Shame on me for not reading reviews...but it's Avis so figured the larger company would ensure standards are met. in short, These f'kers just 'gave away my car'. Here is what I posted on google reviews..i'm still furious. Read the reviews on this place. Unfortunately I did not. We checked out of our hotel this morning, hoping to have an excursion on the outskirts of Nashville. This car rental has been booked for at least six months with a credit card deposit. We had a late night so I couldn't make it at the original time 9 AM but I called the number listed and the person on the phone said yes no problem, and they hold it up to 20 something hours.. OK great. I arrived an hour and 20 minutes later (1 hour 20 minutes later) and the agent said 'sorry no cars not sure what to tell you; nothing I could do. ' She said they hold for 1 hour. So here we were after a beautiful vacation in Nashville with no option. She said 'try the airport'. I asked if they could shuttle me...nope. I mean literally no help other to wait in the small lobby on the off chance someone returned a car. So I went to the app, changed reservation to the airport...at a higher rate (no choice), had to pay $20 for an uber (keep in mind I ubered 10 minutes earlier from hotel to this location), and lost hours. I cannot say enough bad things about this place avoid it all costs they don't care. I plan to call corporate when I return home. Funny enough, they had a waitlist and called those people, but didn't call us. I repeat we did the right thing by calling earlier saying we were going to be late and asked if that was OK and that we were told yes. Agent who did nothing is in the attached picture. read more

Quality/Quantity - Overall a smooth transaction. Both times there was a customer in front of us. But again, it was overall a smooth and fairly quick process. Really enjoyed the Toyota Camry LE hybrid. So much that I am thinking of buying a hybrid for my daughter and/or wife, or both for their next cars. All our current cars are gas guzzlers. First experience getting 45-50 miles per gallon. A positive shock only buying 5 gallons of gas after driving 250 miles! Atmosphere - Small location. Consistent business. We knew if we did not get back early on Sunday, there would be a longer line. Yes, the line started to get long after we left. Service - Good. Not the friendliest folks (not rude or anything), but efficient and fairly quick. I rather have efficiency and speed over overly friendly people as we have places to go and see. Price - $300, reasonably priced for 6 days (really 5.5 days as we needed to return the car by 11:30am as they close early on Sundays). Includes $65 for adding an additional driver; $13 a day. Lack of communication. How does the reservation center not know what's available to rent? Why does the app show available cars at location, when there are NO CARS at this location? Hertz didn't have a problem and Enterprise knew what they had available. read more

Terrible experience. Had reservation for 12, gets there at ten not thinking much of it to be told they had no cars (ok that's on me being early) but told they wouldn't until 1pm (not ok when I needed the car to be at a spot three hours away at a certain time) Told I could check other spots - one had 0 cars airport said had cars. Goes there to be told i need customer service to change my reservation, calls CS to be told they have no cars. Calls orginal place back to be told no cars now till 4pm. So after all the run around plans all cancelled and out money I already spent for the plans I had intended to drive the car to. I made a reservation few hours before getting the car online, and I got a confirmation email. Went to that location to pick up the car. They told me they didn't have any car left. I showed the reservation confirmation, and they told me it didn't mean anything. Apparently 5/6 customers didn't return the car on time as they originally agreed on. That might be true but why none of two ladies working there didn't bother to send me an email or call me to let me know that might not have any car available? The car booked was different to what received, We were signed up to a lot of hidden extras including petrol!! the Avis team gave us the key and did not even walk us to the car to show set up as most companies I have used in the past. The car was uncomfortable and the entertainment system did not work, so therefore was unable to use the map or music; which was not helpful when on a road trip in a foreign country. We had to change the car however we had to drive to the Airport as the one we booked with did not have a replacement, despite Avis customer service telling us to go to the location; which then lost us half a day. The next car was what we had requested previously, comfortable, mod cons unfortunately we got a blow out which can not be helped however the car did not have the tools to be able to change the tyre which was a safety concern especially as we were two women. thankfully we had AAA cover but we had to cover the cost of the tyre. Communication with Customer service AVIS was diabolical and when reaching out to booking.com they were not helpful either stating they were a third company. At the end of the trip we were charged lots of additional extras. I would not use Avis or book through a third party again !!! read more

This was one of the worst experience of renting a car, I had all my documents and had booked in advance. But the time I came at the place there was no vehicles and was asked to wait for extra 4 hours. The person at the front Dustin was not accommodative at all. Please avoid this location at all cost. We had a very disappointing experience at the Avis location at 1803 Church Street, Nashville. Despite booking well in advance using our corporate account , the staff member (Dustin) at the counter was rude, dismissive, and completely unprofessional. We provided all required documentation, including proof of corporate affiliation, but the representative refused to honor the discount without valid explanation. He spoke condescendingly, questioned our eligibility in a very unhelpful tone, and ultimately charged us over $700 -- more than double what we were quoted online. When we tried to explain and show the correct credentials, we were ignored and brushed off. The lack of accountability and courtesy was shocking, especially from a major rental company like Avis. I strongly advise others to avoid this location -- and if you're using a corporate discount, be prepared for it to be denied arbitrarily regardless of how well-prepared you are. read more

Avis Customers Beware: As two Avis President Club and Corporate Members, we were treated like dirt at this location and would never rent from this location. We waited 20 minutes at the front desk for someone to show up, Dustin walked in and was abrasive, condescending and unapologetic for the wait time. He proceeded to ask us for our corporate id (which is on our profile). We have never been asked this before and he told us we would have to pay a higher rate of $50 more than our contracted rate and asked "if that was ok?". He then told us he would not rent to us. I'm sorry what? We booked an UBER to the airport location to rent another car but unfortunately we were late for our meeting. Avis really needs to intervene at this location and address Dustin's inability to treat loyal Avis customers as they should be treated. read more

