ordered takeout for the first time and it was great! borani badejan was flavorful and a little spicy. the tandoori chicken, challow kabob, and doogh were great. i wasn't a fan of how the kabob had chunks of onion (instead of minced) or how the doogh had small pieces of cucumber in it, but overall everything was delicious. total was $35 (two entrees, one appetizer, one drink)

Delicious! We especially loved the qabli palao with chicken breast. Very homemade tasting. We would give it more than 5 stars if we could.

I'd give it 3.5 stars. The food is OK not the best! Their appetizers are good. Still nice to have that option in katy.

My order was for the butter chicken for $15 and I added some garlic naan for another $3.50 along with some lemonade ($3). Both food items were delivered together about 10 minutes after ordering. The food was delicious. The butter chicken was made with tandoori chicken bathed in a slightly spicy and creamy butter and tomato sauce. The naan came with very 2 large slices and tasted as advertised. Garlic and butter always go together and this bread was well worth it. This meal tasted very good and satisfied my hunger. Table service was good here. I would order this meal again and be happy to return.

I would recommend Angara if you're looking for karahi in Hillcroft. Plus they cater!

This is a hidden little gem in the back of a long strip mall and definitely a place you should add to your try list. It's not fancy to look at, but I always feel comfortable coming in here, and they can easily accommodate large parties. As usual, they brought a refreshing lettuce salad. Once I finished that off I ordered the Mantu appetizer. Mantu is stuffed with a wonderful ground beef filling, a little pocket of deliciousness, a tiny spicy heat to it, and a moist sauce that rounds out the flavor, and is finished with a generous sprinkle of sumac. It's a delicious light dumpling!! My favorite dish that I keep ordering over and over is the Showra. This is a super flavorful broth in which a lamb shank sits along with a potato. It sounds so simple, and it is, but I think it's absolutely wonderful. I've never seen a naan prepared the way they do their version. Pull off pieces and dip that into the broth so that it gets all soggy and delicious :-). They serve it with a small side of onion and lemon, and I squeeze the lemon juice into it and dump the onion into the hot broth. I like to finish the meal with the light Firni milk pudding sprinkled with chopped pistachios. While eating here, you could run next-door to the market if you need some Halal meat. I think the above is my favorite meal here.

I came during lunchtime and it was completely empty but I still opted to dine in anyway, so I could get the real experience. The first booth I wanted to sit in was dirty, so I went to a different one which I eventually realized still had crumbs on it as well. I ended up placing my order and just telling her to make it to go bc I just wasn't feeling it. I ordered the lamb chops which on the menu had the full bone on it so you could easily pick it up and eat, but when I got my order, it didn't have the bone which I thought was a bit odd. In general, I feel like the rice and the lamb chops could've used more flavor. The little spicy sauce they provided helped though.

I got the two most popular dishes, including the karahi (beef per our waiter's recommendation) and the chapli kebab with bukhari pulao. The karahi portion was better than other restaurants! I wanted more curry sauce and the beef could have been more tender, but still delicious. The sauce also had some heat to it! The garlic naan was big and tasted fresh, one of my favorite naans I've had. The chapli dish was the standout. The beef was so flavorful and I normally don't enjoy ground beef!! Highly highly recommend. Complimentary hummus which went great with the naan however nothing to write home about. Complimentary hot green tea. Drinks are self serve. Dishes are served on paper plates and there are styrofoam plates to eat individually. I do wish they used glass dishware. Service was amazing. The staff were very friendly and checked up on us throughout the entire meal. I even heard them customizing a patron's order who wanted to try a little bit of lamp chop in addition to his lamb kofta which I found very generous. Restroom was very clean! Overall, delicious, fairly priced Afghan food. Highly recommend.

That would be bad enough, but the tandoori chicken was so dry it was uneatable and went into the garbage. Hmmm, what to have for dinner now?
