Complementary nann and herbs with feta cheese
    Suelynn N.

I finally have been able to come to Avestas second location!!! I love their food!!! My husband, cousin in law, and I came here for dinner. We received complementary nann and herbs, I always look forward for this to start our meal. We ordered some kabobs and chicken curry (not pictured). For kabobs, we had shrimp, salmon, lamb, and chicken. The seafood was tender and cooked perfectly. The chicken was juicy and moist. The lamb could use some work but lamb can be hard to cook with. The seafood kabobs came with dill rice. I also like the veggies kabobs. And I upgraded the other rice to cherry polo. The chicken curry reminds me of butter chicken. I would skip this and just go for the kabobs. The garlic sauce was interesting and would be an amazing spread for any carbs. The hummus was as expected. There was another curry that looked interesting that was made with pomegranates but we will order that next time. All of the stuff we ordered was more than enough for three adults. Service was great at the beginning but towards the end , they all somehow disappeared ? We stayed a lot longer than expected because we couldn't wave someone down to ask for to go boxes until one of us went to the front counter. The furniture was clean and stable but it is a small room compared to their other location. And very bright. Parking is free and out front. Note, if you want more feta cheese or butter for your kabob dish, you can ask for it. The staff told me they don't automatically because this community doesn't know the food culturally and they could go to waste.

Ok. Hidden gem! Complementary bread & veggie/herbs (There's nothing to put on the bread so we ordered hummus) All I can say is get it!! The hummus is fabulous. Regular hummus with wonderful notes of garlic (just the right amount to me!) I filled up on hummus & bread and didn't even care!! Let me re-iterate. This is one of the best hummus I've ever tasted!! Please get it!! The bread also came with commentary herbs/veggies (parsley, basil, feta & cucumber). I'll admit I was not quite sure what to do with the herbs but I put the fresh basil & parsley on my hummus bread and it was definitely an enhancer. I'm not a big tea drinker but the Peruvian tea is poured from a pot into your glass & is very pleasant with free refills. Also a cool-looking water carafe is placed on the table. I would actually call this place quiet although they play smooth music in the background at a decent volume level. Service was great. We had multiple servers check on us multiple, multiple times to ensure we were pleased. The place is bright & cheery with pretty round chandelier light fixtures. The food was really tasty! Had the shrimp curry with cherry rice. Almost asked for the rice without cherries but glad I didn't. Also tasted the lamb kabob. The meat was very tender & flavorful. All in all it was an overall really nice experience. I came for lunch but I would definitely come back for dinner.

After a brief Yelp search for a weekday lunch, I decided on Avesta in Katy. The restaurant was brightly lit and very nicely decorated with art on the walls. Parking wasn't an issue at lunch but perhaps a challenge with a busy dinner crowd. The staff were great and patient with first timers that thought everything on the menu looked terrific. I decided on the Lamb Shish Kabob Combo with lamb and chicken (4.5). I absolutely loved the Persian Hummus (5) appetizer with some of the best bread I've ever had. Stopping at Avesta for a meal was a great decision and plan to repeat.

Great, random find while visiting Houston! Avesta is located conveniently near the Katy Asian town. Parking can be a little difficult at peak hours in this area, but once parked you can actually eat and walk around without having to re-park. The food here was amazing! Once seated, they offer you a plate of fresh vegetables with feta and fresh baked naan. I ordered hummus to eat with and it was delicious! For entree, I ordered the seafood combination plate with salmon and shrimp. It did take a little while for all our orders to come out, but we'll worth it. Portions were huge! The roasted veggies were a perfect combo along with perfectly cooked and seasoned shrimp and salmon. I recommend this plate! Ambience is clean and casual! I would recommend this restaurant!

Food was fresh and excellent! We ordered the hummus, lamb kabobs, & chicken kabobs with cherry rice. The service size was huge and so tasty. Our servers were friendly and quick. There were a lot of large parties, so it was quite loud inside. Also, I wouldn't sit on the couch side next time because it was too far from the table. We ordered dessert to go - can't wait to try it at home!

+Customer service was excellent. -The kebob was overcooked a bit, but the overall meal was great. -The meat portion was a bit small. -No loyalty rewards program. What we ordered: Lamb Shish Kebob with Dill Rice $18.49 + $3.99 Persian Hummus $4.49 Green Zhoug (Spicy Cilantro Sauce) $5.00 Tabbouleh Salad $8.00 Total: $43.27 post-tax plus tip

I am so glad Avesta is open in Katy. All the entrees are amazing. The grilled skewers and tenderloins are tasty , moist and tender. The rice was cooked perfectly. By far , this is one of the best Persian food I have had in Houston/Katy area. Subjectively better than Rumi's, Kasra. I am glad that they're in Katy and definitely will come back. Service was great too :)

This place has great Mediterranean / Persian food. Some of the best hummus and yogurt dip I have ever had. The staff and service today was absolutely amazing.

I didn't ask for my meat to be freaking rare overpriced when they can't even cook it normally. Spots of the meat were rare. NEVER AGAIN

Ray fin jerky is a maybe if you like sweet jerky or not, this dish was a hit or miss at the table. Our waitresses were amazing and very sweet. One seems to be fairly new but I think she will do well with more experiences as she gets the hang of handling large parties. Our table was stable, but because of the angle from the windows, the light kind of blinded one of our friends in the face. I would recommend stronger blinds for the front. I really liked the decorations. They were all sea shaped based, like a few of the lights were "waves". I thought they were cute. Amazing place, I'm excited to come back again to try their other dishes like barracuda and aji fry! Also, free parking out front!

