Let me just tell you this place is beyond horrible they told me they would have the van I reserved a month ago ready at 9am I got there and it wasn't ready two ladies said we had to wait longer and told us to go home but it might take all day because the van still wasn't there we proceeded to talk to them and they said if we didn't like it they didn't know what to say , they said they're privately owned and can cancel my ride at any time if she wanted to that our money was useless there because they can still have a line up of people that want the van I have and can just give it to them if they wanted . This is very unbelievable this place needs new management or a shut down . They don't even wear name tags but it was the Asian girl and And the big girl with very big glasses they are very nasty and rude never using this place ever again ever ...shout out to the guy on the 800 number that made us a new reservation and has us on the road now ! read more

Watch out - do not rent from them. Showed up and had to take a different car since they did not have what I had reserved. Returned the car and had to wait 10 minutes for someone to show up even though they supposedly open at 9AM. Then I get billed extra because they say the seat was soiled. I had nothing in car other than my purse and I know it does not leak anything. Horrible customer service when you call regarding the charge. Go elsewhere to rent a vehicle! read more

I am an Avis Preferred customer. I had a reservation to pick up a car at DFW on 4/17/18. I landed at 11:22 a.m. They did not have my name listed on the preferred board so I stood in a line for 1 hour to get a car. When I was assigned a car in the Avis Preferred lot, I was given a filthy Hyundai Accent, (see pictures). Every other car was washed but mine. I went back into the terminal to ask for a different car which I did get. When I finally got to the exit gate with my leading packet etc. I was stopped once more to show my picture ID??? The attendant just said, "What management wants, we have to do"? I got out at 1:08 with a rental car. I usually use National Emerald Aisle as I am Executive status and can be out in 15 minutes with a clean car!!! Unfortunately, they were sold out for 4/17/18. read more

I have been renting from this location for years. was sorry to hear stephanie was gone. returned a car today with the worst experience ever from the new manager. he was rude, hardly spoke, didn't even say hello, lots of problems at the counter. he yelled at another lady. I will never rent here or from Avis again, I would rather pay airport fees than rent here, and I am not done complaining a bout everything that happened. and he threatened to charge my credit card after I leave for cleaning and he didn't even look at the car. some handwritten stupid sign with rediculous cleaning fees. I told him I picked the car up dirty. he said it didn't matter. then he said to get out of the store. the guy was nuts!!! don't go there!!! read more

Wow, read all the reviews, I had a very similar experience with the rental car been dirty and smelly, I had to buy an air freshener it was that bad!, then I got over charged. I called their customer service to dispute the charges and the rep told me she would send me an email with the signed documents to verified if I had signed for the charge, never heard back from her. Now I'm wondering why this location had such bad customer service by the guy "Vito" is he the owner? is this a franchise business? Renters beware, once they have your credit card number not much you can do.... read more

I read the reviews on here about this Avis location, but honestly I have never had a problem with any of the staff, especially Vito. He has always been good to my husband and I when we rent cars, telling us to take a vacation to Vegas, lol. We always reserve for a smaller car, but he upgrades us to a larger car at no cost. I'm not sure what problems have happened previously, but I liked coming here and will probably come again and will recommend others. read more

I should have read the reviews before I chose to rent here. I will repeat what others have said....STAY CLEAR OF THIS PLACE. The actual initial rental went well except Vito the person at the desk, complained that we had just made the reservation earlly that morning and he was going to have to give us a car he did not want to give us. Also the car did not have floor mats. It had just been cleaned inside of the Sears repair shop and we were asked to take it out from there. The problem started when my son age 33 (second driver) wanted to switch to a different car because the one we were provided was not a good fit for him. It was a Hyundai Elantra and for his height and size it had too many blind spots. He called and was told there were not any other available cars, but could call back at 1:00 pm to see if any had come in. He did call back and was told he could have a VW Passat in the morning between 9 and 10. So at this point we were happy. He arrived to swap out the car and was told he could not have the new car until he vacuumed the old one. There weren't any floor mats so there was some grass /dirt on the floor. My son was frustrated, but said fine where is the vacuum I will vacuum it. He was then told that they do not have a vacuum on the premise. Since we saw them wash the car when we picked it up, I find it hard to believe that they no longer had a vacuum. We do not live close to the rental location and my son was on the way to work in the opposite direction of his house and would be late if he went home. Vito was insistent he could not have the other car until the original car was vacummed. My son was incredibly frustrated and told him so and left. As the renter, primary driver, and the one that paid for the car, I called to speak with Vito, who proceeded to be incredibly rude to me on the phone. I told him I was confused by what had transpired and had never been asked to clean the car before we brought it back and if that was a condition for changing cars, he should have indicated so upfront. He cut me off, proceeded to go on a tirade about how he was doing us a favor giving us a more expensive car in a higher class (which we did not ask for-only a different car within the same class) and it was common courtesy to clean the car before bringing it back.(it was not dirty) That he had not said to come in between 9 and 10 but to call. He told me he did not want to hear what I had to say. I worked very hard at keeping my calm and tried to remain respectful, even when he was not. I had to finally interrupt him and I asked him to let me speak. He basically said no, he would not let me talk and continued on and on. I told him I had rented and paid for the car and I was the one he needed to talk to, however again he was dismissive. I never say this, but in this situation I truly believe he spoke to me in that manner because I am a woman. He was beyond rude and when I told him I was going to complain to Costco travel who I used for the rental, Avis with whom I am a platinum preferred member and Amex who I used to pay for the car, he told me go ahead, he did not care. We are keeping the car we have, will return it on Sunday as per contract. it will be interesting to see if he tries to charge us extra.as he did with others. l will NEVER do business with this man again. I also will NEVER rent from Avis again if this is the type of franchisees they allow to do business under their name. read more

