Not my favorite restaurant and have only been here once, but people seem to like this place. Good friendly service.

We had a great team dinner, with excellent staff and a nice relaxing interior. We started with the Greek Kasseri cheese served flaming, which was awesome! Went here a while ago. What you would expect as far as Classic Greek food. Chicken kebab, chicken gyros, Saganaki. A definite step up from the coney spots, reflected in the cost as such. My husband doesn't mind their chicken gyros, their Greek salad isn't bad. read more

My husband and I decided to go for a late lunch or early dinner. I'm going to call Linner! Or Dunch. I wanted a Greek salad and when I tell you it was The Best one I've ever had I'm not exaggerating! I ordered the lunch size portion $12 Village salad ( no lettuce) and had them add gyro meat $8. Very generous portion of meat. I had the original Greek dressing instead of the oil ,lemon dressing the salad is normally served with. All of the dressings are now sold in bottles to go as well. So we can have it at home if we can't get into to Big Tommy's. The ingredients were so fresh. Grape tomatoes, feta cheese(generous portion) red and white onions, Kalamata olives and red bell peppers. My husband had the chicken special that was delicious. It was stuffed with spinach and feta cheese. The creamy sauce they served over the chicken took the dish to another level. This was served with their famous green beans If you know you know and rice. All for 18 dollars. Very fair price. We both are members of the clean plate club! Our waitress was so kind and attentive. Big Tommy's is always a treat and money well spent. Terrific value. We've dined here numerous times and plan on coming back more often because the quality is spot on. My family and I visited this Greek restaurant after a full day of flying, and the food itself was fantastic -- fresh, flavorful, and exactly what we needed. But the end of the meal was a mess. We were only told after dinner that the restaurant doesn't split checks or allow individual payments. With several different family groups at our table, this created a level of chaos that easily could've been avoided with upfront communication. We ended up sitting there for over 20 minutes trying to figure out how only three people could somehow cover a bill of more than $400. One family member had to leave to go to the bank, and another had to put a large portion of the table's bill on their credit card just so we could get out of there. The food was great, but the checkout situation was extremely stressful. Simply stating the "no split checks" policy before seating guests would save a lot of frustration for large parties like ours. read more

We came for my mother in laws birthday last night, she was craving lamb shank and this place had some wonderful reviews. I made a reservation online through their website and was pleasantly surprised to see that our table was actually ready for us when we arrived. I'm so used to call ahead where you still have to wait when you get there. The lamb shank was divine and exactly what the birthday girl wanted. My daughter and I shared the chicken Alfredo, which was delicious, my husband ordered the chicken kabob, and my father in law had chicken lemon rice soup. The atmosphere is cozy, and while it is casual it is somewhat dressy (think nice pants and shirt). All in all it was a great meal. read more

Ok, So once and A while we screw up and miss a Great Restaurant . So it is with BIG TOMMY'S PARTHENON on GrandRiver in Novi. We almost missed it and had to turn around. Best illegal turn I made this week. For lunch I tried the Lamb that was stewed in a delicious greek flavored tomato sauce. I chose the sides of rice pilaf and green beans. The wife tried Chicken Gyro grilled wrapped in a fresh pita . It includes onion , tomatoe if so choose and TZATZIKI SAUCE on the side. Excellent service by Reneé who I might add took the time to answer all of our questions about their other mouth watering dishes. A Greek town right in Novi! Who knew? They are as good as Pegasus, better than Hellas and simply outstanding Nice refreshing decor outside. My friend introduced me to BTP as her favorite place to eat and now it's one of mine too! We went back last night for her birthday and once again the food was delicious, our service amazing thanks to Brittaney and her great personality and attentiveness was perfect timing. It was challenging to choose what I wanted to eat because so many things sound really good when you're hungry. This time I had the lamb gyro with a side of San Marino rice, which is premium so a little more expensive, but So worth it. The limoncello cake to finish was also amazing. I highly recommend this place for any occasion and will definitely be coming back! read more

Another of our go to restaurants for several years. Service is always top notch, the food is spot on. My favorite dish is the Parthenon pasta, with chicken sausage and Greek sausage in fettuccine with Alfredo sauce. But we've tried so many items, all good. The usual Greek fare, and a variety of vegetables and potatoes baked in a red tomato sauce. Awesome! We love this place and have hosted guests for dinners here several times. Also, Sunday Brunch or on holidays. Too much food for me, but what a variety! We love it here! read more

Update January 2022: since our initial visit a few months ago we have been here a few more times. Every time we come generally order a salad as I love Greek salads. However I made a salad that day so I needed to branch out from my usual order. As we were coming and I noticed that they had fish special that day - it was barramundi with green beans and rice. The fish was cooked exquisitely. It was moist and flaky yet had a good crisp on it, not overly battered. The rice would've been good but for me, I thought it was a little too moist like there was a lot of butter in it. The green beans were good albeit probably canned and not fresh but the tomatoes on top made it feel a little more special. I would definitely order this again! read more

I cannot count the number of times I've driven on Grand River but I don't ever recall seeing Big Tommy's - so I drove tentatively to it, guided by Google Maps, concerned that I would miss it. I had placed the order by phone, online ordering was not available, and was soon on my way. I am very familiar with Greek cuisine, having grown up surrounded by fantastic restaurants throughout the city so I knew that I wanted, namely, a taste of everything. I ended up with a Greek Trio platter with spanokopita, moussaka, and pastitsio. It was such a good choice, rivaled only by the combo platter: lamb chops, moussaka, spanokopita, and grape leaves. I know, it was a difficult choice. The spinach and feta cheese were in a flaky phyllo dough pastry. The moussaka was wonderfully flavorful, as was the pastitsio. The portions were huge so I was able to enjoy the dinner over several nights (and even avoid having to cook those days - which is always a plus). When I got to the restaurant, there was a special entrance for take-out orders, which I really appreciated. Check-out was efficient. read more

