Eden Imanov is the rudest real estate agent we have ever dealt with in our entire life. She emailed us today to confirm our appointment for 1.30pm today and we promptly emailed back with a yes. We travelled all the way from Brooklyn to Rego Park but she stood us up. We waited outside the apartment building for 20 minutes after desperately calling and texting her but she simply didn't respond. Don't even bother dealing with her. She is a waste of our time. Recently I submitted a request to view a unit in 1721 E 8th St, Omar Abra was my point of contact. At first everything seemed fine, we confirmed on a date and time. When When I got there he explained there were 3 units available, which we all could view that day. I was among 3 groups of 2 excluding my friend and I, there was one other lady by herself. After viewing all 3 units I expressed my interest in applying for one of the units listed for 2,575. Omar explained the process to me and a group of 2 at the same time. He mentioned the 500 refundable good faith deposit. Also, he stated to send him an email confirming interest and a application would be sent. Lies, I contacted Omar via text, which he responded to promptly prior and email. I expressed my interest, asked exactly how could I go about paying the 500 refundable fee, that same day. He never replied, not one single follow up. As I sit back and think my friend and I were the only 2 black people that were there to view the units, which at first didn't strike me. I think this is a case of racial discrimination. I truly believe Omar thought I was Muslim, Middle Eastern decent, due to the spelling of my name, which is Rashida. However, when I arrived obviously I didn't fit the image he had in mind. I guess the building was not suited for people my skin color. Before writing this review I waited sometime to see if I would get a follow up. Also, I read countless reviews about this real estate company on google and yelp to know my account of what happened is not farfetched. The actual owner of the place was flabbergasted when I explained him I was supposed to meet a broker - he had never heard of Omar and had never listed his place. Run From this company!!! They deal with shady landlords who try to illegally rent out and charged illegal rent for rent stabilized apartments. I placed a deposit down with Rocio, a realtor, got a 2bd in Midwood Brooklyn. The landlord was charging $1600 for a $700 apartment, but the city wouldn't allow the increase, so they pulled the apartment from the market. After THEY declined my application due to the city pulling the plug on the landlord's illegal rent hike, Rocio took almost a month to return my security deposit and then she kept $20 of my money. Completely unprofesssional. I could tell the landlord was scamming and Rocio got extremely defensive when I mentioned the shady dealings, as if she were in on it. Save yourself and your money! This company is horrible and will keep your deposit!!! RUN AWAY!!! I give ZERO stars, but Yelp wouldn't allow zero stars. read more

The realtor I worked with showed me the apartment and asked me for a $500 deposit before I could even see the actual application or any paperwork. He also stated that the $500 would not hold the apartment off the market while my application was being considered, and that he was going to keep showing people while they held my $500 deposit. It doesn't make sense to hand over $500 and not even allow me to see the terms/details of the paperwork/application. I decided not to move forward with it, despite the realtor reaching out to me a second time asking for the $500 deposit. read more

After giving minimal information on a listing, I reached out to Nathaniel to get more info (specifically asking about utilities). He immediately wanted my credit score and income information. I really had no issue sharing, but he refused to disclose anything to me about the apartment until he had all the information we would submit as part of an application. I didn't even know if I was interested the space as I hadn't viewed it in person or virtually. When I asked him if he was able to tell me if utilities were included without me giving him all my information, he stopped responding to me. One of the weirdest interactions I've had with a listing agent. However, from reading other reviews, being problematic seems to be his MO. read more

I agree with the other ratings and am leaving this review after a bad experience with Zarko. Hopefully this helps warn others in the future. Unfortunately NYC is full of shady landlords and brokers. Zarko leased me an apartment, however when I tried to move in that's when it all went down hill. Thankfully I never moved my belongings in, and went over to initially clean the entire apartment first before moving my belongings in. THANKFULLY! While cleaning, I found a dead cockroach in the (very clean- almost brand new looking, which it clearly was not brand new based on the outside of it) refrigerator. I started exploring further, and found the seal of the fridge and freezer FULL of cockroach poop. Then the cabinet next to the fridge..full of cockroach poop. I tried to spray the cabinet and cockroaches started dropping from above, the sides, the bottoms of the cabinet, the drawer above and the baseboard. I spoke with management and they acknowledged the issue and agreed to refund my first month's rent and security deposit - which they did in a very timely manner. However, Zarko refuses to return my broker fee, and has been extremely unprofessional about this situation. And fun fact- less than 24 hours after I handed the keys back, Zarko had the apartment relisted again. read more

