    Line that took two hours to get through.

    Run, don't walk from this rental company. We had a pre paid voucher from my travel agent. After waiting for 2 hours to reach the counter to be helped, the woman behind the counter pulled up our reservation number, but could not put in the right information. After an hour of showing our voucher, license and credit card she still refused to give us a car. She did not offer any alternatives or want to help us in any way!! She refused to speak to our agent. After an hour getting nowhere, we canceled our reservation and walked next door to National Car Rental. Valerie had us in a beautiful car within about 15 minutes! What a total waste of time!!

    I flew in from Florida to Sacramento and rented a car for nearly three weeks. I work remotely but every once in a while I come out for a couple or few weeks at a time. I work in Corte Madera. I picked up a Malibu car from Avis at the Sac airport. The rear tire was making loud noise. I checked the PSI and all four tires were fine. I thought maybe it needed a new tire but the tread was fine. I then realized the the car would shake once you reached 35-40mph and would only get worse the faster you'd go. I was on the freeway and stuck in bumper to bumper traffic for a while, so I hadn't noticed this right away. Well, I sure as heck did not feel safe driving the car. I called the customer service line for Avis. I spoke to a gentleman that was SUPER helpful and very kind over the phone. I wish I would have gotten his name because he deserved a five star review. Anyhow, he arranged an exchange for me at the San Rafael Avis location, since it was the nearest one. This was the absolute WORST service ever! There were two men when I walked in. I explained that it had been arranged in advance for a car exchange. The elderly man demanded I go fill up the car with gas. I told them I was on my lunch break, it was inconvenient and when I originally rented the car, I made it clear that I would pay the $10 a gallon for them to fill it and nothing had changed between then and now. He said I wasn't returning the car, I was exchanging it and it needed to be filled up I told him I would not be filling it up. He told his coworker to pull out the Camry at first and after our gas conversation, he told him not to pull out the Camry, that I would be given the Corolla that was parked on the street. I don't care what I'm driving, I just needed a dependable car for a few weeks. I got the car and it was FILTHY. I think someone had just returned it and they never cleaned it. Being in Marin County, I would expect better service and a clean vehicle. If you have an option, stay away from Avis on Francisco Blvd. The guys stink and the service is s**t.

    I am not surprised to see that other renters have had a horrendous experience at this facility. Please note that this location services both Budget and Avis. First of all, our car was rented from Budget at the San Francisco airport but we went to the closest rental location since we are in Marin. all four tires had pressure problems, one in particular was extremely low, potentially making the vehicle dangerous to drive. We called ahead and they told us to bring it in... I walked into the rental office and was ordered twice in the rudest fashion to sit down in one of the chairs. I was being spoken to like I was a canine. I objected and I stood. This is not the way men talk to women in Marin or elsewhere. In exchange for our malfunctioning vehicle, they offered a lesser car. We objected because it would have been very uncomfortable to squeeze in five family members. They claimed that they didn't have anything else to offer us but their junkyard lot was full to the brim of cars. There was no apology and no acceptance of responsibility. In fact they blamed us for the problem and ordered us to fill the car up with gas. Once again we objected. We asked Adil to fill the tire. He did a half-assed job; did not even fill it up to the level recommended by the manufacturer. So we had one wheel at 31 and 3 wheels at 39. Soon after we left the junkyard Budget the tire started leaking again. I pointed out that we could have a wreck and that Budget would be responsible. Adil shrugged; he did not care if we lived or died in the Budget vehicle. Long story short, we drove all the way to the airport because they would not cooperate. My brother was in town to see my mother who is quite ill so we had to burn over two hours going to the budget location at SFO. He was only here for the weekend. Infuriating! We drove very slowly and were terrified that the car was going to have a flat and roll on the freeway. This was among the most unpleasant experiences I've had at a business in Marin. They are one mess up away from a big lawsuit. Of course when we got to Budget at the airport they handled it immediately without charging us for gas and gave us an equivalent vehicle. Go to another car rental agency. This place is the worst! We will never rent again from Budget.

    The "We Try Harder" motto is long gone. Dirty office with a hundred signs on the wall telling you of various charges if you don't do this and don't do that. Car was not washed when picked up. Windshield was filthy and washer light came on as I pulled away. Then a mile down the road, the tire pressure warning came on showing low tire pressure. Franchise owner was rude. Upon return, noticed the charge was about $32 more than my email total at booking. I looked at the invoice and he charged $32 for "fuel service fee". I filled up right down the street. He said, "oh" and he removed the fee. No apology. No sorry. No thank you. Nothing. Very rude owner. I said to him, since I could not say he did this on purpose or not, it would be a good idea for him to apologize for the $32 mistake. He did, but it was an afterthought. After reading all the 1 star comments, pretty sure this guy pulls the "$32 fuel service fee" all the time and hopes the customers don't notice it. Avis should revoke his franchise

