Everything from supplemental insurance, gas replacement, and other rental charges were explained thoroughly, so no surprises. He was also willing to stay a little later for a customer who called and wanted to pick a car up right around closing time. I chatted with the customer and learned he rents cars from this location often and always gets great service. Well, I was enjoying my stay in Michigan so much I kept procrastinating leaving and eventually the month rental was up and I needed to renew. Technically I was supposed to renew at the location where I rented it with which would have been the airport in Indianapolis but here I was in Livonia Michigan not wanting to have to drive all the way down there just to do the paperwork. I went into the Budget office on Plymouth Rd and they made a few phone calls and were able to work with me to transfer my car to their location without having to pay the one-day drop off charge. After that I was renting it from them. The only problem I had was once when I gave the kid my AAA card to prove my membership for the discount, he tried running it through the credit card machine and told me it got declined. At first I thought he meant my Visa card has been declined which surprised me because it should have been fine since I had just made a payment. Then I realize he had run my AAA card through and I told him of course it didn't take the charge, it's a membership card not a credit card! I had never told him that that was going to be the card I used to charge the car since I know it isn't a credit card. I didn't think that was too bright. Otherwise everything went smoothly and they were very helpful to me.

We took the car as it wasn't a big deal to us. We returned the car with no apparent issues only to receive a large bill charging us for the pre-existing damage. I have emailed Sixt with pictures of the windshield chips and dent with no response ever. I have also had the phone run around on multiple occasions. I have since read about them and have found out this has been an issue or many others resulting in a prior class action lawsuit. Rent from anyone but Sixt.

It took a long time to pick up the car in Milan but once rented everything went smoothly until we got a flat tire in Menaggio on Lake Como. We were to be in the area from Sunday thru Wednesday. The flat happened on Monday AM. We notified Sixt of the flat. They offered to send someone to change the tire to the spare. Unfortunately it was not a full tire but only a temp that you are not to drive on long distance. There was some discussion about turning the car in at Lugano, but they couldn't confirm a car. They would assure us that they would call us with a plan but never did. When we called them and they assured us that the issue would be marked URGENT and call within 24 hours. (NOT very urgent). Actually they never called..... We went and tried to change the tire ourselves, when we discovered the inflator was not in the vehicile. ONLY the spare tire. Fortunately a local man stopped and was able to inflate the spare, go with my son to a local business, where the tire was repaired and we were able to complete our trip, through the mountains of northern Italy and on to Venice. NOT RESPONSIVE TO OUR SITUATION - NEVER CALLED BACK. VEHICLE WAS NOT PROPERLY MAINTAINED AND PROPERLY STOCKED. We lost a full morning of our vacation but were able to safely complete our trip despite the service or lack thereof from SIXT. VERY DISAPPOINTED IN SIXT!!

When you arrive they hit you with several fees $15.00 per day for using your own insurance and a $30 miscellaneous fee. Mine averaged out to about $40 a day. There is a separate $500 hold placed on your credit card but that was released pretty quickly in my case when I returned the vehicle. If it seems too good to be true it probably is.