I barely avoided being sued by the landlords of that building and had to move TWICE in one moth. Stay away from Meir Bar-Yonas who is 23 and has no idea what he is doing, and his shady boss Tigran Aroutounian, who will tell you anything to sign the paperwork and hand over the money. Complete and utter INCOMPETENCE and MISREPRESENTATION! Stay away from these creeps if you want to avoid losing your money, possible eviction or a lawsuit from the landlord. *** UPDATE FOR MARIA: your agents convinced me that it's ok to move into a building with a NO PETS policy if I get my dogs certified as Emotional Support Animals. Yeah, now I know for a fact that I didn't meet the building's requirements, and it was your agents job not to show me or rent me an apartment that I couldn't move into. Time after time they told me that I will be fine, I should sign the lease ASAP, and nothing bad will happen after I move in. Well I was sued by the building and had to move again in less than a month. I had to find another 3 months of rent to get a new apartment in a week, plus moving fees again. Maria, please feel free to call me if you need any more facts, because it seems like you are unaware of what really happened. I'm sure you can get my number from Meir or Tigran. These people threatened me to have my security deposit taken if I didn't let them show my apartment last minute without me being there. I suggested another time that would work or I agreed on the condition that I have to lock up my two bedrooms since I wouldn't be there and have valuables (as per the management companies request since they are not liable). This wasnt good enough and claimed since my apartment is 'dirty' (? We haven't even moved yet and are still in the process of cleaning) and we wouldn't give access (again I gave other options but wasn't good enough apparently) that our security deposit would be in jeopardy. I called them and it turned into an argument which ended in them saying I don't give a fuck about your security deposit and hanging up on me. I would give it a 0 star if I could! They often list their apartments in Craigslist so watch out! Although all brokers in NYC are dishonest and this field somehow brings out the most ugly in humanity, this company definitely takes the cake. They basically told me an apartment was going to be $2000/ month which is the highest I could afford when they knew that it really was going to be $2050. They had me pay "good faith deposit" of $375 in cash and came back and told me that the apartment cannot go for $2000 but you will loose your $375. Please be warned that everyone in this office is dishonest. The guy agent that I first worked with tried to hit on me and told me all kinds of crazy figures for the price of the apartment, first they needed a broker fee they they were going to give me a discount so broker fee is gone but the apartment wants to charge extra..anyway the story changed each minute and you knew they were just trying to find different ways to get more money out of you if you are willing to believe. he was the most disgusting specimen of humankind there was, yellow teeth, conniving, underhanded, and very manipulative. The the girl Susanna was not much better, she is the one that told me that they can get the cost down to 2000/month. When I complained to their boss Itay, he never got back to me. After 2 weeks of apartment hunting I was able to find something decent that fit in my budget. As with all real estate companies in New York, I felt like my agent tried to getaway me to go farther up in price than I wanted. But I put my foot down and was able to find a nice place. THE MOST UNPROFESSIONAL REALTY AGENCY IN NYC. Terrible experience from beginning to end, if possible, I would give negative stars. Our "agent", mislead us about every aspect of the apartment (price, application process, good-faith deposit, building, what was to be fixed, the list goes on). Every detail offered about the apartment was incorrect. Moreover; - The application fee asked for was higher than the true application fee and supposedly it had to be in cash (most probably to pocket the difference). - GZB asked for a $1000 good-faith deposit, which turned out to NOT be part of the application process. Thankfully, this was refunded after much stress. My advice would be to avoid GZB realty at all costs, find the apartment you like on their website and go through another broker or directly to the management company owning the building. UPDATE! To continue from where I left off, I had a situation with my unit where the apartment was not clean and complately finished - work, paint, mess everywhere. It wasn't initially a big deal, but got to a point where I lost an entire week having a unit for a time period I had already bargained for in good faith with the management company. This is where Casey Sandler and his colleague Elizabeth Munoz come in to save the day. Casey and Elizabeth were immediately responsive to my complaints and agreed that this situation was unacceptable. My demand was to receive some form of pro-rated reduction off my first month's rent due to the fact that this apartment was unsuitable to move in for a week after the original date. Understandably, my demands were met with push back from the management company and landlord. I even offered to get directly involved but Casey preferred that he take the heat for me. So, Casey delicately negotiated his way through an aggressive management company, landlord, and high maintenance client in myself as you'll see in my prior review, to reach an amicable, satisfying settlement for all parties. I know people are determined to find no fee apartments in the city. I most definitely was. But oftentimes, certain units can only be shown by brokers as was the case in mind. Once I opened up to the possibility of paying a fee and came across Casey's team at GZ Brokers, the process went from stressful, rushed and distrustful to relaxed, simple and honest. I got every penny's worth from Casey, and that was even before he went to bat for me as an incredibly strong advocate in my dispute with the landlord. I was moving from China to NYC to attend grad school @ NYU. My roommate, another fellow classmate was also moving from Asia (Singapore). We were on the market in contact with a couple of other brokers, but after telling them that we were both based abroad and international, a lot of the broker companies' simply stopped responding. We finally decided to reach out to GZ Brokers, and were paired with Gorana Goranic. She was the absolute BEST. She skyped with us and worked hard to really understand our requirements and budget, and didn't show/mention anything outside of these criteria. I had asked a friend to see the apartments in lieu of us (as we were not in the country) and Gorana helpfully coordinated that even with changing the schedule around multiple times. She also videoed the ENTIRE viewing with us, providing helpful commentary and even neighborhood details. She also stayed up to crazy hours (2-3am sometimes) and weekends to accommodate our time difference. Once we got to NYC, Gorana allowed us to leave our luggage at her office so that we wouldn't have to lug around huge suitcases while lease signing. She also coordinated with the landlord ceaselessly, pushing for the terms that we wanted. Even after moving in, we were still in touch with her and she constantly checked in with us regarding our apartment. Literally the best brokerage experience out there, super helpful and amazing, and one of the nicest people. Highly recommend, especially to those new to the city. read more

