4.5 Stars Came here after work on a Thursday evening. The restaurant was decently busy (about half the tables were filled) but I still felt taken care of. I was in line to order to-go but the lady in front of me had the hardest time paying for her order. After several unsuccessful attempts, another lady came by to take my order so that she could put my order to the kitchen first while I waited to pay. I found that to be extremely considerate of the worker to think to do that. Food came out in about 15 minutes. I was so hungry I ended up deciding to eat in my car. A little disappointed that they didn't include any utensils (nor did they ask if needed any), but thankfully I had some extras in my car. I ordered a chicken kebab and they were nice enough to sub my rice for a salad without extra charge. Also ordered the borani bademjan because I'm a fan of all things eggplant. Everything was delicious. The chicken kebab was juicy, moist, and nicely seasoned. However, my favorite item was hands down the borani bademjan. It had large pieces of smoky grilled eggplants and I love the spiced tomato flavors. Yum! Highly recommend for all eggplant fanatics. The borani came with a piece of nan that was good as well. First off let me say the food is 10/10 amazing. The service is bad and I'm scared to write it as people may shy away from trying this restaurant out but hopefully management will make some changes. I had the challow kabab with naan and my friend had the chapli kabab with rice. Both dishes were SO tasty and I'd recommend both. The naan is not buttery or oily so it was perfect with the most delicious and perfectly marinated meats. The chutney/vinegar sauce is always so refreshing and pairs so well with everything. I want this place to succeed because the food is just SO delicious however, it saddens me that the waiter was so terrible. He was dressed in torn up jeans and was on his phone as if it was glued to his face. I had no idea he was the waiter until I saw him go in the kitchen and I had to flag him down like hi can we order?! When he came to take our order he was the most meh person ever. He just stared out at the window as he stood there waiting for us to place our order. He didn't offer water or drinks until I called him back to ask like...can I at least have some water please? Then he yells from the counter, do you want room temperature or cold? Ugh I love this restaurants food but it saddens me to think that this waiter is going to be the downfall of this place. At one point he was loudly watching tik tok videos (to the point where I couldn't hear my friend talking to me from across the table). The other tables were also visibly annoyed with his lackluster energy and effort and one family was willing to leave because of his meh attitude. Saffron--please let go of this waiter. You're just too good of a restaurant and I hope you continue to succeed!! I just think with this waiter around, you could lose business like you did today. read more

ordered takeout for the first time and it was great! borani badejan was flavorful and a little spicy. the tandoori chicken, challow kabob, and doogh were great. i wasn't a fan of how the kabob had chunks of onion (instead of minced) or how the doogh had small pieces of cucumber in it, but overall everything was delicious. total was $35 (two entrees, one appetizer, one drink) read more

We had two appetizers, Mantoo (dumplings in a sauce) and Bolani (Potato pancakes familiar but different ! Both great. For Entrees , One beef Kabob with Saffron rice. One Lamb rack with naan (authentic not garlic) , One Korma Challow Lamb shank ( V Hot curry) ! One Lamb shank Green Curry (spicy but different)! We shared ! It's completely different to Mediterranean/ Lebanese or south asian Indian curries. We tried the Yogurt drinks (a tzatziki ish kind of drink) , and their fresh fruit Mango drink, maybe fresh, it sure tasted so. Food and service is AMAZING!!! I just moved to Katy from the Bay Area. Was really craving authentic Afghan food, and first place that popped up was Saffron Kabob House. I first ordered from DoorDash. And the food was amazing! Second time I was close by and just went to the restaurant. The mantu and bolani are amazing!!! Really authentic food and tastes so good! Delicious! We especially loved the qabli palao with chicken breast. Very homemade tasting. We would give it more than 5 stars if we could.

Their food has always been consistent w the quality and taste. And the service is top notch. I would recommend.

This used to be a good place to go to for Afghani food. Their quality is not up to par, the last time, a few days ago. Believe the inflation has affected their portions and quality as a whole. I'd rather them charge more but give the people the quality that we know you can provide. Will give them one more shot bc they deserve it as a new business in the area. read more

If you are not of Middle Eastern/Asian background, white or hispanic they will not acknowledge you or take forever to do so when they finally do so. I entered the restaurant, stood at the counter for about 15 mins before being acknowledged. I did not say anything until I was because God forbid I end up that "angry Black person" so I just wait. After 15 mins I was finally approached! Now, I do delivery service for other customers, and had to explain to the customer why I was taking so long. Not only is this affecting the service for the customer receiving the food but it affects my tip, and as much as I don't want it to, it affects my day to feel I was ignored for 15 MINUTES simply because of what I look like! So if you look like me (African American/African/Afro Carribean, Afro Latina etc) I would not recommend this place for a lunch, dinner whatever because you will be ignored and you will not get served.