I could write 3 pages regarding the bad experience I had at Avis, but I will keep it short and to the point. I reserved a SUV for a family vacation, but when I arrived the clerk stated they didn't have any. He told me the Mt. Juliet location had one so I volunteered to drive another Avis vehicle out there. Two hours later (due to Friday rush hour traffic) I arrive at the Mt. Juliet store. The clerk stated they didn't have the vehicle I reserved, that they were all kept at the airport. He gave me another Avis vehicle to drive to the airport. When I arrived at the airport, they stated they didn't have the vehicle I reserved because the clerks all upsold these types of vehicles earlier that day. I was given a van and told they would try to find something over the weekend. Fast forward to Monday: I'm in Florida still trying to find a SUV. They finally found one on Monday afternoon and I went to the airport to pick it up. Bottom line - I made a reservation to RESERVE a SUV, but one wasn't there. Avis apparently does not know how to honor a reservation, they simply know how to take a reservation (cue Seinfeld episode here). All of the staff were very nice and tried to help the best they could, and I greatly appreciate that fact. However, I planned everything about my vacation around the space needed in a SUV, so when that didn't happen it caused a lot of problems. I reserved and paid for my car rental from this location 3 months ahead of time. I needed the car to drive to Indianapolis after my Nashville vacation. Avis sent me numerous emails confirming my reservation prior to my planned pickup. On the day of my reservation I called an hour before the confirmed pickup time to tell them I was on my way and to make sure the car was ready. That's when I was told they had no cars (zero) available. I was told that a car would be available two hours later than my reserve time so I waited two hours and then called them again that's when I found out they still had no cars available. They ended up Finding me a car at the Nashville airport Avis instead of the one that I had reserved near my hotel. I had to spend 50 extra dollars to Uber to the airport and then since they had to modify my reservations my rate was double the amount I was charged on my previous reservation. The reason I had to modify my reservations was because they had no cars available and couldn't guarantee that they would even have a car available. The reason I had to modify the reservation was their fault. I will never rent from this place again and I advise you to beware of this rip off joint. They Provided the SUV that was reserved; unlike Hertz that just gives you whatever they happen to have on the lot at the time. Take a taxi from the airport to the Church Street office (or whatever office is convenient) a save the $100 airport fee. And you can still drop it off directly at the airport when you're done. Dont forget to fill up your tank before you return it; otherwise it is $10 per gallon to pay them to drive it to a gas station and 1816 Church St, Nashville it up. read more

Completely disappointed and frustrated. We are in town for 2 days and spent the first day of our trip trying to get a replacement car for our first FAILED car. This morning at 10:00a as we were getting ready to venture out our car would not turn on. The car said it needed to have an anti-theft code. HOURS and MANY phone calls later my husband was finally able to get a hold of someone. They said they would send someone out to jump the car. AGAIN, hours later nobody had showed up. When the person finally got here they tried jumping the car and of course, no change. Again, back to phone call after phone call. Finally they said a tow truck was on its way. AGAIN, hours later the tow truck finally showed up. Back to the phones. Avis said they were sending a vehicle to pick up my husband so he could pick up another vehicle from them. First text said a driver was on his way and THEN my husband received a text saying that the ride was canceled. BACK TO THE PHONES. Driver 2 was sent out by Avis. Want to guess what happened? He received a text that the driver canceled. It's 7:00p and we still do not have a car. Do you guys treat all of your customers this poorly or did we just get lucky?!?! Terrible experience. Very disorganized - and had to wait for an hour before I could be told about what was happening with the car we had booked which was not available. Was given a car that was dirty and stank like an ashtray! My 6 yo and 9 yo children got out smelling like they had been smoking a pack a day. Agent did not read the details of the booking information and tried to charge taxes on top of taxes. While the staff remained very friendly, if you you're expecting a smooth pick up and to get the car you booked - this branch is not the one to deliver on simple booking and pick up of a hire car. read more

This was the worst experience that I have ever had in my life. It all started with the customer service that day was HORRIBLE! The girl at the front counter was not friendly and very rude during the contract signing for the rental. In addition, once I signed everything she gave me the key, but did not tell which car it belonged to at all. I suppose I was supposed to guess or hit the alarm to figure it out. After finding which car it was, then I proceeded to drive off the lot to find out that once a block down the street the hazard light comes on and says, "Transmission Fault". I heard noises that were obviously alarming and proceeded to turn around and head back to the rental location. Upon pulling back up a man outside yelled, "What's wrong?" He knew that there was something wrong with this car. I walked back inside to find that same girl sitting down on the customer side of the office on her phone. I told her that there is something wrong with that car that was given to me and that it was a liability. She did NOT apologize and actually said a few things that confirmed that she was aware that there was an issue with the car given to me which I find alarming. Since, I work in the law field I know that given a faulty car to client is a liability case waiting to happen. I have mutual friends who died in faulty rental car crashes. The girl at the front desk did not apologize nor offer an upgrade for such a grave mistake. She seemed to be bothered nonetheless about me even coming back. She gave me another car and once again gave me the key, but did not tell me which car it belonged to once again. This has to be the worst experience in the history of my 28 yrs on this Earth. I came into town from far away on a family emergency since my grandmother died that day and I the last thing I expected was to simply go and get a rental car and be treated in such a disrespectful way. When I protested, the woman (Laurie, if I recall correctly), was rude and dismissive, with a take it or leave it attitude.
