After confirming with our insurance that we were fully covered, they advised we had the option to go directly to Safelite's office or have a mobile unit come directly to us. I took the earliest availability which brought me to their facility. The process was an easy one. I entered at 8:50a.m. receiving pleasant greetings from the staff for my 9:00a.m. appointment. There's a decent sized, visibly clean waiting area but I chose to walk around outside as the weather was beautiful. The wait was short as I was back in my car by 9:30a.m. with a fully repaired windshield with no signs of damage. The service tech who assisted me, Alan, was a pro. He explained that there's a 15% chance of the crack not adhering to the repair, but based on Alan's exceptional work it's clear we fall in the 85th percentile. He told me that due to the climate and moisture it wouldn't be a perfect job and that makes sense as it was snowing with cold temps. Godfrey, a diminutive old man came out, and quickly determined what I needed (he called the dealership and took down estimates for the parts); he wrote the numbers on his hand (I thought it was funny). The total cost was a fraction of the other quotes. I put down a 25% deposit and returned the following weekend to get the work done. Mike (his son) took care of the work (replaced the run channel, shaped the window frame and attached the window sash) within an hour. This family operated business has been running for about 20 years. It is a small shop but the staff is friendly and my experience was positive.
