staff incompetencies. 2) Avelo changed flight status from 4PM departure to 9 am departure and was delayed ALL day and left at 330 PM! I was at airport for a 9am departure that left at original start time. Again, no apologies, just incompetencies. No one seems to care. Same STS to Vegas. 3) Now, in Vegas back to STS, tire has a cut...no tire available. Coming from Burbank to STS to Vegas...may get here to not! When trying to rescheduled flight, there is ABSOLUTELY NO CUSTOMER SUPPORT! NO ONE to answer the phone or assist. LONG delays and then when someone answers, they can't help you!!!! Airline is a total disaster! There is NO ONE to help you!! UNBELIEVABLE! You will fly at your own risk! Avelo doesn't have the resource to be a great airline! read more

Flight was delayed because of thunderstorms in Vegas, That is understandable. But to sit for HOURS while we wait for clearance on the plane with NO AIR was torture! Do not fly - note if you make a change or cancel your flight you DO NOT get your money back instead you get a travel credit that must be used within one year. Also the travel credit can only be used by the individual passenger of the original ticket. An what worse if in order to use a travel credit you have to call customer service and be on hold for a least an hour to use the travel credit. The Flights are not as cheap as you originally think after you add luggage $40 each way and pay for your seat and all the fees and taxes added. read more

I am beyond impressed with our experience on Avelo ! We flew Charleston to New Haven and back again- everyone we came in contact with could not have been kinder or more helpful TSA included! Shoutout to flight attendant Cara XP485 she is absolutely amazing! This woman is fantastic at her job -the epitome of customer service! Everyone should be like her... you can see how much she enjoys her job! We were lucky enough to have her both flights! Yes, they are cheap, $29 on a good day but if you are delayed, if they cancel, if anything goes wrong and you sit in the airport for hours like I did...6 hours to be exact, then they will give you a whopping $25. refund. Love being able to fly out of my home city but their PR is deplorable. NO response to e-mails, long hold when I inquire as to recompense for my much delayed flight, and then the insult of $25 for 6 hours waiting plus I bear the cost of an unexpected and expensive lunch at the ONLY restaurant at the concourse at Las Vegas that services Avelo. Yes, I will fly them but still feel as though they need to step up their 'we're sorry' game. Oh, and they do not honor TSA precheck either, so be prepared for a long line to get through security! read more

The WORST Customer Service from an airline ever! My sister's 2:55 flight out of Santa Rosa was delayed until 9pm when a Spirit Airplane arrived to take her to LA. No communication from the staff about what the issue was. They were told they could leave the area, but all Avelo employees left and come to find out they needed to be scanned by an Avelo employee to leave the area. It takes a minimum of 1 hour to speak to someone, which is necessary because all functions are not available online. After holding for 30 minutes, a recording offered the option to press 2 for a call back, which I did and was promptly hung up on. Called back and held for 57 minutes, ignoring the call back message, spoke with a "Crew Member" who was hardly responsive to my questions. When I let him know about being disconnected after using the #2 call back option, he hung up on me. They obviously don't employ enough people, or it may be the quality of the employees. The obnoxious rudeness is unacceptable. Give me Alaska Airlines any day!! read more

Really upset with their website. When I booked flights, I used a code for a discount. That was never applied. 4 of us were supposed to travel and we had to cancel... there is a pop up that says there is no fee to change or cancel at any time... what I didn't realize is that they will not charge a fee, but they won't give you your money back either.. and issue vouchers for the 4 people we booked seats for. 2 of them refuse to ever fly because of a recent situation with Covid-19... so I threw money away and Avelo doesn't really care. Majorly glitchy website when checking in. Then had to pay for two checked bags where I got charge double the bag amount. Ticket lady said just call and they will refund. Called customer service from from the airport. No answer and waited almost an hour. Tried their online chat feature which just kept closing out because there was nobody available in customer service. So I sent an email to them and received and email back from Avelo confirming my request. All this was before our flight. The next day I get an email back from a guy named Robert with their customer service saying they cannot refund because we had already traveled. Shady and sleazy imho. We recently flew from Daytona Beach, FL to Wilmington, (new Castle), DE and back on Avelo Airlines. Did not know that we had the second portion of their inaugural flight when I booked it. So there was a 5 hour delay on the original portion of the flight but once it arrived, disembarked and we were on board, it was smooth flying all the way to Delaware. They are a no frills airline and the seats are a bit smaller than i would have preferred. Those small inconveniences aside, i would definitely fly and highly reccommend Avelo Airlines again. read more

They have a hard stop 15min doors closed policy so if you get stuck in traffic or stuck with tsa but arrive before your departure time with the plane still visible on the tarmac they will not help get you on the plane. They say that policy is on your ticket but oh oops not on the digital ticket. read more

