Don't rent from this location. They rented us a vehicle that had a tire that had been plugged on the SIDEWALL. A true safety issue. And the plug was very visible and they should not have been renting out the vehicle. I had to pay out of pocket to have a new tire ordered and installed. $200.00. I may or may not get reimbursed. I have rented from this location many times over the past two years and have always had a good experience.

My wife and I had a rental set up to be ready at 8 am at Karric Square location. We walked in at 10 am roughly and the gentleman tells us sorry, your rental isn't available anymore as it was rented by another customer who was there on time. First of all, we were never told that the policy was arrive on time or you were out of luck. Yes we were late because of scheduling with my sons' athletic schedule, however when we asked if someone could be called at another location, he told us that he would not call Polaris because they are always booked. We then asked him to call the airport and he said that they would deliver cars to the Karric Square Dr. location in the afternoon. We asked him to call and he again refused because "they never answer the phone". My wife very calmly stated that this customer service is very unacceptable and is the worst customer experience she has ever witnessed. He shrugged his shoulders, scoffed and said sorry and to have a nice day. I left and walked out prior to the engagement very upset because I had no patience and she handled the rest, but we then called the airport and they were able to get us a reservation and handled the situation very professionally. Needless to say, I don't have faith in This location and will probably never engage in an opportunity to rent from Avis again unless it is an absolute last resort. Absolute scam of a company. Look up "Avis rental car damage scam" on google. They sent me a letter three months after we turned our rental in stating there was damage and they were going to charge $1200 on my credit card. I tried emailing and calling 10 separate times and could never get through. A week later they collected the money. My rental vehicle had absolutely zero damage and I have proof of that. No way this doesn't turn into a class action suit against them. read more

Avoid this location if at all possible! I received a dirty car and was then charged a cleaning fee when I returned it. I ended up paying it and then 3 weeks later I received notification from my credit card provider that Avis is trying to charge ANOTHER cleaning fee. I've called a few times and they say they are removing the fee, but I have not seen the removal yet. I received a letter from "Nora Henry", supposedly from the Avis Operations Team, stating that the fee has been reversed. Do not reserve a car from here if your expectation is for the reservation to be honored. Especially if you have a trip planned that is relying on the car you reserved. I got a call at 1pm the day I was supposed to pick up at 5pm saying that they don't have the 12 passenger van that I had reserved weeks ago for a trip that weekend. The best part there was no apology and all I was told is that I can call around and maybe try the airport location and see if they have one. I got a very unsympathetic "good luck". Never, ever will I try to rent from them again. We luckily were able to scramble and ended up having to rent 2 minivans from Turo. I wanted to see if it was an issue with the location or Avis itself. I made a reservation at the airport during a travel trip to DCA, and was told I could use a debit card to pay for my rental when I made the reservation, however when I went to pay for the rental the same situation... they asked me for another major card, telling them I did not want to pay with a credit card I preferred to use my debit card, they said it had to be a major debit card? what ever that means because it is a MasterCard Deibt... non the less I moved over to Enterprise where I was able to use my Master debit card with a deposit and received my car rental. Summary, AVIS does not accept most debit cards no matter what they say. If you dont have a CC then dont take your chances with them because they might deny you if you dont have a major credit card. read more

I was very pleased to be able to rent a car on very short notice. However, after I got in the car, I immediately noticed a not overwhelming but yet not too subtle (cigarette) smell in the car. Because this was the only car then available I was not able to change cars immediately. The manager did say that if I came back in a few hours he could swap out the car. Because I got busy with my visits, I wasn't able to change cars. When I did turn in the rental car, I was 47 minutes into another day and was charged a late fee which was nearly equal to another full day. I'd add that Toby (the manager) just gave me the receipt and said "you're all set". He didn't indicate that there was an extra charge and I didn't notice it until I was out the door. I appreciate that I bear some of the blame for the lateness but believe that such a late fee was excessive under the circumstances. It is important to note that when I asked about this fee, the agent (manager?) explained that somebody was already waiting for the car. I appreciate this, but essentially this also means that the maintenance turnaround on the car would have been virtually nil in order to not keep the subsequent renter from waiting. For this reason, I would be hesitant to rent from a suburban location again. (I can't believe I'm saying this but in my experience, airport locations tend to be somewhat more flexible and accommodating). read more

