Such a cute place- my hubby and I were walking off dinner and enjoying a beautiful sunset when a couple came out of the shop and suggested we would like it there. The gentleman said it $3 ice cream on Thursdays- and it's super yummy. We decided to check it out- it's our last night here, so we were down for a treat. The 2 ladies working were delightful, super genuine in their friendliness. They gave us several ice cream samples, and my hubby got an apple turnover to pair with his morning coffee. Our daughter was in from out of town so we went to a local Thai restaurant for dinner. Of course we had to have some dessert and a nice hot cup of Joe since it was pretty cold this evening. I've been here before, back when the older woman--who I assume is the owner--was working. She was fantastic. She treated my family wonderfully and took the time to explain all the treats, which made the experience genuinely enjoyable. This time, however, things were different. When I came back, there was a very short 4 ft man wearing a hairnet and another woman behind the counter. The woman glanced at me and immediately turned away, while the man gave me a hollow, thousand-yard Gen Z stare. To make matters worse, they didn't heat up my scrumptious snuggle treat--it was served cold. If those two hadn't been more focused on flirting with each other, this visit might have been a good experience too. read more

What's amazing about this establishment is "Rosie" she is able to multitask with 25 people in here by herself. It's unbelievable to watch her in action. She's not only beautiful with a Colgate. Smile but kind caring and really cares about the patrons here. I told her she would be a great airline pilot because she's able to multitask. They're lucky to have such a great associate. Came across this place 2pm on Saturday as we were walking along the shops and decided to stop for ice cream. Interior was spacious with a good amount of seating but it seemed like most people were taking pastries or ice cream to-go. Service was efficient and both people I talked to behind the counter were nice. Ice cream is from a creamery in Oregon and they let you sample some flavors. Service here was great. You walk in and it's a very friendly Hello! And Welcome! We got a couple of treats to take home with us for later and a coffee and lemon bar to have there. The lemon bar had the perfect ration of lemon curd to crust and the lemon were picked by the owner herself in Visalia. There was a steady stream of folks coming in to order ice cream. As soon as we entered we were greeted by a very friendly and helpful woman. The cafe was older but well kept and clean. We ordered a few pastries- eclair, Apple and cherry turnover. They were very tasty. The only thing is I wish there was a little bit more fruit in the turnovers. My grandson said the eclair was the best one he'd ever had. The pastries here are some of the best in the area, super fresh and flavorful. There are other bakeries in the area, but the one thing that stands out for me is the service. You can find bakeries with good food just about anywhere, but the workers at those places are often just rude; at those places they never greet you, and just ignore you, some even are distracted on their phones until you order. Not at Sun-N-Buns, they are super friendly and very welcoming. I have been here a few times and this is my first review, they have consistently shown to be friendly and welcoming each and every single time I am here. Kudos to the management for ensuring that all the workers provide true welcoming service, sadly something that is a dying away overall. Stopped in yesterday on a walk with my daughter. Staff is very nice. Clean store and appears everything is made in house. Ordered 2 peanut butter cookies. Flavor was good however consistency was terrible. The cookies pretty much disintegrated upon biting into it. For someone who has eaten lots and lots of cookies these definitely were not done right. AVOID THIS TOURIST TRAP! Just because it's on Embarcadero does not mean it's good. As we walked up to the building I was thinking the first red flag was the 100 signs all posted or taped all over the windows advertising everything they sell, or possibly the 10-days-past-Christmas flimsy decorations still zip tied to every corner of the building. But my "do not judge a book by its cover" mindset got the best of me. The HUGE red flag we should have not ignored was the wall of pungent wet air mold smell that hit my face when we walked in. The only thing that could distract us from that was the loud drum vibration of air circulation machines running over time. It's clear the pastries and treats are made in house, however during our brief stay we heard (and saw) a midsize dog barking and running around the kitchen/office area. Whoever's dog it was (worker? Owner?) was seen carrying the dog as well and seemed to be there to eat with the dog. Not sure if that's advisable? But certainly not helping the vibes. Also not helping the vibes was the industrial tarps that covered the ceilings. It felt like we had walked into an oversized tent or construction project. Same with the walls that appeared to be original driftwood planks probably recovered from the sea decades ago (not charming when used for structural integrity). The carpet was worn thin and looks like it's changed colors naturally over the years of tread marks. I walked around to look at all the trinkets for sale and was confused- there was a half stocked turn stand of necklaces from oriental trading company, shot glasses reading "Shark Bite", oil painting greeting cards from yester year and top ramen cup of soups mixed in with Kellogg cereal cups. Basically, if it can fetch a quarter, it's for sale here. The worker was attentive and efficient, but clearly not cheerful or passionate for the work. We ordered two cups of coffee, but I guess we should have specified "hot" as it was lukewarm at best. It tasted worse than gas station coffee. We stood in line to get a refund, but there was a poor tourist family visiting from Sweden that was taking a really long time and I feel bad to think this will be their impression of Californian cuisine. We ultimately walked out, threw the coffee away and went to a coffee shop two blocks up the road (highly recommend going there and not here) read more

I got a coconut macaroon and it was tender, tasty and large for only 89 cents! The staff was polite and quick to serve. Public bathrooms are available close by as well as free parking. This spot is located on the main strip just steps away from Morro bay rock. Grab your goodie to go and cruise the shoreline as you listen to the sea lions and take in all of the views of the volcanic plug. read more

This place is a gem. I love the vibe. It's friendly and have plenty of seating. I bought a regular latte. It was better than average. My only complaint is it wasn't hot enough. The taste was good. It wasn't bitter or acidic and the milk was made perfectly. I also bought a brownie which was great. It was fresh, soft and definitely satisfied my craving for chocolate.