I didn't recall anything bad about the place, and given the rave reviews since then, I thought it was time to return. Based on reviews, we showed up early on a Friday evening (~5 pm). Even at that time, it was mostly full, but we were able to snag seats at the bar, which is first come first serve. We ordered the "regular" grilled oysters (5/5), which were anything but regular, as they were topped with peanuts and a really great flavor. I'd get these again. Fair warning, these take 20 minutes to come out, which I didn't mind, but I did not realize that they would not bring us anything else until after the oysters since these are considered an app. I thought they'd just bring things out as they were ready. This meant, we did not get our crawfish until we were already sitting there for an hour. About halfway into the wait for the crawfish (after the oysters), the fried rice (1/5) showed up, and I have to say, it was underwhelming. It came out room temperature, which to me is cold, and I thought this was just how they do it. Except 15 minutes later, the seats next to us got their fried rice, and it came out piping hot. You could still see the steam coming off of it. Besides being cold, I didn't think the fried rice was that good in terms of flavor. I also generally prefer the short grain rice, and this was more of a long grain. Once the crawfish showed up, we were well past an hour, so we dove right into it. Both the garlic butter and combo mix were great flavor - some of the best I've had in Houston. However.... it made me remember why we did not return. About 20% of the crawfish were TINY. And by tiny, I mean they were smaller than my pinky finger. Maybe I'm a crawfish snob, but at this time of the season, there should not be that many tiny crawfish. Maybe a few small ones, but not tiny. Crawfish flavor = 5+/5, crawfish quality = 2/5, crawfish cook = 3/5. Then I made the mistake of ordering a cluster of snow crab. That took another 30+ min to come out, and it was again room temperature. The service at the bar was fine (4/5), but the kitchen service (1/5) is not something I want to experience again, especially not for the crawfish quality/size. Yes, the flavor was amazing, but I'm not fighting for a table for lukewarm food and 30 min wait time for each dish. The pricing was some of the lowest I've seen ($8.99/lb crawfish), but I'd rather pay $1 more at other places for the quality.

We visited Babin's Seafood House in Katy today as an alternative since Landry's Seafood House in Katy has closed, and unfortunately, this turned out to be one of the most disappointing experiences we've had. We arrived around 3 PM on a Friday expecting to take advantage of the lunch menu and happy hour, which is normally offered at that time. However, we were told by the hostess that neither was available. What was frustrating was not just the policy itself, but the lack of clear explanation -- it was only vaguely mentioned that it was due to a holiday, with no real effort to clarify or accommodate. Service throughout the meal was very poor. Our waters were never refilled, and our server was largely inattentive. It felt like we were being overlooked rather than taken care of. The biggest issue came with the food. We specifically ordered seafood dishes due to the Lent season-- specifically it being Good Friday, only to find sausage included in the seafood jambalaya. When we brought this up, the response from the server --" i'm absolutely sure there's no sausage in your dish" and made it seem like we were the problem, rather than addressing the mistake. Nonetheless, the was sausage in the dish and a manager did come by and offered to replace the dish, but even that felt reluctant -- more like an inconvenience than an attempt to make things right. To make matters worse, what was supposed to be a casual lunch turned into an $96 bill for a family of four, without the quality of service or experience to justify it. This was especially disappointing because we've been coming here as a family for years and have generally had good experiences. As a Landry's Select Club member for over 10 years, this was easily one of the worst experiences we've had at any Landry's restaurant. Unfortunately, based on this visit, we do not see ourselves returning to this location anytime soon.

The music is a mix of EDM, Hip-hop, Rap, and R&B. They have tables and bar top seating. If you have a bigger group, I'm sure you can find a table depending on the time you arrive. There is a lot of seating. To start off, I ordered the Matcha Martini. It was STRONG omg, definitely a sipper, but it was so good. It was creamy and had a good matcha flavor. I love how they added matcha powder on top. For drinks, I also tried their espresso martini and Bubbly Pineapple. The espressos here are good, no complaints. The Bubbly Pineapple is so cute; it comes out with a bubble of smoke you can pop. The drink is very refreshing; it really tastes like pineapple. FYI, the drink has little black seeds, so if you don't like textures in your drink, maybe this one isn't for you. Also the drink came with a little frozen pineapple you can add to your drink once you pop the bubble As an appetizer, I got a dozen raw oysters and decided to add the $5 tobiko (fish eggs). Let me say, they were not stingy with the Tobiko, there was so much on my Oysters, I mean a lot! The oysters were good, and so was the tobiko, but I feel that with so much tobiko, it kind of took away from the oysters. Still good though, especially for $21 for the dozen with the tobiko! It was very filling I'm not gonna lie, I got pretty full with the oysters, but I still had to eat my entree As an entree, I ordered the Short Ribs, which came with rice and a side salad. I didn't think I was going to eat much of my entree since the oysters had filled me up, but I ate the short ribs down to the bone! Every single one of those ribs I devoured, no meat was left on my plate. I didn't have space to eat, but my stomach made space for this. 10/10 would recommend the short ribs, especially with the delicious sauce it came with. I think it's like a fish sauce 10/10 for food and drinks. Bonus: the staff here is really friendly. I really enjoyed my time here. I need to come more often for sure, this is definitely a Katy gem
