Updating after Micah and the team sorted out the system and got it to a place much like I assumed I would own. We have removed the Savant system, which I believe is something customers should really look into before signing on to that particular system. Our main miscommunication in the beginning was the gap between my requirements in the system vs what is in most cases offered to the customers. Considering the sophistication of the equipment I am not surprised why savant system is commonplace. With Micah, we easily bridged that gap and build the system that I wanted pretty quickly. But other than that, the team and everyone that stepped in throughout the project was knowledgeable professionals and it would be hard to get a team that is at their level for your project. Totally satisfied is the best way to describe my feelings after working with Michael and crew. My A/V and home automation adventure began with Michael coming out to get and idea of what I wanted to do with the components I had, the new tech available in the industry and making it work with some of the items which were left over from the previous owners of the home. Within a week I had a basic prospectus in hand and a follow up meeting in a day. After some changes and upgrades on my part, we agreed to the job and set up a install date. Within a month, Avid's team of specialists were wiring and installing throughout the home. They were very skilled and respectful of my home. When they ran into an unforeseen wiring issue, they brainstormed quickly and found a solution which kept the job rolling. The second day of install, I had to go into work, but the install team videochatted me when they had questions about TV placement, which I appreciated. Once everything was fully installed, Michael came back out to the house to teach my wife and I how to work the system and answered all of our silly questions. Ok, not only did this guy complete the most flawless looking home theater, the sound and video integration surpassed my expectations. The equipment I purchased was VERY reasonable, but the extra programming that Micah completed on my house was phenomenal. He is a true craftsman, that goes the full extent in dialing in the audio system to the most perfect settings. Old is the new, new. Analog is the new digital. 2-channel is genius. If you're in the area (or if you aren't), stop by the Vine or Amber for a glass of wine and walk to Avid to have your mind blown. The listening room is chock full of drool worthy equipment: analog, digital, vacuum tubes.... I used them, before they had the store, for a small home system. In-wall speakers and wall hung TV for my family room, ceiling speakers in my living room and outdoor speakers. It's integrated with Sonos equipment. It's basic enough that my 16 month old figured out how to turn on the country station, but sounds great. Someday I hope to develop a very costly high-fi habit. Since my initial review of Avid home theater, I have had a number of additional improvements and equipment installed in my home by Avid Home Theater. This morning I came down and turned on my music on the digital streamer, and the volume control was not controlling the equipment properly. I called the store and left a message for Micah about the problem that I was currently having. I asked if they were something that he could do today in order to fix this problem? Within 15 minutes, I get a call from Micah asking me to try it again. It worked perfectly! He did a remote adjustment to my system from wherever he was, and quickly! This is the kind of professional company and service that you should want to install and maintain your audio/video equipment. Building a new house can be stressful and while looking for the different sub contractors that play their part, you need to find people that listen and work WITH you. While I really like Micah, his bid was absolutely ridiculous. I wasn't going to talk to any other A/V company however the second I got the push back from Micah when I voiced my thoughts, I became worried. He did not listen to what we wanted at all and when I addressed my concerns he became defensive with attitude. I was totally offended and put off. I have no doubt they would do a great job but listening and integrity play a huge part in keeping business. So I decided to call another very reputable A/V company. I had a bid in less than 24 hours and with MORE equipment and with our wants and needs fully addressed, the bid was over $100,000 less. That speaks for itself in volumes. read more

I've had Avid out twice to my house. The first time was a large install which included mounting multiple flat screen TV's, installing surround sound, installing speakers in the backyard, nest thermostat, rachio sprinkler box, door bird, sonos, control4, etc. The second time was to work on LED lighting inside the kitchen and string lights & flood lights in the backyard. Both times I was impressed with the quality of work, attention to detail and creativity. What I really measure a company on is their focus on the customer. During the last install we had an issue with one of our flood lights, so I gave Andrew a call and he was able to come up with a creative solution to our issue and fix it quickly (at no additional cost). The Avid crew is professional and I trust that the work they do is top quality. I can't wait for the next Avid project. read more

Well we bought a new home. We decided we were going to put in the so called Rolls Royce of a system, Crestron. We decided to also do Crestron shades. Micah at Avid was clearly unhappy. Well we started the Crestron install in early December. The Crestron team had been in and out of our house for over 6 months. It was the biggest nightmare. The job got so bad that the installer just could not get it right. They finally removed all there equipment and even the shades. The shades were warping with the heat of the sun. They couldn't get shades to work right. This was after corporate sending there key people from New Jersey out at least 3 times. Finally after 6 months, Crestron and the installer agreed to give me back all monies. All there installation of wires etc remained. I called Micah of Avid about 4 weeks ago. He put together an even more upscale system. He did my theater room and all my home automation. It took them roughly 1.5 weeks to complete the job. Remember Crestron was in my home for over 6 months. Micah did my job about 6 years ago. He was good then with maybe 3 employees. He now had like 12 employees. I walk out to my driveway and I see there big van with Avid on it. I look inside and the van is clean and organized. The 2 installers were so professional. They also kept my house very clean. Just good guys. When all the equipment was installed another group of 2 guys came in to do programming. The system is incredible. It is so easy to use. Micah is not the cheapest but I must tell you ,it was well worth it. The Crestron system kept loosing music streaming. Not one time with Control 4. The system is so much more seamless. Well I lived a Creston system and again Control 4. I actually believe the Contol 4 system is more robust and seamless. If you want a fantastic system and a great company Avid is it. I had spent well into the 6 figures with Crestron and actually spent somewhat more with Control 4. The beautiful thing is Avid is now out of my home. Crestron was here at least 30 times over 6 months. read more

Following my 1-star posting, I received a call from the owner, Micah. He was sincere (so it seemed) in his desire to win me over and apologized for the mistakes that occurred in preparing my quote. But, in the end, he failed to convince me to withdraw my review altogether. True, his quote to us was no-harm, no-foul in the sense that my own research determined that their recommendation was over-kill for our application (by no means "budget"). But I had to figure that out on my own and if you're not up to researching tech products and pricing, you might not have been able to conclude, as I did, that their proposal was inappropriately configured for your needs. I'm reasonably confident that if you want a very high-end, money's-no-object system, Avid will design and deliver it for you. They seem to hold themselves out as the Maserati, Ferrari, Rolls-Royce, etc. of this genre. But if you want to integrate your existing equipment or you're not up to 5 and 6-figure installations, then Avid's not the right fit. read more

Avid Home Theater exceeded my expectations. I tried to find a company who could mount my TV on wall with no cable/ wires showing. This task was more challenging than I thought it would be. When I met with the AVID team, they were so professional and assured me they could do the work I requested. It was no easy task because my cable was a mess and some was even bolted behind siding on my outside wall. There was never a time while they were working that I did not feel confident they would complete the job perfectly. Not only did they do a great job, they scheduled me on their calendar very quickly and showed up on time. The workers were knowledgeable and I was very confident they would do the job well.