First time here in years. We used to go for lunch. It was just ok. Hubby liked the jambalaya but the green beans were over cooked. Our friend said his fish was fishy tasting and a small piece. Fish and chips were ok but the tartar sauce was not great. The old fashioned's were too sweet. Our waitress was great. We might go back and try something different but no sure. read more

I placed an online to go order with Big Tommy's. Their online order process works well. That was the best part of my experience. I showed up at the restaurant and was stopped from entering the building by a somewhat rude employee telling me they were closed. I told her that I was picking up a to go order. She said that wasn't possible because they were closed for a private event. After another go around of that discussion, she headed inside the restaurant (to check my story) as I told her that I had a receipt to prove that I had placed an order. She came back out, finally acknowledged my order and told me again they were closed. I asked about a refund. She told me that she couldn't issue the refund immediately, but would do it the next day. Are you kidding me? I left with no food, low hopes of getting a refund and no offer to fix a customer situation that I didn't create. It's pretty bad when you have an online ordering system, take orders and then fail to deliver on those orders. It was a complete waste of my time to place an order, drive to the restaurant and walk away with nothing. I take that back. I walked away with less than nothing because I left with a bogus credit card charge. That caused me to waste additional time talking to my credit card company about my options. Thanks Big Tommy's for the experience! I imagine if Big Tommy's closes for a private event, they have the ability to turn off their online ordering system and mention it on their website. Their website alerts you to their upcoming holiday specials, but can't tell you they are closed during what would otherwise be normal business hours. I have to wonder how many people visited the restaurant for a sit down meal, only to find out the restaurant was closed. Even if the online ordering system was disabled, how many people showed up during normal business hours and unexpectedly got turned away? I doubt that's common in the restaurant industry. For the record, I was told the private event was a memorial dinner. I feel bad for the people attending the event and their loss. However that situation doesn't excuse the restaurant's mistake of failing to mention the closure on their website, accepting a to go order and then failing to deliver on the order, failing to give an immediate refund and failing to see if there was anything that could be done for a first time (and likely last time) customer. I've never eaten at Big Tommy's so I can't review their food. All I can do is review their service. read more

I thoroughly enjoyed this place. Nice ambiance, service was excellent. I had the lemon rice soup, lemony and creamy very delicious, and the Tommy salad with chicken it was delicious, it was basically a Greek salad chopped up and mixed with the dressing, very fresh and the dill was a nice touch, chicken was good but a bit dry. I got the half size and that was big. Pita bread was warm and soft, tasted great. My table also had gyro, chicken gyro, Mediterranean bowl, and French fries... all were liked and enjoyed. Everyone at the table said, this place was a good pick! I can't wait to go back and try the lamb. The service was very good, very knowledgeable of many dishes, she had many suggestions. She said one thing that I loved, "were family owned and the only frozen food we have is the French fries (which were delish) and chicken strips." I thought that was great! Served a glass of water with a lipstick stain on it , however he made it right got a clean glass then I'll say Horrible service based on the kitchen not the waiter although the server did his best based on what he was working with. Chicken filet was rubbery and gross , burger came out with nothing bland , lemon rice soup was ok at best , however they should be ashamed to serve their Greek salad it literally had all lettuce 1 small cucumber , 1 tiny tomato and 1 beat .... Came here for dinner & comedy show for a fundraiser for Farmington High School. Restaurant is a Greek restaurant in the upper part of the building. The comedy club is in the basement. We were with a party of 12. All seated at the same table. The waitress was very nice and accommodating. She did separate bills for couples. Very attentive and very quick with her services. The food was served in a timely manner even though we had such a large party. The menu is quite extensive and has many vegetarian options. I had a veggie trio which included spinach pie, moussaka and pasticio. All very very good. Some of the other items on the menu included of course, saganaki, which we shared at the table, and a grilled octopus appetizer. Which was also very good. The special for the day was a lobster and spinach ravioli which one of the guests had, also very good. After dinner we went to the basement for a comedy show. I know it seems a little weird, but the comedians were actually very good. The setup is round tables with a small stage at one end. They do shows throughout the year, with all different comedians. They serve alcoholic drinks and appetizers at the comedy show. It does require a $5 minimum drink or food tab. I would definitely recommend this restaurant and the comedy show for just a fun night out. If it wasn't so far from my home, I would definitely go back for the food. As a long time customer of the original old and new Parthenon, I was excited to try this place. I'm not greek, but grew up surrounded by greeks, worked at Hellas, and probably ate at the Old Parthenon 500+ times. Pros. Bread was amazing. Saganaki and beets & garlic were perfect. Gyros was superior. My wife said the spanikopita was the best she has ever eaten, and she has had it thousands of times. Moussaka was good. Tzatziki was superior. Service was outstanding. Our waitress was just incredibly good. Space Dust IPA on tap. It's not fancy, but has a good look for a greek place. It was jammed late on a saturday night. Cons: Potatoes were cooked well, but not roasted - so no soft middle, crispy edges. Peas were good, but not quite stewed to the ultimate level like the old places. I see that people have complained that their vegetables are overcooked here - that is entirely the intention with classic greek cooking. And my Pastitio expert did not like Tommy's. She said that the top was "rubbery" like it had been microwaved to heat it up. Next to the great spanikopita and Moussaka that was a surprise. I would highly recommend this place to anybody who wants actual greek food and knows what to expect. If you want nouvelle cuisine and al-dente vegetables you are in the wrong place. read more

On the day I went they were down a server ( someone had been a no-show) but the team stepped up and other than maybe an extra 5 minutes total in extra wait time everything was perfect as usual. read more
