I had an amazing experience in Lima restaurant delicious plates love the ceviche caretillero and lomo saltado Chef/owner karlo caceres and his team give you a unique Peruvian cuisine experience and every dish. The service is very organized and punctual as soon you walk at the door Glenda/manager give you a very warm welcome and make you feel like home The place is very clean prices affordable And is byob Worth the trip to visit this Peruvian restaurant If you lucky might find there eating some of the Peruvian singers like Tony succar and other Tony visits this restaurant when he is in chicago There is a Peruvian flag on the wall sign by Tony succar and mimic succar. This restaurant has banquet hall which you can rent for your private party.

Having a taste for Peruvian food, we decided to stop in and give this place a try. You can tell this place is fairly new, service was quick and the food was delicious. It is a BYOB to make sure to pick up your bottle before you step in although there is a liquor store a few doors down. My only disappointment was that our entree, the Lolo Saltado lacked meat.

    Tacu Tacu a Lo Macho

Amazing Mother's Day dinner at Lima Restaurant. I was feeling particularly indecisive this year. We made 2-3 reservations that we ended up cancelling because I couldn't pin down exactly what I felt like. I love Peruvian food but we've been to every Peruvian restaurant in the city a bunch of times but on an off chance a Google search pulled up this newer gem. When I saw they had a seafood tacu tacu, I flipped. I've been chasing that dish for years. Even tried to make it but it never measured up to that first dinner I had in Lima. It's such a rare find on a Peruvian menu, so elusive but here it was and it was outstanding! We also had the spicy ceviche which they actually made spicy. My husband had the steak huancaina pasta which was very good but I liked my dish better and that was ok because he liked his better--worked out! It was such a nice family vibe inside. All families just sharing love and good food. It seemed to be family run and they were so sweet and understanding. For example, bringing out our daughters' salchipapa dinners with our ceviche appetizer, something that might seem small but makes a big difference in making a meal out enjoyable. Such kind, friendly people and outstanding food. It's a drive for us but worth it--we will be back. So glad to come here for Mother's Day dinner!

The food is meant to be shared, so we got a little bit of everything. My highlights were the goat empanadas, the duck salad and the steak main course. I wasn't the biggest fan of the pollo (a tad dry) but we're talking one out of 7 dishes that didn't blow me away. The setup is Insta-worthy, and I liked the fact that the bar had a decent number of seats (so if you come solo, there shouldn't be a problem most nights.) Highly recommend

You get a panoramic view of Chicago while being surrounded by lively chatter and ambient mood lighting, making it perfect for a night out. The staff were polite and super attentive, service was a 10/10. I had a great time, but there's one word I would describe the food--salty. Keep in mind, I love salt, some might say even too much (my friends & family definitely have). However, these dishes pushed me beyond my salt limit. I may have even left with hypertension. We ordered: 1. Goat Empanadas served with a huacatay mayo ($18) - 9/10 This was the best dish that we ordered. It was well seasoned with a flakey, delicious empanada dough but it tasted like any other good empanada I've had and definitely not worth the price. 2. Salmon Ceviche* with pistachio smash, avocado leche, and puffed rice ($22) - 7/10 Fatty salmon with citrus are a beloved combination, so no complaints from me. You can definitely get this anywhere else or make it yourself and be satisfied though. 3. Hot Chorizo & Queso Dip with herby chimi, chip crunch, & flatbread ($18) - 6/10 VERY chorizo forward to the point it dominated dip. The citrus from the chimichurri added a nice tanginess. I couldn't appreciate the cheese flavor which I wanted but that depends on your preference. Surprisingly the fresh, fluffy flat bread & sweet potato chips were my favorite part. 4. Jalea Mixta which was fried calamari & shrimp, salsa criolla, & caper mayo ($22) - 4/10 Honestly a very generous portion. Something about it was sickeningly citrusy though so we had to force ourselves to finish the dish. I started developing a headache from all the sour & salty flavors. We were celebrating so they brought us complimentary Peruvian chocolate truffles (I didn't see it on their menu). It was kind of them but it was oddly the MOST salty bite of the night. We each took a bite & had to spit it out discreetly which was very unlike us. I can probably count on 1 hand the amount of times I've had to do that in my life. Also, I'd NEVER turn down a complimentary dessert but it seems like there's a first time for everything. Honestly maybe it's my fault for ordering this combination of dishes...but how can EVERY DISH be TOO salty?! I'm from Texas, so I don't shy away from salty, flavorful foods so I just think Cabra wasn't for me & I wouldn't return. I've tried multiple Goat-affiliated restaurants and despite my repeated mediocre culinary experience, I still keep giving them a chance. In the sea of glowing reviews, I just HAVE to check it out for myself (sometimes multiple times to make sure). So far, I'm not very impressed but I'll see you at my next Goat restaurant review.

The Aji de Gallina (from the menu: "Chicken in walnut sauce. Served with potato, boiled egg and white rice") was incredibly good, although it didn't taste like walnuts to me. Doesn't matter, I'd get it again. Service was great, our server was very nice and attentive. We went at a random time so we were the only people there. Music was not loud or non-existent (thank you). Excellent. The pollo saltado - chicken stir fried with onions and tomatoes. The sauce poured over French fries, so they soak in all the juices. A side of white rice makes for the perfect side. Rotisserie chicken - this was the reason we came, and damn did it deliver. Incredibly moist and full of flavor. The green pepper sauce it comes with pairs perfectly. It's got a little subtle kick to it. The staff was great and super friendly. Food came out quick and was so fresh. Prices are super reasonable, and portions are large. The dining room is large and comfortable but no frills - the focus is on the food, as it should be.

Not pictured, we got the Ceviche Clasico and oh my god if you ever go here please be sure to get this. We were too busy scarfing it down, I forgot to take a picture. Lastly the Perihuela Nikkei was absolutely delicious and had mahi mahi, shrimp, and clams. Whatever broth this was in was heaven, and I kept saying I wish I could make something like this at home. The atmosphere and service was amazing. Came on a Saturday night with no reservations and was able to be sat. Can't wait to come back here and bring more friends and family to try.

Happy hour on a Saturday? Sign me up!…read more We landed on Boleo as our option for early dinner for four of us before a tango concert and performance because it's South American, and we love a theme. We never expected happy hour to be relevant for us, but our wonderful server pointed it out. Since none of us had tasted pisco before she brought us a pisco sample to try. Three of the four of us ordered pisco cocktails, and they were great! The chilcano is a pisco variation on a Moscow mule. I'm not a big fan of mules, but I liked the chilcano a lot. Whenever I'm back, I'll probably go for the pisco sour, which one of our party had and also really enjoyed. The arroz chaufa was a nice satisfying dinner that wasn't too heavy for the early hour. The loma saltado and vegetable saltado were both very much enjoyed as well. Flan was just okay. The orange was a wonderful touch that probably saved something much too custardy for me to think of as flan. Service was absolutely great. Everyone we interacted with was super professional and easy going. We didn't know what to expect for the space, and when we arrived before sunset, it felt weird how bright it was in there. After sunset, the whole space felt a lot more swanky. Prices are a good value, even apart from the happy hour offerings. This is a great option for pre-show dining in the loop.

I think it is a bit overpriced overall. The lomo saltado was my least favorite. Heavier on the soy sauce taste than typical lomo saltado. The guacamole needed a little more salt/flavor.