    Summary: 1. Somewhat sketchy location. 2. At pick up, the cars were parked so closely together I had to climb through the passenger door to get to the driver's seat. 3. Multiple signs covering the plexiglass at the customer service counter saying "attention..." Red flag. 4. Manager is unreasonable/belligerent. More detail about my experience... When I returned the rental vehicle, the store manager inspected it and claimed that there was pet hair all over the car. There was some pet hair on the floor mat but certainly not all over the car and not enough in my opinion to warrant concern (see photos) He told me that I could either take the car to a nearby car wash and vacuum it or he would charge me an extra cleaning fee. I told him that I didn't agree and was not going to pay an extra fee. I followed him inside and asked for a receipt. The receipt he gave me had a baby seat/misc charge for $120. I asked him why he was charging me $120 for a baby seat. He said he wasn't and asked for the receipt back. He then printed a new receipt with a $50 baby seat/misc charge which he said was the cleaning fee. I asked him why he was charging me arbitrary fees and asked to speak with his manager. He told me he was the manager! He then gave me the toll free number for Avis reservations and pointed to one of a dozen signs on the plexiglass in front of the counter saying that he reserved the right to charge additional fees for any number of different situations. When I realized that this guy wasn't going to be helpful I called the Avis customer service line and waited on hold for 20mins before hanging up. I've rented from many Avis locations and this was by far the worst experience I've had. I will not rent from this Avis location again.

    The staff here is rude and they need customer service training. The car had trash in it from a previous renter as well.

It's right by the Porsche Marin dealership and the area is really safe. They have a great collection of cars and more importantly, a great staff. Henry was an absolute pleasure to work with. Stuck in a tough position with so many people needing rentals, Henry was straight forward with me and told me my options. Once we got ready to grab a car, he offered to explain how rentals with insurance works. I said yes and he explained how the at-fault party can cover a nicer car due to what I was driving and my line of work. I opted to just take my rental and move on, but that was service. Nothing about this process was stressful - completely unlike what I was expecting. Huge thanks to Henry who guided me through the difficult process of working with insurance. When it was time to grab a car, he made sure to get through the checks with me thoroughly and quickly. I was on the road in no-time! Thanks again to Henry, I'll definitely come to this location if I need a rental again.

I even checked it again around midnight, and when I woke up in the morning, I had already received a confirmation for my reservation. However, just two hours before my scheduled pickup time, I received an email informing me that they had no vehicles available. They claimed they had placed me first on their waitlist. I called the location, and the person who answered said they were helping another customer and would call me back shortly. Of course, they never did. My pickup time came and went, and they didn't even bother to contact me. Hours passed, and I still received no updates whatsoever. I was completely ignored--honestly, they just ghosted me. Because of this unprofessional handling of the situation, I ended up missing an important meeting. It's honestly unbelievable. The one time I truly needed a rental car, they completely dropped the ball. If you're looking to be disappointed, this is definitely a place where you can rent a car.

I was surprised that so early in the morning a gentlemen named Art answered the phone , he could hear the panic and discouragement in my voice .Art said he would rent to me with a cash deposit . Not only his willingness to help me was extremely appreciated , but also his amiable , friendly disposition in which I rarely see in customer service . Art asked how I was going to get to his car rental place and I replied I can wait for a friend to help .His response was where do you live ? I told him and he said I live there also And I can pick you up in 20 min and take you to get your rental .This extraordinary effort made my panic from my car wreck much less . Art picked me up at my house as promised , took me to his shop ; yet on the drive there , I had told him My husband died a few years ago and he was the one who took care of these kinds of things .Art began explaining what happens next from the car is Jeanne companies , Adjuster's etc etc .I cant tell you how much Art helped me .I even came to him when I wanted to buy a new car and he did indeed help me the whole process . It's not often that you find a service place that offers kindness , patience , a how to lecture on totaling a vehicle and buying another . Art took a chance on me with minimal Deposit and that is very rare .

I have been 'borrowing' cars from Art for years, so I have come to a place where I get along with him pretty well. That being said, he IS an oddball and not big on customer service. However, he has always been there for me - as long as it is after 9am and before 1pm :) If you are looking for service with a smile at all hours of the day, you might be thrown off, but I love being able to pop into the office and walk out with a car in five minutes. I don't have the patience for big rental companies and paperwork for days. These guys have treated me well, and I appreciate them for it.

I picked up a fantastic CPO 2025 Land Rover Defender, as tricked out a car as I've ever owned. The bonus is that I'll put those 'tricks' to regular use, so the vehicle will be eminently practical. Kyle was knowledgeable, detail oriented, and paid attention to what my needs were. My purchase was handled almost completely online as I lived 300 miles away. Very low pressure sales approach, and the same for Michael. He (Michael) 'got' what I was looking for in the car and my purchase experience with Marin Luxury Cars, and made sure the service techs prepped the car perfectly before it was shipped to where I live. I did my research before engaging this dealership in the first place, and I know concretely I received a fair price for what I was after. If you need a similar experience for a JLR product in NorCal, this is the place to go. I'm convinced this is how they treat everyone, and not just a one-off experience where I got lucky.