Used them to tour a property. I was told based on my lack of credit history the landlord would require 2 months security deposit rather than the standard 1 month. Thinking this was fine, I applied and paid the $200 application fee. After paying the non-refundable fee, my broker Sandra contacted me hours after saying the security deposit was actually 5 months for me and my roommate. Regardless of whether this was intentional or not, the broker either misled me or didn't do any research and had me blindly apply. Overall, wasted my $200 for nothing. Other brokers were much more upfront about if the landlord would accept my credit and knew about it. Two stars because the broker Sandra was very responsive and the office manager was nice as well read more

WARNING! THIS COMPANY WILL GIVE YOU MISLEADING INFORMATION! As a young woman starting off her career and looking for reasonably priced rent, I was extremely excited when presented with a beautiful apartment that was affordable! However, little did I realize, that I had been given misleading information and incorrect facts. When selling the apartment to me, they told me the rent was a SPECIFIC number per month with months 13 and 14 free. When signing my lease, I noticed that the rent was significantly higher. I discussed with the building owners and management after signing my lease, and they told me that they frowned upon this style of rent representation. That was one of the MANY deceptive statements. I am very happy with where I live and this has not become about the money anymore. The problem is that this company refuses to acknowledge their faults and take responsibility for their actions. They ignored my emails and only would speak to my father, which is extremely unprofessional. I am extremely disappointed! Would never recommend. read more

They lied to me on multiple occasions in order to get my money initially and then gave me a refund check of $1000 that was returned by Chase bank for insufficient funds. Instead of giving me a new check and apologizing, they blamed me and Chase and refused to write me a new check or pay for the returned check fee. Dishonest and unfair. Finding an apt in nyc is about as stressful as going through a divorce. My initial dealing with my broker at GZB was great and then things went not so great, when my broker rushed and pushed me into handing over app fees and a 700 dollar deposit on an apt I was 100% comfortable wit and ended up signing papers I didn't read and without any explanation of their policies. When I called my broker back the next day, I told her I couldn't go through with it as I'm just not comfortable with it. ...Thats when I was told that I would lose my 700 dollar deposit. After several emails between my broker and myself, I feel both parties were at fault in handling different issues, the owner Itay got involved in the end, thank goodness...I met with him and we discussed everything that happened...he returned my good faith deposit in full. In the end, they proved themselves to be professional and fair and would recommend Itay and GZB brokers to friends for their apt search in NYC. I ended up moving in with a friend as my last resort and now love it, but would not hesitate to use GZB if and when I'm in need of an apt again. read more

Abigail was an absolute pleasure to work with. Not only did she go above and beyond to find me the apartment that I wanted, she was a friend and checked in on how I was feeling throughout the process knowing I was stressed about moving across the country in a pandemic. Knowing I couldn't be there personally to look at apartments, Abigail did the best job at showing me everything via FaceTime, to the apartment itself and the amenities to literally doing it all over again when I still felt unsure. She was never pushy - not once. Rather, she explained the NYC market to me and explained how fast things would be moving but never pushed me into choosing an apartment until I was ready and happy with my decision. A couple of times, Abigail dropped what she was doing to get me last minute viewings with highly sought after buildings. I worked with at least two other realtors, one that's very popular too, before finding Abigail and am so glad I did find her. She was attentive to detail, respectful of my budget and timeline and so incredibly flexible. I cannot recommend her enough. My fiancé and I had an awesome experience with GZ Brokers. We had met with lots of different brokers prior to connecting with Ethan G. Once I met Ethan G we spent the afternoon looking at so many places. He showed me 6 in one day! Which was more then I had seen meeting with 3 people 4 different times! Ethan G worked so hard to show me many different places to make sure that I found the perfect apartment. I had very high standards and really wanted to a washer dryer in unit on a small budget. Even though I was technically looking too early, he was able to find and close the deal to get me the place I wanted at the budget I wanted. I really enjoyed spending time with him and exploring all the different places. I am SOOO in love with my new place!!!! Literally on cloud 9. It was in my price range and better then what I imagined. He did a lot of work to make sure I moved quickly, got approved and got an excellent deal! With a wedding and so many expenses coming, this was such a smooth and easy process.
