Amazing dinner (as always)! Started with Dave (the bow tie guy) White Blossom Sangria. Perfect summer drink, can't wait til they have them by the pitcher. Entree was Prime Sirloin with Oscar's Bernaise sauce with Garlic mashed potatoes and carrots and broccoli. The Bernaise had minced shrimp and crab and is to die for. I have been to this restaurant twice and both times, the food was delicious and the service was superb. I have a severe nut allergy and they were careful to make sure that I was safe eating there. The chef came out with the food and explained their exact process of making sure that my meal did not come in contact with any nut products. It was nice to go to a restaurant that took my allergy so seriously. Also, tacos are my favorite food and they have quite the selection of unique tacos on special and on their regular menu. Staying at an airport hotel but didn't want airport hotel food so I gave this a shot. Glad I did! Had the shawarma tacos and a cold beer, delicious! My fourth visit was last night and it was just as good, if not better, than the first! The food is amazing and the service is equally so. Upon entering, you're greeted with a genuine smile, "Hello" & a brief rundown of their soups, specials, and drink suggestions. Have I mentioned the food is amazing? The Parmesan Garlic Fries are some of the best fries I've had. The Eleanor sandwich...My God, it's a party in your mouth. The beer selection is great and again, the wait staff are equally so. They're kind, attentive and extremely accommodating. We had just as good of service from another waitress, as well as our own! If our waitress was with another table or running food, we still had our drinks full and table clear of trash & empty glasses by the other waitresses in the place. This place is fabulous & I love it! Staying by the airport in Detroit. Seriously not a ton of options...or even the familiar chains. My map app was somewhat helpful in showing it on the map. Decided to do some research on yelp and as it turns out, the positive reviews were dead on. Fun, relaxed atmosphere. Tasty food with generous portions. I had the specials of cauliflower corn chowder and falafel "tacos". Both excellent. Best though was the attentive friendly wait staff and the knowledgeable and attractive lady behind the bar who made all the right recommendations. So this review is loooooong overdue. I've been coming here off n on for years. I've been in the restaurant bar buisness for 22 years and been a bartender for the last 15 years. Ok 1st , the food is always on point. Always differant specials each week and by far the best food you can get within a 5 mile radius. "Best bar food" your gonna get. 2 .. Service is great. Never had one bad experience , which is almost unheard of. No matter if it's slow or busy. 3. Great place to watch sports. Large nice tvs everywhere and also projection screens keno n darts too. 4. Well ran, You can tell the owners care. One of them is always there and you wont find two nicer bar owners. 5. Great selection of bottle beer and always have a special unique menu of 4-6 craft cocktails ( not to mention 2$ domestic drafts everyday). If your anywhere close to this place. Give it a try. Weather it's for lunch or dinner or a weekend night when they have entertainment. You won't be disappointed. If so , tell someone and I promise you , they'll make it right. read more

The location is not the bast but the food is amazing. This place was a bit odd at first and seemed more like a sports bar. The inside had lots of tv and an small beer list with only 6 beers on tap though there mixed drinks looked pretty intense with a good variety. The food menu was very good with a decent amount of different styles of sandwiches and burgers. I ordered the sweet and spicy chicken sandwich and it is amazing. The fries were also great. The wait staff was perfect though some may feel they are pushy with up sales but I feel that is how you make money. I do feel the portions are very large but also pricey. They should lower the portions and price accordingly. Over all my biggest suggestion to them is to up their beer list and maybe the decor. Would recommend and will return. read more

One of Wayne's best kept secrets! Only one thing on my mind when I get to this restaurant.....the Chicken Shwarma Tacos. Oh boy.... I had never had them and my co-worker had given me one from her own carryout. It was so good, my family and I went that very night and got our own. The atmosphere is a little on the noisy side, but pretty low key. A great place to go to gab with friends, have a few drinks and eat, eat, eat!! The menu is pretty upscale and will leave your taste buds wanting more. The pricing was pretty reasonable for the portions you get. We ended up over ordering just so we would have leftovers. Everything brought to our table was simply delicious. Parking at the restaurant is a little crazy at times because they really get busy but the food is absolutely worth every penny. The hamburgers are enormous and outstanding. If you are hungry for incredibly delicious shwarma tacos, burgers or other items, you will not go wrong here. The waitstaff is always checking to make sure everything is okay and that you never go thirsty no matter what you're drinking...even if it's water! Come hungry. You won't be disappointed! The food was just ok. The cocktails were watered down. The service was great- I love how the waitresses work together. Me and a friend came for a few drinks and were very disappointed especially given the high ranking here on Yelp. I ordered a white cheddar burger (?) it was ok not that flavorful but the onion rings were really good. My friend got their buffalo wings and she said they were super salty that she couldn't eat them so she sent them back and got tenders instead. The tenders were huge and not salty. Our bill was kind of high considering what we got. I wouldn't have minded if the food and drinks were good, but they weren't. I'd never go here again: good service doesn't make up for the subpar food and watered down drinks. read more