Do yourself a favor rent from enterprise, hertz, or a bicycle from the neighbor kid. Don't rent from this company especially the location on Karic Square in Dublin Ohio. I had a reservation that was made months ago. I received a email confirmation three times. I called them one week ahead to confirm my reservation and to confirm they had a mini van. Then I called one hour before I was suppose to pick my rental up because they had called and left a message confirming my reservation. Again I asked if they had a mini van as we were going on vacation the next day. I arrived and the agent told me he had my reservation but didn't have a mini van. He was the only one there. I told him I just talked to someone here and he said he didn't know anything about it. Pretty sure it was him and he lied. He said they had a traverse available and would offer it at a discount rate which was 646 for the time I was going to rent it (I found the same vehicle on avis website for the same vehicle for the same time period for 680, slight discount but not what he said it was). I asked what it would normally rent for and he said 1,400 for the same time period. After laughing out loud he asked if I was calling him a liar and pretty much yes I told him I thought he was a liar. Then he's like there is a mileage cap. I'm like no my reservation was for unlimited mileage. I took the traverse because we had trusted they would do what they said they would and we were going on vacation the next day. When I looked at it it was dirty in the back of the suv some kind of spilled liquid all I've the doors. I told him about it and asked if he could clean it and he's like probably not. Never seen such a lack of customer service like this ever especially from a company that should be all about service. But apparently this is how Avis trains it's associate and operates its business they promise one type of vehicle and deliver whatever they want. Booked a minivan MONTHS ago through Avis only to be informed the day before our trip they would not have a minivan for us. After telling them how upset we were and how we really needed one, we get a call the next morning that one had come available. Unfortunately, it was not only very dirty inside, but i questioned where it came from and was told from the "maintenance lot". I asked to see paperwork showing that this vehicle was safe to drive for a very long distance trip and was refused. And would not be told why it was there and what was wrong with it. Safety and cleanliness is my first priority for my family and this company cared neither for that. A 1 is generous... Absolutely the worst experience renting a car -ever. We had scheduled our rental (minivan) in April for pick up at the Frantz Road, Dublin, Ohio location on June 30th at 9:00 am. When we arrived (at the confirmed date and time) to pick up our vehicle, we waited a few minutes to even be greeted. When the employee finally came to the desk, he was wearing sunglasses where you couldn't even see his eyes. When we gave him our name and asked about our rental, he just shrugged his shoulders and said that it wasn't here. We followed up with asking when it would be here, and received the answer of 'Never', and he looked away. We kept asking how, why and where our van was and eventually he said it 'might, maybe, possibly be here at 11, but he couldn't confirm'. He tried (supposedly) to call someone about it and we were told there was no answer. We left asking him to call us if he heard anything, and also let him know that we would be following up. We tried calling the store back- mind you, we were supposed to have left for vacation by 10:00 am, and received no answer. I then called customer service. We were told to rental the exact same class vehicle with a competitor and Budget would refund the difference. This difference is $600+ since we had to rent the van last minute, and my original rental was made 2.5 months prior. I have submitted ALL documents 3 times and am still getting the run around. Will update if this ever gets resolved. Even IF, we receive our money back, I will never rent from the Frantz Road/Dublin location, and will share this experience with anyone that asks for a recommendation. **Update- we did receive a refund of the extra cost we incurred by having to use a different company. read more

This location is very deceiving and will try and screw you over. They say you can leave the keys in the drop box if they are closed but they don't tell you that if you do that, you automatically get charged for an additional day, plus a late fee. My $53 rental went to over $100 because I used the night drop box even though I had the car back within 48 hours of the pickup time. They also added on a charge for some roadside assistance that I did not ask for. Staff was very rude and refused to take any charges off. Corporate was not much better... Rude but did refund some of the money. Will not go back here ever. Have rented hundreds of cars over the years and I've never experienced something this shady before. read more

Toby is the owner of the Avis franchise off of KarricSquare and I must say, as a manager of a different franchise, he went above and beyond to satisfy us and ensure we WILL return to his Avis in the future. Rented a mid size SUV for a weekend family trip. Got a small SUV that was not cleaned, needed a vacuum (French fries under the seat) and the windshields washed before we could even load it, and then to add insult to injury, I was charged 50 bucks for a smoke or pet smell. I don't smoke and neither does anyone in my family and we don't have pets. Absolutely will not go back. read more

