Good afternoon the problem I had in fort lauderdale florida Oct 17 2025 was i picked out a car months prior get there, me and my girlfriend. They say, pick any car, because I am gold getting the car ,so I was like ok cool so I pick the car soon when it was time to leave, they told me this car was registered to someone else twice. I had to go through that third time. They told me I had to put down a down payment. I remind you something. They should've told me before. In spite of paying for my tolls in cash with my most recent rental. This location still chose to bill my credit card for the tolls and calling the numbers provided to get assistance is just a circle of automated. I use Hertz at least 4-5 times a year and have never had an issue until now. read more

I've rented vehicles from this branch the last three trips back to MI and I wish I knew of them earlier. Better late than never. The customer service is warm and friendly. They get me in and out in an efficient manner. The cars are always clean and the value is second to none. They also honor discounts in affiliation with Delta, AAA and AARP. Very unpleasant service. By far the worst Hertz experience. Car pick up - 1st I got a dirty and smoked in car. Huge fuss for swapping that. The girl at the counter making faces. And Charged me way more than what I reserved for, when I asked. again I had to go through all the facial expressions to get what I was promised. Car drop off - had to wait about 10 minutes for someone to come to the front. It was an empty desk. Being a gold member I thought I will get a faster and nicer service. So I made reservation on line and paid for it online. Went to this location today to a RUDE customer service rep. I approached him and he said driver's license and CREDIT Card. I told him I already paid and got a confirmation number. He said it doesn't matter. I gave it to him. He said is this your debit card, I said yes, I paid in advance. He said doesn't matter. Hertz has a policy for DEBIT cards of $500 deposit and a hold. I said for what a debit card, that makes no sense, I paid in advance. The guy just looked at me. NO SORRY, NO THANK YOU, no NOTHING. So rude. I stormed out. Also the fact that HERTZ took my money on the phone and doesn't know their own POLICY. I travelled 10 miles to get and was dropped off. So I had to wait for the return trip. NEVER USE HERTZ again, ever. This guy made the difference, RUDE. read more

The company car that I rented was on the repo list. Which suggested that I stole the car. All because this Hertz office refused to be accountable for not keeping my number and the company telephone number on file. I was penalized for that office bad business practices. read more

Terrible experience. Avoid if at all possible and rent from the airport. People who work at this location are lazy and rude. The car they rented was in poor condition. This location charges more than the airport too. I had a completely different experience renting at the airport where people were very helpful. I had a one week rental of a compact car for work purposes. Despite this being a small location, I had very little wait at both pick up and drop off. Staff was friendly and quick. Car ran great and was very good on fuel. The price was very good, especially considering it was a last minute rental. I will be needing to rent a lot over the next couple of weeks and would gladly use this location again. Zero issues! read more

Just wanted to share my HORRIBLE experience with Hertz in Canton, MI on Friday, 6/26. My friend and I booked a pick up appointment from 4-5pm. We showed up at 4pm and the building was closed, not a single person inside. There was a sign on the door saying due to COVID-19, they will now be closing at 4pm instead of 6. We needed this rental car for our road trip, we had a hotel booked for that evening on WV. We called customer service where we were informed that due they closed early due to COVID, and it wasn't their fault, although we booked a month ago and they ALREADY KNEW ABOUT THEIR CHANGED HOURS. They offered no solution and told us we would just have to get the car the next morning. They claimed there wasn't a single car in the state available. We asked if they were willing to compensate for our lost day and the hotel we booked, and they said no. We asked to speak to a manager who also offered no solution or even an APOLOGY. I'm never the person to post these kinds of things but the least we could have received was a call letting us know they were closing early, so our entire roadtrip wouldn't have been changed. I am very disappointed in the service that I received at Hertz in Canton, Michigan located on Michigan Avenue. I rented a vehicle for EIGHT Weeks from there and spent nearly $4,000. When the charges posted to my credit card, I found that there was an additional fee for $300 on my credit card. I tried calling customer service regarding the charge and found that I was charged for a smoking fee. Since I had not smoked in the car, I thought this was strange. I was advised to call the location I rented from regarding reversing the charge. When I called I spoke to David and advised the reason for my call. I advised that the car had not been smoked in and he advised that even if the vehicle is not smoked in, if it smells like smoke, they will charge the fee. I explained that I rented the vehicle for 8 weeks and even if the car was not smoked in being a smoker if your clothes smell like smoke and you get in the vehicle, after eight weeks the car will begin to smell like smoke. David assured me he would look into this matter because he understood my frustration. I PATIENTLY waited four weeks and after not receiving a call back, I called the location back today. I spoke to David again and explained that I was disappointed that I had not received a returned telephone call. I reviewed the situation again and he placed me on hold and came back to the line and said he had spoken to his GM and he advised they will not reimburse for the fee because that would mean that just because I spent almost $4,000 that does not change anything because it had a smoke smell even if it was not smoked in. I advised that while I understand the policy now that it does not matter if you smoke inside of the vehicle or outside of the vehicle the written policy appears that there is not smoking inside of the vehicle. I asked that they consider the amount of time the vehicle was rented, the smoke smell overtime may transfer to the fabric seats even not being smoked in because it is on your clothes. It has become evident to me that in the midst of a pandemic these vehicles are not being properly cleaned. There is no way that with using disinfectant to sanitize the cars properly that every car does not smell sanitized. I am unsure if this is a way to have customers pay more money to sustain the business through a difficult time, but please beware customers. Very bad business practices... read more

Extremely unhappy with the worst service experience ever at a rental agency. I am a Hertz Gold member and reserved a car on Monday12/22 for the upcoming Friday afternoon for a 1 week out of town trip. I get a call on Friday 12/26 morning from the manager, Louie that they don't have a car that I had reserved and I should go to the DTW location to get my car and they will honor my reservation. I immediately start calling the Hertz locations and find out they are all sold out. Friday is 12/26, the day after Christmas. I called the Hertz reservation line and they say that the local Canton location must honor my reservation and should be brining the car as reserved they even took the "complaint" to make this happen. When I called the Canton office just before my reservation time I get the same story that that they don't have any cars and I should go to DTW. I went to DTW and they have compact cars , but tell me the Canton location is responsible and must get the car. When I called back at Canton, the manager first hangs up on my call and then when he accepted the call would not agree that he made any mistake. I had to wind up reserving at National car at the last minute and had to pay 4 times the cost due to last minute reservation on this holiday weekend. read more
