Avis Rent-A Car - Avis location - Car Rental Near Me - Houston, Texas

Called this Avis to ask for an available car. Lady who answered said " I don't know ! You'll have to go through the website - I can just tell you what's available " ... ok - went through the website. Reserved a car, at a certain time a was given a confirmation number. When I got there the lady in a Covid mask said " I don't have anything available... you'll have to come back later. " yeah okay ... as if I'm going to waste the rest of my day waiting for your cars to "be available" Said - No Thank you and cancelled the reservation. PS. The vehicle I reserved was sitting in the parking lot as I drove off. Not to worry though Enterprise down the street got me in a car in 5 minutes and I was on my way. This was a great Avis when Mike ran the store; however, it is no longer the same. They called me at 9 AM for my 10 AM rental telling me the car would not be available until 2 1/2 hours later. The number they gave me to call the airport was a generic number that no one answered. When I tried to call back to this location, no one would answer, and they put me into the generic customer service line where it was impossible to get someone on the phone. read more

Originally received a call the day before pick up, telling me they didn't have a minivan available. Because of covid, they sold their fleet but wasn't sure when the new cars would come in. Mr. Mike was very accommodating and offered me an SUV. He was very friendly and funny. read more

I have rented from this location on at least three other occasions. I never had to leave a $200 deposit in the past. Not one time. Today, I presented my card as I have always done and I was told I could not use a Debit card to pay for my car. I was told I had to use a Credit Card. Now I don't mind paying a small deposit for a car, but not $200, that's a bit much. More so, since at no time in their rental documents does it say anything about the deposit. I did go back and re-read their rental policy, and it does mention what they will accept; there national call center says there is a credit check and I agreed to this when I made the reservation, I call BS on this as I checked after I left and there is no such detail in their rental docs, nor was mentioned at the attempted time of pickup. I am disappointed that I was unable to rent a car here, if I had known this was going to be a problem, I would have gotten a vehicle at Enterprise (which only has a $50 deposit). I just did not use them, as Avis at the best price in Tomball or I could have gotten on at IAH as they also had great prices. It would go a long way in Customer Service, if your people would actually look awake and be nice to customers. She did also assume I had no rental at the location above even after I presented a Reservation Number. So, maybe, they just did not want my business. read more

I rented a car through Avis with a guy name Frank was super cool in the beginning had no issues. When my rental was about to be up I called to extend the rental for another week. They never extended my car rental but they allowed me to take the car for another week. Whole time I thought it was extended because Frank told me it was. The whole time they didn't realize that the car wasn't there. They only figured it out when I called to ask a question about my rental. He said the rental was returned the previous week that I was mistaking. How do you not realize that one of your vehicles is missing? Imagine if I was a different type of person and decided to not return the car. Obviously I did returned the car but not everybody would of done the same thing. Then frank try to blame me saying it was my fault? How was it my fault when you made a mistake from your end? I will not be renting from this location anymore. read more

Horrible service! Reserved a vehicle and when we got there nothing was available, had to wait an hour and half before one was available which made the reservation part a complete waste! When returning the vehicle the manager accused my wife of smoking in the vehicle and began to yell, scold an demean her in front of other patrons and co workers. Highly unprofessional and disappointing. It was almost as though he was making a point to feel bad so that she wouldnt question the additional charged. What a rip!! I will be making multiple reviews and avidly making a statement against this location. read more