I went to this restaurant for the first time the other night, and I must say I have a serious love/hate relationship. Parts I loved...... The food was amazing! Way above your typical sports bar fare. Lots of innovative dishes, made with fresh ingredients with lots of interesting choices. I had the roasted brussel sprout salad, which was wonderful. We also shared the jalapeno cheese dip, first with pretzels and then added tortilla chips (tasted freshly made, like in an authentic Mexican restaurant). It was perfect. Just the right amount of spicy. Our waitress was very attentive and friendly, kept our drinks refilled (pop and coffee) without us ever having an empty cup or glass. Now for the bad stuff...... Upon entering the parking lot, you have to be really careful as it's full of large cracks and potholes in the asphalt. Also need to be careful walking in, as it would be easy to fall in one of those holes if you weren't paying attention or had too many beers inside. The first room you enter looks like a large enclosed porch with a few tables and chairs, and reeked badly of cigarette smoke. Could be because this is apparently an illegal smoking area furnished by the restaurant, as there were ashtrays on the tables. It's been years since I've had to walk through a cloud of smoke to go inside a restaurant. As we were leaving, I heard a guest entering with a friend telling him that smoking was allowed in the restaurant, which his friend wasn't believing (because there's a law against that?). When I was able to breathe again after entering the restaurant, I found that hearing became an issue. Not totally unexpected, since this is a sports bar. But disappointing, since I'd wanted to have conversation with my family and it was hardly possible. After we were there a while, a girl with a guitar starting playing and singing in a folk type style. She was very good and I would have loved to hear her, but actually, it just added to the noise level. All in all, I think this restaurant is trying to have too much going on at once. It would be great if it were just a nice little restaurant with quiet entertainment (girl singing with guitar). But there is just WAY too much going on here and it seems like they can't decide what they want to be. I did love the food and may try it again earlier in the day, hoping they will have fixed the parking lot and gotten rid of the smoking area when I do. read more

I don't write many reviews even though I travel 30+ weeks a year for work but this place deserves one. I had the Bourbon Glazed Salmon special and it was delicious. The only reason Avenue American Bistro did not get 5 stars from me was due to the limited draft beer selection. I didn't count but they have less than 10 taps. Service was excellent. First time my drink way weighed down by a huge piece of pine apple was all ice and didn't taste any alcohol, we waited 25 mins for our waitress to bring boxes after we were done and someone else end up doing it she forgot about us, I had a call in order another time and waited 45 mins inside for chicken and buscuits in the bar area I was livid about to walk out but the did everything to keep me to stay. Our awesome waitress was Jay but it seems all the front of house staff works as a well-trained team to make customers feel welcome. All the young ladies who came to our table were extremely customer-oriented & very knowledgable of the menu - food and drinks. I had a Cucumber Smash, little pricey at $9 but it was delicious & had a very hefty serving of Hendricks gin so I felt that was worth it! My friend had a ginger - gin cocktail that was also yummy & strong. We shared the Sauteed Chicken Hummus appetizer, loved it! It's served with pita triangles & carrot & cucumber sticks, portion size was great, we were starving but actually took some home with us. I had the Chicken Feta Wrap w/ homemade chips & their creamy-garlicky Avenue sauce - delicious! Friend had the shrimp tacos, also excellent - the homemade coleslaw on them was to-die-for, she said. Not only has this place blown me away in their hospitality and service their food is among some of the best in the state, everyday there is a new special menu printed with several new specials and I have not had a single one that has not absolutely made me satisfied and crave more. My husband, son and I stopped here for dinner before a baseball tournament. We were blown away by the service. All of the staff was very attentive, without seeming pushy. They cleared our dishes without making us feel rushed. They were all so, so nice. Yvonne was our official server, but there were at least three or four other people who helped out. The food was just as good. I was expecting regular bar food, but it was so much better. There was a lot of variety on the menu, in addition to burgers and other sandwiches. I had salmon, and it was delicious. The atmosphere was more bar than restaurant, with lots of very big TVs, but I didn't really mind too much. The food and service made up for it.