I would give it a zero star if possible. They have the worst customer service ever. If they can't help with a request they simply hang up and blame it on their phone system. They even warn you of this on their voicemail prior to waiting on hold for over an hour. No reasons, no excuses, little updates except to say flight would be later and later. Return flight Monday night now delayed 2 hours and fifteen minutes. No idea why. THE WORST!!!! I booked a flight on September 14, 2022 for a round trip from Newport News, Virginia to Ft. Lauderdale, Florida from Tuesday, December 13-Sunday, December 18, 2022. I received an email on Monday, December 12, 2022 with a confirmation of my flight. leaving THURSDAY, December 15, 2022!!! Thinking there was a technical error, I called Avelo(only to wait on hold for 45 minutes). The rep that I spoke to said that my flight had been postponed! 2 DAYS!!!!! I was so surprised that I had never received an e-mail or phone call to let me know of the change!!! I just informed Abelo Airlines that I would be telling all my airline peeps & family not to use them. i made a reservation on March 17th only to find that the fees were lowered on April 7th. I called them to change the booking & a refund of $135.00. To my surprise no monies would be fue me but travel credits. Every single time I have flown with Avelo my flight has been changed the week prior pushed back by hours. they might even change it a coupke times the week prior Pushing it back by hours each time. EVERY single time two hours before your boarding they will push it back by hours again. You think you're paying for a "cheaper" flight but every time they end up taking an entire day away from you so you're really not getting a better deal. Go with a different airline and pay more for the reliable aspect. This is not just, one time oh it happens with flights, this is every single time I have flown with them now. I kept trying because it's a direct flight which cuts off two hours traveling home but it's not even worth it. I have one more trip paid for already then I won't be flying with them again. read more

I've always had a good experience with Avelo. Friendly people, very inexpensive flight(sometimes $40) and very convenient for me being so close to Santa Rosa. You do have to pay to choose a specific seat, but one time I didn't pick a seat and was flying with someone who bought their ticket separately and the staff set us up with seats next to each other when we checked in. One free carry on bag that fits under the seat(usually this is enough for me for my whole trip, so I don't pay for anything but the actual flight). The only downside is there's very few flight options. One flight during the day and not every day of the week. read more

Rather than be honest they kept delaying the flight and when they finally canceled, which we knew well before they notified us, we tried to make arrangements on their last flight out while we were at the airport and the woman behind the counter just handed us the number to customer service. I immediately call and after two hours on hold the guy disconnects from us. A total waste of 2 hours and 32 minutes. I then had to start the process again. That's where I'm at now. Waiting.... I was skeptical at first with hardly any reviews, but Santa Rosa CA to Vegas, NV and back was wonderful. On-time one-way, slight delay due to fuel on way back, less than 20mins. Helpful, polite staff, clean and seats had tons of leg room. I didn't select my seat prior to boarding as I didn't want to occur another added cost and both flights I was fortunate enough to get the a whole row to myself. Im sure that's just a lucky happenstance since they're fairly new. Be advised that you have to pay to bring on a carry-on as well as check a bag and it's more expensive to do so at the gate. (Carry-on was great, plenty of room, I didn't deal with baggage claims.) They also don't serve any snacks or refreshments, but have no problem with food and drinks being brought aboard, so plan accordingly. With budget airlines, you have to pay for every single thing, its the nature of the cheap option. At least you know what every cost is and going towards. Easy and friendly, will fly again. read more

Thought we had our flights all dialed in for a December trip to LaVegas but, alas, NO! They first moved our scheduled dates out a few days which might have been fine but, the next day they flat out cancelled! We purchased crazy expensive tickets for a Raiders game because we counted on Sonoma County Airport and their choice in Avelo as a new carrier! Beware of using Avelo and Sonoma County Airport until they get their act together. Very disappointed. read more

This was my very first flight on Avelo Airlines & the return trip was a NIGHTMARE experience!! :( Not only did they change my departure flight to a day earlier than I had previously booked, without any notification, but they also changed my seat, which I PAID FOR! This caused me to miss my granddaughter's concert which was the main reason for booking for the specific dates that I originally booked for! And they changed my seat to the very last row in the plane which was just miserable, with no leg room & I couldn't even move my seat back because there was a wall behind me. Some of the employees at the tiny New Haven, Connecticut airport were very rude, too & were screaming at everyone. (I know it was not just me, because the lady sitting next to me said that they yelled at her too.) My checked bag arrived very beat up too. :( The only good thing that I can say about it is the flights were both on time & within the time limits promised, but it's unfortunate that the customer service was so lacking because it does not make me want to fly with them again. I might also add, that although the flight itself was very reasonably priced, they nickel & dime you to death on everything else, like the baggage & seats, & they offer absolutely no snacks or beverages, so you better not travel hungry. I'm just GLAD that it was only a 21/2 hour flight, because it was not a good experience. :( read more

Using this airline started out fine. The a'la carte pricing is too much, but it's a budget airline, so they try to tack on fees for everything. Started noticing flights being delayed or cancelled after 6 hours of waiting at the airport. Poor communication, horrible customer service. Trying to call is a joke. I've waited 45 min on hold for customer service which are just remote workers who give poor service. This airline will be bankrupt in no time. read more
