It s not the first time I had rented a car from this Budget Location and I had the same bad unacceptable experience before but the convenient location made do it again.. The middle age lady at the desk was very rude and tried to give me a 38,000 miles car to drive off. Which I asked her about a newer / lower mileage to rent. She was very short with her answers and ended up giving me a newer lower mileage car. I did returned the car ONE entire day earlier and she still charged the original dates. I would not recommend this office for a rental. Their customer is extremely poor and unprofessional. After prepaying and reserving a high end SUV, I was told it was not available when I went to pick it up. They would only offer me a much older and smaller SUV, but did say my car would be available the next day. When I returned the following day, my original SUV was still not available. They offered me another smaller SUV that was just returned and dirty. The rep vacuumed the drivers side and I asked if they could wash it. He only sprayed it with a pressure washer, with me in the car and I drove off with it dripping wet. These people deserve negative stars. This is pretty much what happend step-by-step, stay away from these people because they will scam you lie to you amongst other things - I went online and booked a 16 foot truck, pretty basic nothing too interesting, I'm sure they get hundreds of these bookings every week. I show up to pick up the truck. The guy working the front desk by the name of VALEMX straight up lies to my face and says that the car I reserved is no longer here. I ordered a 60 foot movie truck, yet it's nowhere to be found. He moves forward and cancels my reservation and decides to book a brand new reservation for a 26 foot truck. honestly, it was no big deal. I was happy to pay the difference and get a bigger truck. He does his magic behind the keyboards takes my credit card and my drivers license, without quoting me any prices decides to book the reservation and add four different types of insurance that I specifically told him I don't want. when it was all set and done, I wanted my receipt, he pretended he lost it, at one point he picked it up off the floor. He didn't give me the receipt that showed additional $80 of charges per day that I specifically told him that I don't want to added. - his coworker walks me to my rental. Every side of this truck was damaged. Not only was a damaged, but the interior was filthy. It was full of garbage trash from the previous renter, absolutely disgusting. It was either crap or mud smeared all over the floor mats. The truck was so disgusting and dirty that I literally had to lay out paper towels and sit on it so I don't get my clothes dirty. It's absolutely unbelievable. You guys possibly happened to another human being. To, I drove home, only to find out that the cargo is locked and they never gave me a key, so now I can't move. I can't open the back. I can't move any of my personal belongings and have a 26 foot truck parked front of my house, blocking traffic. last, but not least I can't get into the cargo. I can't load the truck. It's completely useless. I am so upset, you have no idea how infuriating this whole thing is. read more

When we rented our car, we had a quite an eventful morning. We had just dropped our dog at the vet, after vomiting throughout the early morning. We also had to be at our location at a certain time to pick up our Italian Honey Bees. Despite the stressful events, we maintained a positive outlook, and Johnny and his staff kept the positivity rolling! Rented a small vehicle for a long road trip to save on gas. Arrive to get my vehicle and the only thing they had was a giant suv that got about 12mpg. They also legally can not charge you additional driver fees in California if your additional drivers are family...but they do anyway Their customer service didn't even respond to the ticket I submitted (2824AD0F) on their website. They also charge you 30$ fee for airline miles you may earn from renting. The miles I earned have a dollar value of about 5$ for renting a month. Why even offer miles? read more

They tried to sneak a 50 dollar charge for gas even though I filled up at the 76 right down the street. Didn't even call to warn me, just tried to add it in and hope I didn't notice. Luckily I had the charge from the gas station on my CC statement and the corporate line helped me. But if I hadn't checked my statements I would have never even known about this extra charge. I will never rent a car from budget again! I had a truck rental reserved for Saturday at 5:30 PM with hired movers waiting at my house. When I arrived at Beverly Hills budget they were closed so I had to show up the next morning at 8 AM at which point they said we do not have a truck for you. Then they told me I had to return it by 2 PM the same day if not I would be billed for Sunday and Monday the holiday because they are closed at 2 PM. This is an absolute joke of a company! When I showed up to the location (rented from Avis), they had about 3 cars to choose from, non of which were what I selected online, ok fine. So then the car that I did choose reeked of cigarettes, which is amazing too smell as a non smoker on a 7 hour drive. I was a little weary about visiting this location because of the negative reviews. Much to my surprise, my experience was the total opposite. I called, the person picked up the phone was very nice, answered all my questions, made an appointment, I was able to get a better car for the same price that I was quoted. The car that I received was clean on the outside and inside. The car pick up process was about 10 minutes total from start to finish. They explained the stipulations of the rental very clearly and I felt very comfortable when I left with what I was told. The return process was perhaps the most surprising. From start to finish it took about six minutes. They made sure that I had a full tank of gas, No major scratches and even made sure that I had all my things with me. Personally, judging by my own experience, I can definitely recommend this place for your next rental. read more