Stephanie at this Montclair location was extremely helpful and polite in resolving a problem caused by Budget. Budget did not have the vehicle available on pickup day that I had reserved and prepaid for months in advance. The individual locations do not have visibility to inventory at other locations , so I had to call Budget main. They found me the vehicle type I reserved at another location farther away, but said I would have to pay for the difference in price. They screw up and want me to pay more! I called Stephanie back and she ended up calling around for me and found the vehicle I wanted with no extra charge. They delivered it to the Montclair location the next day and I was good to go. Thank goodness they have some employees like Stephanie that understand fairness and customer service. 5 stars for Stephanie and 2 stars for Budget. read more

Ive been renting here for 3 yrs and with avis for 6 yrs total this weekend was the first time ive had a horrible experience at this location Stephanie and Ronnie have excellent customer service skills im treated very well by them. This new person that they have named charity gave me my first bad experience she was not very welcoming and also stated some false information about me to the same people that i see and rent from every week i will no longer deal with her seeing that i rent every week from avis I rather deal with the regular people. I booked a rental from this location online. I was called 24 hours before pickup saying the car class we had booked was not available and only specialty cars which means we'd have to pay an upgrade fee despite not wanting the specialty car. We asked for the manager and the lady said she was the manager. She said if we had any issue we need to call corporate and then call her back. We asked her to three way corporate and she hung up on us. Needless to say, we will not be trying to rent from here again. read more

I read the other reviews that mentioned someone named Vito. I dealt with a very personable and professional man named Tony. He treated me like family. He was courteous and attentive. The van was washed while I waited. It was spotless inside. I would highly recommend this Avis location and especially dealing with Tony. I reserved a car at AVIS Montclair on Tuesday, February 9 through Costco for a rental from Saturday, February 13 to Monday, February 15. I was called by Vito at AVIS Montclair on Friday, February 12 and informed that they didn't have a rental car for me the next day. I went to AVIS on Saturday and spoke with Vito there was a car sitting there but he told me it was being saved for someone else and they would not have any more cars. Later on, I called Vito anonymously and asked did they have any cars available and he said they would have some available after 1:00pm. The AVIS rate was $109.00 for a two day rental whereas I got a $49 rate through Costco. Needless to say, Vito didn't want to lose money. I WILL NEVER USE THIS AVIS AGAIN!!! If you don't want to get ripped off you won't either!! read more

My experience at this Avis was horrible!! I reserved a car for pickup ( my pick up time was 930 am). When I arrived at this location, nobody was at the service desk and I finally went inside the Sears store connected to this particular location. The associate paged for customer service to the Avis counter. I waited another 10 to 15 minutes and finally 2 Avis employees walked in. Apparently, they had decided to disregard my reservation time, because after waiting for 20 minutes, they came strolling in with coffee in hand. When asked what time my reservation was for ( which was 930), the older man glanced up at the clock on the wall ( which was two hours fast ), and casually joked that it was already 1150am. I was not amused. He totally disregarded the fact that he was late, and didn't even apologize for the inconvenience!! I usually go to the Avis in Rancho Cucamonga. I deal with Jack specifically. He takes his business seriously, and knows that a happy customer is a repeat customer! I highly recommend the Avis in Rancho Cucamonga, off Foothill Blvd! I decided to try the Montclair location this one time because it's slightly closer to my house. Needless to say, lesson learned!! read more

Please avoid renting from this location. Vito is crazy!!! I had such an awful experience renting a car with Avis Montclair specially with the branch manager Vito. I rented a mid size SUV on 12/28/13 and it was not cleaned or washed. so before I drove off from the lot I tried to wash the windshield and there was no windshield liquid. So I asked Vito's assistant to fill the washing liquid and she said she will just spray and clean the windshield for me. i said i don't want it cleaned but want the liquid filled up. She was very young and seemed to not know what i was asking. So I opened the hood and showed her that there was no liquid and to fill it. She called her branch manager Vito. He instead of apologizing for not checking the vehicle before renting it, started shouting at me in a very inhuman manner that i had no right to touch the car!!! i called customer service and inquired with them if they had such policy that a customer can't touch a car or even open the hood. They obviously said there was no such policy. Customer service was trying to organize a different rental from a different location but all vehicles were sold out so i had no choice but to hold on to this rental and so they gave me a credit for the inconvenience. when i went back to return the vehicle, Vito brought up the topic again and said i shouldn't have touched the car as it was't mine! when i told him that customer service gave me a credit, he didn't even know that the credit would be applied within 48 hrs of returning the vehicle and said "customer service hasn't given you any credit as there was no problem with the rental"! ... so i called customer service again to double check and they said that the credit was in process. ....Crazy as all this sounds, I will NEVER rent from this location ever again. read more
