Our woods had terrible storm damage, probably twenty trees down, and many more broken, with branches and trunks sheared off, very old, very tall (60-100 ft or more) cedars, alders and maples. Nick and his crew from Avid were with us for five-plus days, chipping, grinding stumps, fishing widow-makers out of the treetops, lightening crowns of the oldest trees to lessen wind resistance, thinning out dead and unhealthy trees, cutting the downed wood into firewood-size chunks for us. And all the while they were cheerful, considerate, a pleasure to have around, showed up when they said they would, did what they said they were going to, and every day made sure before they left that we were happy with what they'd gotten done. If only all businesses operated the way Avid does. Nick and his team earned every compliment I can give them and are really nice people to boot. read more

The boys at avid tree care were not even doing a job for me and volunteered to take a huge pile of brush accumulated in our yard for us. It was such a blessing and saved us so much time and money. I had Nick and his crew out to remove two large firs in excess of 100' feet tall, a split-trunk maple and a smaller cedar. They also topped and windsailed two remaining 100'+ firs. I put this job out to bid from multiple businesses. Avid came in with a competitive price and was a pleasure to work with. I asked that the trees be brought down in large sections for milling, and they accommodated my request. When it was all done I had logs for pickup. They had removed all other debris. I never would have though that 48 hours after the job was completed I'd have a clean yard. A big thanks to Avid Tree Care for such awesome service. Highly recommended. read more

I first contacted this company nearly six weeks ago. As the president of an HOA that needs ongoing care for dozens of trees, with periodic replacements, I need a reliable arborist. Avid is not that company! After not hearing, I called back two days later and left a message. Over the next two days, they called me twice to insist they were interested and would be over to see the development shortly. I left another message last week, and they've been ghosting me ever since. How do companies stay in business with these customer-hostile practices? read more

During this last storm, I lost one of the few old growth hemlocks in my yard. It was lodged in its neighboring hemlock hanging above fancy landscaping. Avid's crew were really exceptional. They came out within 24 hours, removed the tree, cleaned up my yard, and saved the fancy landscaping. Super professional! read more

I don't write many reviews, but Kevin and his guys were phenomenal! Cut down a 100' Doug fir and placed it perfectly. Cleaned up and left no trace-except the big logs that I wanted. Had them grind some stumps while they were there. Painless and reasonable! read more

The roots were exposed above the ground and a lot underground. Dan came by and gave us a reasonable estimate. We weren't in a hurry and he said he would find an available time in the near future. He showed up a few weeks later. We did not have to call him again like we have had to do with many contractors who promise and then never show. He and his helper got the big root grinder off his trailer and started the nasty, dusty job. He spoke with me before he started going over exactly what we wanted and he made suggestions which we agreed to. Then he did exactly what we agreed to. He used protective boards to avoid sending rock and/or pieces of roots in to our house, fence, or shrubs. They cleaned up the pieces including the rocks that we have in our yard all over. He only asked for the agreed estimated price. Dan and his helper were both friendly and professional. We would certainly recommend his service to others and we would have him do any tree service we might need in the future.

Even though this was not a big job, he treated it seriously. The main task was to prune 2 ornamental plums (older than 10 yrs), esp to trim branches away from overhead wires and clean up the inside branches a bit. I had my own ideas of what was needed. John talked me through it & made well-informed suggestions about shaping the trees over time. We quickly came to an agreed plan. I then asked him to add on 2 single tasks: removal of a dead tree next to a privacy fence, and sucker pruning for an elder apple tree. His technical knowledge about plant species, their growth habits and use in landscaping helped a lot. Although I don't know a lot about ornamentals and landscaping, I do have degrees in plant science and horticulture. I recognized his technical expertise, and was glad he was able to talk with me so easily. On the business side, John gave me a written estimate at the end of his first assessment visit. For the actual work, John came at the time promised and finished the work - including clean up - in half a day. The charges were well within the estimate. No muss, no fuss. I highly recommend Mossback Arboriculture, and would call them for help again. I wish I had taken before and after photos to share!

In dealing with contractors for decades in building…read morea new house and major renovations/modernization of a 60's house, Joshua and his team ranks absolutely top! Or in my father's language "He shows himself a workman well approved!" (2 Tim 2:15). Let me enumerate some observations: * He asked knowledgably probing questions to insure that his crew does "What you want" and not "What you said" * His quote broke down the work into good layers. This caused us to realize that some of our asks were expensive but a sufficient economical alternative could be done * He owns and transport his own equipment. Many contractors rent out and that both increases bids and often left work unpolished because the equipment was due for pickup by the renter. * Many minor "tunings" were done during the work. Items not asked for -- but things he saw that would make things better for us -- at NO ADDITIONAL Costs. Example, we ask for new gravel UP TO our parking area (which was in good shape) -- he bought in two additional loads of gravel and recovered the parking area. The wife was absolutely delighted. * At the end of every day there was an email about the progress and what was planned next. During work day, he would respond within an hour when we sent an email. * He was glad to quote on minor additions (for example, removing a range fence and rebuilding it 20' further from the road). Work started promptly. * He hauled away a pile of old appliances at no cost. Our request was to clear 50' of trees and vegetation around our building for better protection against wild fire. Although we have Hardy (concrete) Sidings and metal roof we want that extra margin [if only for insurance purposes], This house was custom built for the wife's health issue. We then ask him to "fix 600' of access road that had become a bumpy ride as it aged over 16 years, similarly removing vegetation on both sides for 20'. The wife was ecstatic with all of the work done. Done promptly and at the quoted price. For a couple in their seventies -- we were double pleased about hiring Done Well and intend to make him our first call for future work.