Terrible experience. Reserved a truck and walked 20 minutes to this location to pick up, only to find out they didn't have a truck for me. When the front desk lady told me they didn't have the truck, she was not empathetic and honestly didn't care. No apology or anything. Just a "we don't have the truck." To make matters worse, I was charged a $75 fee a few days later for "no show", even after this lady stating that she will cancel my reservation because I was concerned of being charged. STILL WAITING FOR A REFUND FROM A CANCELLED RESERVATION! I made a reservation online, but called to cancel before the pickup time and requested that a cancellation email be sent to me. Despite this, Avis did not provide me with a cancellation email and still charged $130 from my account (even though I did not prepay for my reservation). I called the Beverly Hills location and an employee informed me that it was cancelled and the charges should have never gone through. He told me he would get his manager to contact me the next day and provide me with the cancellation notice but no one ever did and it has been two weeks. They rep at the location also provided me with a reservation hotline I could call to get the charges resolved. I spoke to a specialist who provided me with a case number and informed me that I would be receiving a refund in 3-5 business days. It's been almost two weeks and I have yet to receive anything. I've made several attempts to contact them but no one is willing to address my situation nor answer the phone. I can understand being charged for a prepaid reservation, but this was NOT a prepaid reservation and I was still charged. Carmen at this branch displayed the worst possible attitude to customers and to the Avis brand. My wife and I, in all our travels, have never encountered such appalling behavior from an employee in any store or office. Other Avis customers, present at the time, agreed they had never seen such a display (they were also experiencing problems with Carmen). She started off unfriendly and unhelpful, this developed into hostility and an unwarranted demand to leave the office!! Carmen then threatened us with the police and actually called the cops (we waited for the police who were sympathetic and said they would talk to her). We understand the logistics of running a car rental business is difficult. The fact that Avis didn't provide a car which had been reserved and prepaid weeks in advance was disappointing but the real problem for us was Carmen's aggressive attitude and refusal to try and help us or offer any advice beyond "you can go to LAX to pick up a car", although she didn't know if there was a vehicle available at the airport. There are no Chevy Impalas, Ford Focus or cheap ass rental cars. There are no day laborers standing on the sidewalk waiting for you to pick up your moving truck on the weekend. This is where you go to pick up a S550 or Gallardo to play baller for a day or weekend. Or get a really good truck for moving, which why I was there. I found a 20% off coupon code online (yes! I love coupons) and got a better deal than those junkers at U-Haul. They charge $10 a day to park your car if you need to drop it while you're using your rental, but as Jessica at the front desk pointed out, there's street parking a plenty on the weekend just watch the signs. The staff was professional and very unlike the crazies you get working the U-Haul counter. I guess dealing with high end clients makes them happier folks cause they probably get tipped. read more

