Juan was absolutely amazing! My reservation was for 4PM, I arrived around 3:55PM, and there were only 2 customers ahead of me. I had to wait for more cars to arrive; however, it wasn't that long of a wait and they were extremely accommodating. This place doesn't even deserve 1 star. I made a reservation well in advance - almost a month. I ordered an SUV. When I arrived, they told me they only had a minivan. I hate minivans. I had no choice - it was a long drive, so I took it. They gave me a dirty car with a half-full tank. To wrap things up, I'll never set foot there again and I don't recommend anyone else go there. - SCAMMER ALERT - We booked our car 2 months ago, but they told us they don't have the car for us and we were forced to pay for an upgrade for a Tesla. Charging it was SO MUCH trouble and we had to travel to Santa Barbara that time and it was a pain in the butt. Later I found out if they ran out of cars, it's not your responsibility to pay for it. Here's the terms and condition in Costco travel: " Free Upgrade: Valid on reservations made for an economy through standard size car at standard daily or weekly rates at participating locations in the U.S. and Canada. The upgraded car class will not appear on your reservation but will be applied at no extra charge upon arrival at the rental counter if a car in the next higher class is available. " Either way, I don't know who took the money but maybe the indian dude took it in his pocket. It's a shame that this company allows this malpractice. Ps. Finally received rate I had originally been reserved at and after numerous complaints I have been refunded the $365 that was unused on my rental time. He proceeds to give me a sedan. -normally if a car isn't available you get upgraded free of charge. I like this avis, but also I don't. I've only had good experiences here after like 3 car rentals. The prices are good and the service is pretty good. The weird part is you walk into the office and it immediately takes you back to waiting rooms from the 90s. They even have the old perforated printer paper somehow. Really he only down side is its kind of tricky to return the cars. They don't open Sunday, which is normal for rental car places that aren't at airports, but the parking garage its based out of is just weird and kind of confusing. I've gotten myself lost in it, so just pay attention to where you pick up the car and you'll be fine. read more

Please don't rent from here! Could not have had a worse experience. I picked up my car and it had a broken monitor screen. Couldn't read anything on it. I requested a new car and the dude working there said it's good enough and that they didn't have any other cars available. I threatened to cancel the res and go to a different Avis and then all of a sudden a new car became available. This new car kept having low tire pressure. After refilling it twice I called to request a new car. They said there were no other cars available and instructed me not to worry about the leaky tire. After returning the car I realized I was overcharged. I called Avis to ask about this and they said it was because I returned it a day late, when I had in fact returned it right on time. I arrived 15 minutes early, and they asked me to wait until 12 to come to the counter. That's fine. What's not fine is watching this employee at the counter fear-monger each person who comes to the desk. A customer wanted to link her reward points to her reservation, and the employee was insistent that it would raise her rate. The customer declined supplementary insurance and the employee threatened that if she got pulled over the car would get impounded and she's have a $1500 fine. The woman still insisted that she didn't want the supplemental insurance and they employee finished the reservation. Well, either Avis requires law abiding contracts or there are optional insurances. It can't be both. Then!! A black gentleman comes to the counter next. The employee tells him he needs the supplementary insurance because he's likely to get pulled over. He asks what for and she says, "no reason." My god, you have to be kidding me. read more

Rented an SUV but when I arrived (after walking 2 miles) they casually told me they only have small cars. I own a small car. I needed an SUV. You could give a courtesy call to let renters know not to waste their time. They then tried to send me to a different store before having me wait an hour for a car to be transferred. THEN the car they gave me had a barely working key fob. I had to use the physical key to get into the car twice, which set off the alarm. Finally, I called and asked if I could return early to get rid of the useless car, and I was told I would be charged a fee. Legitimately terrible service. read more

Awful place. Charged me for unnecessary things and didn't even explain so I had to look them up on my own after I paid. The owner/CEO person called me 9 hours later(I dropped off the car at 9am and she called at 6pm) claiming that I didn't return the keys to the rental car. Like what? Why would I keep the keys to the car and how would I even get a receipt from them if I didn't return them? And then she demanded I look for them and return by 6:15. I asked if I could have more time since I was away from home; she said, "Well, I don't know if I'll be here so if you call later then you will be charged." Even though I was 99.99% sure that I returned the keys, I rushed home and looked for them. Obviously, they weren't there so I called her back ASAP and in a more apologetic tone, she said to "not worry about it anymore." Literally, what was that about? Had a really difficult time both with this Avis location, and Avis customer service. The communication about billing, and me trying to address it afterwards, was atrocious. If you do a long term rental with Avis, they bill it in 30 day increments. This was not communicated to me for my 42 day rental at the counter, so I was handed an estimate that I thought was for my entire rental, but was actually only for 30 days. I was never given an estimated total for my complete rental. When I was confused about the charges I was getting, I called both the location and customer service, and was met with really condescending and hostile responses. I was batted about between the regular customer service number and the location, told that the other person was supposed to address any compensation I would receive for the lack of communication, and then for the lack of customer care. When I returned the car, I was given a marginal amount off of the rental, but nothing that made up for the extremely frustrating experience. The complete disregard for my experience as a customer, and being talked to as if I was stupid for taking issue with the communication around billing, will definitely make me avoid Avis in the future. read more