RT Total Lawn Care is a misnomer as they do a lot more than lawn care. They are a "we'll do…read moreanything" type of business. In my case, it was construction. I am very satisfied with their work and plan to contact them again for my next construction project. My project was to demolish and rebuild the external, entry stairs for my front porch and to demolish a large deck and build a balcony with staircase to replace it. I have attached pictures. The finished product was spot on to what he and I had discussed and was (most importantly) wife approved. Rafael serves as the foreman, and his crew of two performed the job. The project was completed in 4 days (more quickly than planned). They used excellent materials and recycled wood from the previous structures wherever possible and appropriate. I really appreciate his eye for sustainability. His crew was rarely idle and worked continuously without watching their cell phones. His bid was about 2/3s of the next lowest bid. My only criticism was that the job site was not cleaned completely (95% clean) and some tire mark damage to my lawn was not repaired. I discovered some of this after the crew had left. This is no big deal. Rafael is very particular about customer satisfaction and strives to make sure you are happy before final payment is made. If there is a problem, he assures you even after completion that he will return to make it right.

I must admit, when I initially identified this job to sand and refinish my rear wood deck, I didn't think of contacting Rafael. Then I recalled how he and his team previously did an excellent job relocating my wood rear fence several years ago, and years later they redid some of my front yard's lot-line. To be specific - RT Total Lawn Care's pricing was competitive (not necessarily the cheapest nor the highest), very responsive (scheduled and showed up next day to provide me with a written estimate), started work on-time one day later, his team worked the weekend too (I needed to get the job done before a specific date), they didn't simply put new Trex decking onto any discovered structural issues - but they corrected them and reinforced them. As I posted previously -- I'd highly recommend and consider using RT Total Lawn Care again. But now I do so for most home remodeling, decking, fencing, new/repair and yard care services.

It took me awhile to find Roy, aka Matthew, but when I did I hit the jackpot. He helped me over the phone one afternoon while he was working, then again at night by text when I hadn't expected to hear back until the following day or who knows... perhaps never. With his help I bought a clamp but he was concerned about the photo I sent fearing with good reason the clamp would only be a temporary fix. So he came the next afternoon, put the clamp on and then crawled under the house to ascertain the extent of my problem. When he emerged he told me exactly what needed to be done and that he would return to fix it as soon as his schedule allowed. He returned six days later and did exactly as he described in record time! Then he even put all the dirt back into the enormous hole. Matthew, aka Roy, is an honest, reliable and reasonably priced plumber and to top it off, he's an all around great guy!!! I am so, so impressed with Kevin and his crew! The bid process was very professional, complete with arial photos of what was to be done on various parts of my property. Kevin's crew was wonderful. I believe that you can tell a lot about a business when the crew works eagerly, with good humor, and takes deep pride in their work. And, while Kevin is the owner who deftly manages the moving pieces of the crew and its complicated equipment, he also pitches right in next to his crew members when necessary. The work on my property involved (1) trimming back and "windsailing" the canopy of a huge, 100-ft tall cedar, leaving it looking great and in much healthier condition; (2) removing many trees that were inappropriate to their location, grinding out their stumps, and meticulously replanting the area with 30 other trees that were more suited to their locale; and (3) pruning many other overgrown trees. The work involved the dropping of many, many branches, but they never damaged any plantings. The crew cleaned up meticulously as they worked, and all the branches got chipped up and removed from my property. Also, the price was reasonable. I only write reviews when I am very impressed. I have successfully felled trees in my yard, taking care to notch them properly and using a hand winch and cable to control where the tree dropped. This time, I messed up, and a 35 foot tree wound up leaning heavily against my roof and gutter. It was about 6:30 PM. I called several tree services, hoping someone would respond. Kevin, the owner of Avid Tree Care called me back about 15 minutes later. I never heard from any other tree service. He drove straight to my home in Mount Vernon from a job he'd just finished in Anacortes. He looked things over and went to work, expertly removing limbs to safely reduce the weight on the house. Then he carefully dropped the trunk without any damage to the structure. It was a joy to watch his craftsmanship. If I have a need for tree service in the future, Avid Tree Care will be the company I call. read more

We hired Avid tree service to remove 5 alder/maple trees with one hanging directly over our cabin. On the day of the service 4 guys showed up they were vey professional.The brought the trees down without any damage.. They cleaned the yard.. it looked better than before the trees were cut.