RUN....AS FAST AS YOU CAN TO A DIFFERENT CAR RENTAL COMPANY!!!!! If we could make this review a minus 8 stars, we would. This place and the owner are so unprofessional (to say the least) and if this is the "face" of Avis, shame on them! After calling the day before to verify that the particular vehicle we asked for would be there and told "yes", when we got to the location to pick up the SUV, it all of a sudden had a broken window and had to go to the shop. It was obvious the "owner" was not being truthful and ended up giving us another vehicle, a crappy, filthy van. He said he would drop the price a big $20!!! How very generous of him!!!! We could have gotten more off if we rented a bicycle somewhere! Assuming he wasn't the manager by his unprofessional look (and immature, snide behavior) I asked to speak with someone above him. He informed me he was the owner! He was rude, condescending and simply ridiculous! He was unapologetic for not having the vehicle we requested months early and acted as if he was doing us a big favor by allowing us to rent this ugly van. Since we could not look elsewhere for a vehicle, due to the time constraints, we took the nasty van. He said he would take it back and wash it. When he returned and we walked around the van, there were so many dead bugs on the windshield that you couldn't see out of it. Nice to know Avis was sending us out with a "safety hazard" due to their lack of professionalism! I asked, "did you wash this van??" He replied, "yes." I noticed only the front of the van was possibly "sprinkled" to give it the appearance of a car wash. I asked him to wash it again and he said he only had a hose and brush, but to bring it around back and he'd do it again. THIS IS NOT WHAT I CONSIDER A CAR WASH!!! He again "sprinkled" the van with water, which did nothing to eliminate the dead bugs off the windshield or, front of the vehicle. He didn't even attempt to dry it and simply waved us on. He sprinkled it for all of 15 seconds in the back of his location with all the dumpsters and nastiness. I can not even tell you how disgusting it was that he assumed this to be considered a "car wash." This place has terrible customer service. I rented a car for a little over a month. When I got there on time, the person at the front desk didn't even tell me that it would not be a car I requested. It was a smaller car, and he just told me he rented my car to someone else. I didn't think too much of it. But I really started to hate the customer service even more after I returned it. I noticed I was charged $10 extra. He didn't even tell me when I returned the car that I would be charged extra. I called back asking for the reason, and he told me he needed my invoice number. The one invoice number I had only went up to the end of the month and didn't show the rest of the invoice. Apparently the invoice gets split into two with different invoice numbers and I didn't have the other invoice number. He told me he couldn't find the invoice in the system without it. Such an inconvenience. Anyways, I told him I would call him back after I find the other invoice number. I call him back, after he noticed it was me again, he cut the phone on me. I call back again, he cuts the phone. I just got so angry that I just kept calling. He never picked up. Worst customer service ever. Don't rent your car here. Where can I start? I made a reservation 2 months ahead of time, confirmed my reservation a week of ahead of my scheduled pick up date and I arrive to no vehicle and a smug employee (Logan). He wouldn't make eye contact with us, said he knew the vehicle wasn't going to be available but thought a smaller vehicle would work so he didn't bother to call us. SERIOUSLY! I just had the worst car rental experience of my life. I reserved a 7-passenger vehicle to take my family and elderly parents away for the weekend. I reserved the vehicle online and specified a pickup time of 8:00 am, hoping we would get an early start. Unfortunately, things didn't work out and I didn't get there to pick up the vehicle until 9:45 am. The manager (Matt) informed me that my reservation was for 8:00 and since I was late they had rented the vehicle to someone else and they had no other 7-passenger vehicles. I was extremely surprised by this given that my credit card had already been charged for the full amount of the rental. To add insult to injury, Matt was not only unapologetic, but was very aggressive with me, and treated me like I had done him some great disservice. His "solution" was to rent me a standard car and tell me to drive it to the airport and try to exchange it for a larger vehicle. Given that this was a great inconvenience I asked if he could at least give them a call and make sure they would have an appropriately sized vehicle for me. He was not even willing to do that. I realize it is common practice for car companies to overbook cars especially at a location like the airport where they have a large inventory of vehicles and it is likely they will be able to accommodate the customer. However, it says something about a companies' commitment to customer service when they give away the only 7-passenger vehicle they have when it has already been reserved and paid for. When I returned the vehicle I talked to the owner (Toby) about what happened. He did not feel there was anything wrong with the service I received and he made no attempt to try to retain me as a future customer. read more

After ordering online, I was greeted with a filthy Impala, inside and out, with 0% oil life for a trip to Colorado. I was late to work, so Toby could spray the car, which did not clean any of the bugs or bird poop off, and vacuum out the tissues and potato chips out of the interior and trunk. I had to come back later that afternoon, to spend forever getting a new car, after seeing all of the cracks in the windshield, near flat tires, and other issues with the vehicle, only to be traded for a Camry with the former passenger's information in the vehicle, and no power outlets, which is grand when you have to keep a 7yr old entertained, and stay productive while you're traveling across the country. Toby refused to answer his phone, so I was redirected to an agent in Jamaica, and Rebecca, the area TPM simply brushed me off, so I now see why Toby can flatly ignore customers, as he is not held accountable by his superiors. I will never go back to that location, and now that I have been randomly charged $30 for tolls that I never accrued, it totally undoes the $50 "shut up and go away" that I received for my "inconvenience".
