Clyde, a Maltese companion dog and the ruler of all he surveys.

In darkest times of the beginnings of the COVID 19 lockdown I managed to find this pleasant, efficient vet clinic to care for my little companion, Clyde. Though I've never met the doctor I can tell you that the staff are pleasant, animal sensitive people. Clyde has had everything from some major dental surgery to routine medical care. He seems anxiety free when I hand him over to the staff in their touchless COVID safety protocols and quite content when they return him to me. The clinic communicates rather efficiently by text and email. Clyde's regular vet is 1000 miles away so I am very happy to have found this conveniently located, trustworthy clinic to provide his care while I am on a contract job here in Tacoma. You guys rock and you got the Clyde stamp of approval as well as mine.

I had a hard time trying to find a place that would neuter my pup. Called this place n they took care of us immediately. Great staff they were all friendly n knowledgeable. Price I received was exactly what I was expecting (affordable). Hugh THANK U to all the staff for making us feel like regulars even tho it was our 1st visit. Special shout out to Shannon who started this whole thing with GREAT customer service.

I love my Veterinarian! Took N-Jelly in for her first visit at 8 weeks. Sent home with an appointment for next month and advice. Pet insurance and food recommendations. Great veterinarian and staff. We love you! Oh, on my fridge is a schedule of appointments for both my kittens because my vet does this to make sure I know! How cool!

I LOVE THIS PLACE!! I been there multiple times and every time it is a amazing experience for me an my fur babies! This morning I was brushing my large cat Oliver when I noticed a bold spot and what look like maybe a bite or abscess. I was SO worried! I waited tell nine when they opened called knowing I'm probably gonna have to wait a week for my baby to get seen. They got me in a hour after open even with a full day booked! I thought that was so amazing and nice! I got there with Oliver got him checked out the sweet lady that got him from me was so friendly and funny ! I love the staff! I know because of Covid I couldn't go in but I appreciated how they kept me so updated an calm while taken care of my fur baby! I highly recommend them! Now Oliver is relaxing and in the process of healing and feeling better!

Peanut at her last checkup and two weeks after she got sick. She gained a whole pound in two weeks!

I can't say enough about the awesome care Peanut gets when she go to the vet. It's easy to schedule an appointment for Saturday's and I can generally get an idea of the costs prior to her appointment. Also, the staff always makes sure all my questions and concerns are addressed. Finally, attached to my bill is a schedule of Peanut's upcoming vaccines and check ups so I can stay on top of her care. This place truly cares for your pet and it's easy to tell the entire staff chose their profession because they love animals.

I am big on word of mouth. My fur baby stepped on a nail last night. I ran to Walgreens on 56th to get supplies the manager there recommended Avenue Veterinary Clinic. I went today and they were so nice, quick to get me in, and gave my baby the TLC he deserves. The best service. A wonderful place to go during a pet emergency. And my bill was only $140. I've had emergency care at a different place before it cost me $800 and the service was terrible. Would recommend if you want honest people, animal lovers, and sincere. Thanks team for everything.