Previous reviews truly reflect this business location. Worst customer service ever, no receipt unless you request, overcharged of what they agreed upon. I reserved a car at Avis online, upon arrival was told no car available, I had to pay extra for upgrade (should they give you free upgrade if your reserved car is not available?). Okay fine I was given a SUV for $101.55 a day including all fees and taxes (too bad I didn't take a picture of the rental agreement), when I return the car next day they took away the original agreement and told me I'm all set, no receipt ( I blame myself for not asking one). Then next day they charged me $240.32. I went back telling them they overcharged me. Instead of $101.55, they said I'm now being charged for $110.04. If you can rent a car from other rental companies don't come here. read more

Ms. Georgia was a pleasure! She was very professional, nice and patient. It was my very first time ever renting a car and I rented a few times after. She made my feel very comfortable each time. I would highly recommend renting from her. Renting a car can be confusing, overwhelming and you could be charge surprisingly if you don't know all your information correct. Just ask the right questions and you will get an answer. I think a lot of the bad reviews are just simply just misunderstandings from their own mistakes and lack of research. Awful. Rent your car elsewhere. I reserved a compact car online for 3 PM Friday. End up waiting for 40 minutes and getting a minivan instead because they were "out of cars." Meanwhile the woman behind the counter tries to up-sell me the "roadside assistance" for an added $$. She tells me that if I blow a tire, it's my responsibility unless I buy the assistance. Lamest threat ever, considering that I am responsible for the tires every other time I get into a car. I am an "Avis Preferred" customer. Isn't the whole point of this program that the car be ready to go when I arrive? Right now I am returning the car. It is 9:05, and the office is supposed to open at 9:00 AM. This was the worst experience with car renting ever. We reserved a 5 seat and all they had left for us was a 4 seat. We went to fill up gas right before we dropped off the car right down the street and when we arrived they told us that the pump at the gas station pops before its full. Charging us an extra 27 dollars for gas. Please do no go here. They will charge you for everything and they really take advantage of student drivers who do ask the right questions. read more

Rented a car at the Las Vegas Airport. Returned the car with a full tank of gas. Got our bill with a $15.99 charge that said fuel service? Called to find out what the charge was about and they said since we did not drive the car more than 75 miles we needed to go back to the counter after returning our car and provide them with our gas receipt and show them we filled the tank??? Seriously? Not a lot of money, but I am sure most people do not realize they are being charged that small amount. Really adds up Avis for all those customers you are overcharging. I can see a lawsuit coming your way. Not only that but if you ever rented a car at the Las Vegas Airport, the line is super long. Preferred member but still would not wait in that line to show a gas receipt. Avis knows that and people need to look at their receipt and dispute it. read more

I don't ever write reviews, but I'm trying to change that this year, and this is worst customer support I've ever experienced. I called August 6 at about 5:35pm PST to have an itemized receipt of the charges emailed to me as I believed I had been overcharged. The woman put me "on hold" because she had in-office customers - she actually just put the phone down on the desk where i could hear the customer's PERSONAL INFORMATION but it was fine, as I needed to locate my contract number. After about 5 minutes, she collected some additional info from me then said the emailed receipt would take 20 minutes for me to receive, but I knew they were closing in 15 min. I asked her to simply confirm the spelling of the name in the e-mail and she said she had already sent it and was sure she had gotten it right. I said since she was closing soon that I just wanted to be sure, and she hung up on me mid-sentence. I called back, then she let the phone ring a few times, then picked up and immediately hung up. After a couple more times of the same song and dance, she turned off the phone so I wouldn't be directed to her office anymore. I eventually ended up being directed to the reservations line, and this support rep told me she wasn't able to email me the receipt, as I had to contact the office I'd returned the car to. I told her the above encounter and that she had hung up on me, and she didn't apologize, just asked for irrelevant information. She then reiterated that I needed to contact the local office. I asked for her supervisor, and she said supervisors are unavailable unless it's about refunds. I told her thats exactly what I wanted (which is true because these charges are outrageous) and I've now been on hold for 35 minutes, and STILL havent recieved that initial email. :) TL;DR If you don't want to be charged twice the amount you were quoted for a rental car, and prefer decent customer support, STAY AWAY FROM AVIS read more