Avoid them. At all costs. Or you may find yourself paying costs that appear out of nowhere. We reserved a Ford Edge for a camping trip. When I showed up, no Edge; they tried to push a smaller Kia on me, but I needed the room of a larger SUV. The only thing on the lot that fit the bill was a BMW X5, which they grudgingly (it seemed) let me have at the reserved rate. When I brought it back, they said they'd charge us a $150 cleaning fee because it was dirty. It was; a windstorm at the campground had put a fair amount of DRY dust in the cabin, nothing you can't get out with 10 minutes and a Shop Vac, only slightly more work than you'd do in cleaning nearly any other return. I'd already gotten the majority out myself just with a dust brush that morning, so I know you'd barely break a sweat getting the remainder out of cupholders and carpeting. In fact, there was an Explorer getting cleaned and vacuumed right outside the office. "Are they paying a cleaning fee, too?" my wife asked. No answer. There wasn't any level of filth that merited a $150 fee, IMHO....which the manager said should have been $250 (!) but he was doing us a favor. My wife asked to see the language about the "cleaning fee" in the agreement or any other associated paperwork. Lo and behold, he said it isn't written down -- anywhere. Again: a sizable fee THAT ISN'T DEFINED IN ANY RENTAL PAPERWORK, even according to him, and is only assessed, it would seem, at the discretion/imagination of the manager. I've returned SUVs and trucks with dirt-caked floor mats, sand and blown-in dirt, slush and more to other Budget franchises, as well as to other rental companies. I've NEVER been asked to pay a "cleaning fee." "You have to return the car to us in the exact condition we give it to you," this guy told us. And he, of course, gets to decide what that "exact condition" is. Asking a renter to return a car in reasonable condition is a reasonable request. This, however, felt very much like scamming, in my opinion. He got jammed up and had to give a customer a vehicle he would have otherwise made an additional $30, $40 or $50 a day off of, and -- again, in my opinion -- saw a way to recoup some of that. It wasn't the first time I've rented from this location, but it's the last. It may also be the last time I rent from Budget, after 20+ years as a customer. It's godawful that they'd allow their brand to be sullied by an outlet like this. read more

I drove off the lot with our Budget truck and after about 10 blocks, I looked down and realized that the gas tank wasn't full. It was halfway between full and the next notch down. So I called Budget immediately to tell them and a gentleman named Manny told me to take a picture of the gas gauge (which I did with a time stamp) and come back later. I did exactly as I was told and even returned the truck with a full tank of gas, out of courtesy. The man who checked the returned vehicles in the parking lot came in and told Manny, in front of my husband and me, that yes, the gas tank wasn't full when they gave me the truck. When I asked about getting money back for the extra gas I put in, I was told there was nothing they could do. They refused to give me any sort of refund. Basically, Budget made me pay for somebody else's gas after insinuating I would get some money back AND admitting they gave me a truck that didn't have a full tank. I had rented a vehicle for pickup on Friday at 6pm and arrived at 5:50pm only to find the entire place shut down and closed. I was forced to drive all the way down to LAX and rent another car, who wouldn't even honor my previous confirmation, so I was forced to pay a MUCH higher price for a much smaller car. Not to mention the people who work at the LAX Budget location are terrible human beings and miserable to deal with. Kim was great because she found me a truck, but overall unbelievably horrible. Its as if they were doing this for me for free. I reserved a truck then their inventory guys told me it was not available. They said they would get back to me shortly and never got back to me. I tried calling them and could not get through to any inventory manager let alone mine. I left a message and never got a reply. I was told a truck became available because of a cancellation, but that it had to be in by two the next day. At the office Kim told me 1pm. I should have read the contract before signing, but it said 12pm. I got the truck back at 1pm and was charged for two days. I called CS and they called the franchise and they said it was supposed to be 2pm. They refunded me the daily rental rate, but not the 'cost recovery fee' of the 'energy recovery fee' because these were under taxes and could not be refunded. BS. Thieves. Cheapskates. read more

By the time they inspected the truck and I drove out of the lot was 11.30. This Budget Rent A Car is a bit out there for people not living in Beverly Hills. You don't have easy freeway access, so you're stuck on Wilshire for awhile (can be traffic-y) until you get there. The check out was easy and simple. I got a 4Runner and I guess they don't check the maintenance on the car or what not but the maintenance light was on the whole 1.5 weeks that I had the car. On the way back, you typically have someone check off your car to make sure it's okay. I had to go inside the rental place and find the person to do the check off. This could be irritating for someone who needs to leave soon. Other than that... they have nice cars like porsches, mercedes, range rover and even the mini coopers! =) read more