I am sorry to have to reveal the downside of this vet practice, but it must be done…read more In 4 years I saw all but one of the vets, and the turnover was high. Although Dr. Oden gave my IRWS very good care, when she moved on I was flipped to the senior vet, then to a spanking new vet who had graduated just a few months before. On this occasion, my dog waited 25 minutes for the tech in a claustrophobic room without a mat or rug (new doc didn't like the mat and had removed it, I was told). The tech mentioned she had been helping a colleague clip nails and lost track of time. It wasn't an apology for her tardiness, just an aside. The 20ish vet came in masked, and when I went to shake his hand he told me he was sick. Since I am immuno-compromised, this was not a great start. After telling me my dog's heart and lungs sounded great, and her teeth were gorgeous, he lectured me about her weight (appropriate and some good info). He then began explaining how to handle geriatric dogs. I listen for a minute, confused, before saying, "She is 4." He said he had mixed her up with his previous patient. She was lightly sedated for the appointment as previous vets had recommended (anxiety!) but she was right in front of him, is AKC, and her g-g-grand father was a contestant at Westminster--in no way does she look grey, stiff, or snaggle-toothed. I then brought up anxiety medicines. I wanted a change due to tremors and stomach issues in reaction to fluoxetine. Doc was stumped. He did not know of another anti-anxiety med. He suggested the brand-name version of the same medicine. I said her reactions indicated we need to try another entire family of meds and suggested a couple my VetMD search had turned up. He said he would do some research and email me. This is bread-and-butter veterinary care for a city-vet in the 21c, but after all, he was new. He did email a couple of days later, and suggested the only other dog-approved anxiety med (lots of human drugs are used off-label) with a very long taper, due to concerns about life-threatening "serotonin syndrome." In this he was confused. Serotonin syndrome is a reaction to too much serotonin-increasing medication (such as a dose increase), not abrupt withdrawal. Abrupt withdrawal is not as serious, though uncomfortable (brain zaps), and is called "discontinuation syndrome." I did not correct him (I regret that), but told him I was familiar with serotonin syndrome and wouldn't risk my dog's health. Ignoring my statement that the tablets were scored and easy to cut, he called in unneeded smaller mg tablets of her original medication not once, but twice. I cancelled them. Since the dog was already getting her med only 40% of the time, and I am a VERY experienced dog owner AND married to a psychiatrist, I was able to write him sooner than he anticipated (three weeks) to say she was almost weaned off it and since I was doing my monthly Costco run the next weekend, it would be convenient if the med were called in so I could pick it up then. This sparked an ANGRY email from him berating me for endangering my dog. I am guessing he has never gone off an antidepressant personally; his five week taper might (?) have been textbook, but not necessary in this case. She had been carefully monitored and had had no negative symptoms. We were switching to a med in another class, so doubling up serotonin wasn't a concern. Nevertheless, he said he would NOT prescribe until the previously specified date 2 weeks on. I wrote very politely and said that that would be fine. It would be ok for her to wait, then I could see if she had out-grown the issues. Only he did NOT call it in. My dog spent a miserable Christmas month full of separation anxiety, reactiveness to other dogs and visitors, and fear during New Year fireworks. Two months after my visit on October 30, I returned to Chambers Creek, a clinic that I had used years ago for previous dogs, which incidentally charged 50% less for a visit. Not until this clinic had requested my current dog's records did Met Vet call-in the new medication to Costco. This was a horrible and avoidable experience for my dog. Over and over this new vet displayed his own lack of knowledge and experience and his lack of respect for me, my knowledge and experience, and my ability to care for my pet. Worst of all, he did not follow through on his promise to prescribe in a timely manner. As a result my dog was left unmedicated during the most stressful month of the year. This inexperienced doctor needs to be overseen carefully by senior doctors. Clearly, this oversight is missing. I am concerned for dogs who go to him for ordinary medical concerns, such as separation anxiety.

We booked for her annual wellness and vaccines and the team told my husband if we were any later than 5 minutes late we would need to reschedule entirely, the willingness to turn my pet away was concerning considering we come from Puyallup to use this clinic and have to take a day from work because they are only open during the week. My husband made it right on time, it took 10 minutes to get back into a room, and him and my cat were on their way by 10:30 WITH shots, I was told my cat was seen for less than 5 minutes, and its extremely disappointing to think we were charged as highly as we were for what my husband described as a 2 minute once over. We didn't get an answer or investigation on why her leg was tender. I requested an invoice and was shocked to find how much it cost compared to what I was told took place. It's a massive bummer to have to make this but the response I received from the team suggests notes were made on her profile that did not reflect the reality of her visit, and I feel we are being swindled out of quality care for my animal. only received a response after leaving a review and there is a massive lack of accountability from the leadership here, defensiveness to valid concerns and more care put into being ensuring my animals medical records reflected my complaints then her actual care. Take your pets anywhere else if you value your time and their care.