Juan that was helping me at the front was very rude and literally was arguing and going back and forth with me about the rate HE told Me and that same rate I expect. He also did not even make my reservation from when I called so when I got there there was nothing reserved. My mistake was that I did not ask for a reservation #. THEN on top of him telling me he had a car he tried to go back and say he did not after wasting 40min of my time.I normally go through Georgina but she was not in. Very frustrating experience. This is by far the worst Avis I have been too. Customer service is terrible here. When picking My rental I was several hours late related to a family emergency. I apologized and told her when my original car pick up time was for her and she goes " Well im not going to have a car for you," in a horrible attitude, which was not even required at all.She then proceeds to tell me about a deposit that is required, even though in general Avis doesn't require that. Secondly, she tells me how the insurance that I had purchase with the rental on Hot wire, doesn't cover any real damages(which makes no sense). And lastly, when returning the car, she proceeded to say how she would have to charge me for one gallon, since the needle is going to drop once they clean the car. Do not rent from this business. So disappointing. It would be really convenient to have a rental place in the neighborhood (walking distance to my home) and would be worth paying 2-3x airport rental costs to avoid getting to/from LAX. But...no luck. I have rented twice from here, I don't care at all what kind of car I get as long as it runs but both times I have had to wait a long time despite a reservation because they don't have cars available. This would be understandable considering it's a small shop without a big inventory, but there was no apology from the staff or anything. Both times I was overcharged on my bill and when I complained, I was treated like it was my fault. The charges were eventually removed as it was clear they shouldn't be there, but very ungraciously. Plus I think if I have a reservation at 5 and no car is available until 6, I should get a discount, but that is not happening here. So I will get myself to LAX for cheaper rentals in the future. There is such demand for rental cars in Westwood, if anyone reading this wants to open a better shop! I will not be returning. read more

This place is under new ownership/management. You can still park you own car in the lot during the time you have your rental. The service has improved slightly. If you don't really car about the type of rental car you are getting, then reserve the sub-compact type. If you are picking up the rental car in the late afternoon or evening, then chances are good that there will not be any sub-compact cars available, and you will be upgraded to the mid-sized sedan level at no charge. read more

I am not surprised this business has such a low rating. Let me start by saying, Georgia is awesome. She works non stop and it very pleasant. The owner however, is an idiot. My drivers license is expired bc of covid. The first time I went to rent a car with my expired license there was a senior white lady there with her expired license permit. Georgia would not let me rent the car bc I didn't have one. Understandable. I applied for one IN FRONT OF HER and gave her the confirmation number. He boss, on the phone, was not satisfied with this. I spent an hr, trying to give the same information the other person had and was given the 3rd degree. The second time I rented the car it was more of the same. The third time, after giving me the same trouble, I asked to speak to him. He kept saying I could go to the dmv. Sir, do you understand we are in a national pandemic?? After arguing with me, he finally said he's had 5 cars stolen bc he let them go with an expired license. Now I feel discriminated against bc what would ever make you think i would steal a car, especially considering I've already rented and returned to you 3 times??!? I called another Budget right after and got one with no issues what so ever. I am extremely offended and will contact the BBB and consumer affairs. read more

Save yourself the stress levels and avoid coming here at all costs. The customer service here is near extinct. They work very slow here and are very rude with customers. The person that help front desk likes to dispute when customer has an explanation and argue back and forth. You can wait up to 1 - 2 hours here even when it's not busy. We had only 1 customer in front of us and we weren't asked if we need any help or was acknowledge that we were even there. We rented a car from this location instead of LAX thinking that it would have been better to rent from a neighborhood car rental however we were wrong. First of all, they did not have any vehicles available for us to rent. I reserved a vehicle at this location a month prior to pick up so there was no excuse. Secondly, the lady acted like she did us a favor by giving us an upgrade to a Mustang. Mind you we had four suitcases so a Mustang was not even big enough however that was the only vehicle that was available for us to take so we had no choice. After an hour of driving the Mustang, the battery went dead. We had to call roadside assistance to get a jump. After two days of holding to this mustang the battery went dead again on our way to watching a football game that we were not able to attend because we needed roadside assistance once again. We had no choice but to waste our time going to the airport to switch out the vehicle. I called this location about the inconvenience that they put us through by giving us this mustang that died on us twice and was told that because I prepaid for the rental there was nothing they could do as far as compensation for our troubles. I do not recommend this Avis car rental location as they did not care about what I went through nor were they dependable or reliable with providing us with the vehicle that I initially asked for. read more
