Nicely curated and has a very quaint feel to the shop. Ordered a crab salad sandwich and a hot meatball sub from the deli. The crab salad would have benefited from toasting the bread as the soft bread with a soft filling and cold cheese wasn't a very appealing texture. The hot meatball sub was better done with a strong Italian seasoning and Parmesan flavor to the meatballs. Cool little deli in the Spyglass area! I heard their sandwiches were good and that was definitely the case. I got a hot pastrami sandwich, a bit pricey but it comes with a giant pickle. They also have a nice assortment of meats, cheeses, and other goodies like cookies. I also got a block of local smoked cheddar cheese which was tasty. It's walking distance from other shops, resorts, and the beach. So pretty accessible if you're staying nearby. It's also right off the 101 freeway. read more

My family and I were staying at the nearby Dolphin Bay Resort. And because of that, we made a point of taking the short walking distance to check out this very nice, neighborhood market and deli. We enjoyed our shopping experience last year, so of course we wanted to keep the tradition going! They have so much to see and purchase. They might be a bit pricey, but that's the future we have to accept now in most businesses. That being said, my sister and I still browsed the whole store with shopping list in hand. It's always fun creating a charcuterie to share with the upcoming family reunion. And they had just about everything we needed! I had to control myself when it came to their baked goods and delicious looking deli section. My previous review fulfills it's 5 star review from last year, so I won't repeat all that this place has to offer. Very mixed about this place - it's like an Eastwood western: there is Good: a beautiful dried pasta display and nice locally baked bread and pastries; Bad: the deli person (female) is quite surly and rude; and Ugly: most items are really expensive (but then, this is no 7/11), and they don't seem to have good quality-control in the deli. What a great find. We went out to explore San Luis Obispo and on the way home looked on Yelp for a place to grab a quick bite to bring home to our hosts. We were looking for a light lunch and since this was Thanksgiving day decided "no turkey sandwiches". Yelp turned us on to DePalo and sons. We got two sandwiches to share for four people and since these are big portions, they easily fed us all. We added a couple of salads from the deli case, along with some cheeses, salumi and crackers for snacking. It was all outstanding. There are so many wonderful coffee places nearby but here you can peruse the isles of imported and rare delicacies that pack this little store. Stores aren't wineries and if product doesnt sell it gets discounted out the door to make room for those that fly off the shelves. That is going to happen in a place like this where so much quality is present at the same time- so be on the look out! This was one of those mornings where you could see forever and tge cool air was giving way quicker than usual. I arrived right at opening, and there were only a hand full of people around. I saw the cake and pastry display and ordered a cake slice to go as I headed to the coffee to be tge first to order. Coffee in hand I thought I was going to simply collect my cake and wrap it up at the cash register. Nope- I was caught by the aromas of meatballs and marina being readied and somehow ended up with a grinder as well. I loved that I found everything tucked away in this gem of a market. Toward the back left hand side of the market is a enormous deli with ready made food, tons of dried goods, and a deli. Hidden gem in Shell Beach. Amazing deli and market for those staying in Pismo /Shell Beach area. We stayed at Spy Glass Inn and walked a block over in the morning to order breakfast sandwiches. I ordered the croissant breakfast sandwich. Egg, tomato, cheese of your choice, and bacon on a fresh and great size croissant. It was only $9.99. Great service, friendly staff. My husband enjoyed the grinder and commented on how much meat there was! I was happy to see they had a box of the Italian candies I love on the floor.
