This place is a joke. I reserved last night, show up this morning and am told they don't have a car. If I want to wait an hour for him to clean a different car. I asked if another location has a car and he said corporate is screwed and doesn't have the cars available. I had to get an uber to the airport for another company. Sat on hold for nearly an hour just to cancel and get my $ back for the bogus reservation. I will NEVER use Avis Again. read more

Risking a broken down car in the middle of the desert was better than using this rental car service. A truly awful experience. My partner and I were stuck in St. George due to my car shutting down halfway through a road trip and desperately needed a last minute rental- Avis was the only service who showed they had a car. We reserved a car through this location online, but when we walked in we were first told there weren't any cars available. We (two young females) barely got a word in before the older gentleman working the front desk interrupted to ask how old my partner was, then mustered up a car out of thin air after determining he was satisfied with our age. It was creepy, unprofessional, and rude. We left and actually decided to make an 8 hour drive to Reno for my car's dealership instead. Go anywhere else first. read more

Rented a car from Avis for our honey moon to get around Utah. Rented from the airport and we were very lucky to get a 2021 Nissan Rogue updated features and easy navigation, everything looked nice minus the red dirt and dust left by previous renter. And then we notice smear marks on the back seat windows and not just finger prints but boogers smeared in circles on both back windows. DO NOT advertise that you CLEAN and SANITIZE your cars when you so clearly did not. How you let this go unnoticed speaks volumes to the amount of effort you put forth in cleaning your cars and just how sanitary you are making them, yuck. read more

Avoid this location at all costs! Unfortunately, I had to exchange a rental car at this location (pick up and drop off was LAS). The people at the front desk were impossible to find - took a half hour of wandering around the parking lot. Then, instead of simply exchanging the car using the same LAS-to-LAS rental agreement (which is what should have happened according to Avis customer service), they created 2 one-way trips LAS-to-SGU and SGU-to-LAS. Each had a one-way charge of $300, so they over-charged me by $600. Because this location is an Avis affiliate, Avis corporate & customer service did not have the ability to refund me - this location has been unresponsive for a month now. read more

STAY FAR AWAY - HORRENDOUS EXPERIENCE! Avis of St George, Utah used a "bait and switch" scam to sell me one car and deliver something totally different (and less value). I've never been so ripped off by a car rental company. This was a classic bait and switch, complimented by a major lack of managerial support or zero customer support. It's frustrating because I've had good experiences with Avis in the past, but this experience inhibits me from ever using them again. I rented a premium SUV online for a week from the Avis in St George, Utah. When I arrived, a very sweet girl received us and told us they hadn't had the car we ordered online for months. That was very frustrating because I called the local office every other day for 2 weeks - left messages and called corporate asking them to transfer me. My calls were never returned. I did this because I was arriving late on a Sunday night with 2 young children and needed confidence that Someone would be at the desk to receive us. I rolled the dice with Avis and I was very surprised when this nice lady was there to greet us. Needless to say, we were not taken care of. Instead of our premium suv, we were given a standard suv - which online, was about half the price. This nice lady told us there was nothing she could do - her managers would have to fix it. She gave me their cell phone number. I called them every day for the week that i had the car. Nobody answered and nobody called me back. When I returned the car, there was nobody at the dealership to help check the vehicle in or help with luggage. For reference, it's a walk to the terminal from rental car parking and a cart of some sort would be great! Luckily, Hertz was around an they let us use their dolly. When we were inside at the desk we were waiting with some other people who were equally confused as to how to return our vehicles. Considering we had to get to a plane, we were about to leave our keys on the desk. At that moment, a young girl showed up and she was angry! I recognized her from the parking lot. Earlier, while getting our luggage, Instead of helping and welcoming us in, she stared at us and watched us struggle - I had not idea she worked for Avis. I was in total disbelief. At this point she was heated!! How did we ruin her Sunday? I was the one who had been bait and switched with a sub-par suv that hardly fit my kids, luggage and stroller. I had called to try and fix the situation about 20 times and not one reply call. Now she was furious with me?!? If you ever make a rental car reservation in St. George, Utah (SGU) and you use Avis, you will regret it. To follow my story up, I put in many calls to Avis corporate. I told them about my horrendous experience. They offered me a $100 credit. That still didn't cover the difference between the SUV I rented online and what was given to me when I arrived. They said it was my choice: "$100 or nothing." So I took it. But i told them I would do everything I could to inform people of their poor business practices. If I could say one thing to Avis, SGU: answer your phone. Other companies do it and it's actually good for business. Terrible rental service! We reserved online at Avis website and drove 30 minutes to the St. George Airport location. There was nobody at the desk and we waited 20 minutes for someone to show up. When the desk attendant returned, were told there were no cars available. I am very upset someone didn't call to inform us. Then called Avis customer service to cancel reservation and the customer service lady was only able to look up another Avis close to by to tell us it was closed. Then offered no suggestions or help. I asked to cancel my reservation of course and will not use them again! read more

I tried to rent a car from this location and was given a hard time. I was given the run around from the lady at the counter but her story changed on requirements needed to rent the car once we had corporate on the phone. I will never rent a car from Avis or Budget (they are sister companies) based on the treatment I received from this location. The woman behind the counter took a look at my husband and me and made assumptions based on our appearance. In the past I regularly rented from these companies. Never again! read more

I will never rent from Avis again! Rented a car at the Las Vegas airport. After driving for an hour the steering became UNSAFE at speeds above 35 mph. Called Avis and was told to turn in car at Avis in Saint George and get a new one. Went to the airport as I was told they are closed and have no cars due to runway construction. I was told by airport location to go to E 700 street location which closed at 3 pm. I then went to Cedar City location where they told me that they were individually owned and would not give me a car. The rude female at the desk {who didn't take her eyes off her computer screen) told me when I asked her "No I don't care about your safety. That is not my job." I asked her if Avis corporate would be ok with her saying that she is not concerned with my safety. She said "I don't care. They would be fine with it." I tried again at the Saint George location after I was given a case number from Avis. Again they declined me and said even if it was a safety issue they would not be able to replace the car. Again I called Avis and talked to a customer service manager who apologized for the Avis rental car Utah's rude behavior and lack of concern for my safety he said "they can be jerks". He attempted to have a new car delivered to me but it would come from Las Vegas or Salt Lake City between 2.5 and 5 hours away. Emergency Roadside Service was unable to get the car here due to the location. I put up the white flag and surrendered. To make a long story short I still have the car that I do not feel safe driving. When renting you have no idea which location is corporate or individually owned. Stay far, far, far, away from Avis Car Rental Utah. They DO NOT CARE!!!!! read more
