This is a follow up to my last review. Guys, you want to avoid these guys. I filed a complaint with Budget based upon THREE holds of $250.00 being placed on my card, an ADDITIONAL $211.40 being charged AFTER I left the office. THEN I RECEIVED A NEW CHARGE FOR 76.41!!!! I spoke to their representative (that would be too long a story) who agreed she saw no reason for additional charge. I finally had to call my bank to dispute the charge and block Budget from any future charges. I have filed a complaint with the NY Attorney General's office and the FTC (Federal Trade Commission). In my opinion, this is a company to avoid. read more

Always friendly staff, reliable clean assortment of cars and fair pricing. Just make sure you check out the car before you leave because my last one despite being very clean had an odor of cigarettes which I should not have taken. Upon return the nice gentleman at the counter apologized and said next time we could have put you into a different car which I appreciated. I called in because i was having issues with my reservation. Was greeted by Ceasar phone initially was very helpful. After giving in my credit card info and address he was having the same issues and was rushing us off the phone. Then all of a sudden he forward us to a hotel extension, so he basically hung up on us while we were talking. I git so frustrated i cancelled my reservation and got a refund. If you don't know how to do your job don't hang up on people. read more

AVIS!!! Help your people please... This would have been a 2 star review if it wasn't for how good the people were. Renting a car can be a horrible experience for so many reasons but my pick up and return only made me feel compassion for the person behind the counter. The Pick Up. There was a line of 3 ahead of me, the solo man behind the counter acknowledged every person there including the ones that walked in after me and apologized for the wait while he helped the customers at the front. Seems that there was a problem with the pricing and he was furiously typing away at the computer as he was on the line with who I assumed were Avis Corporate people. When it was clear that he couldn't help that customer until more information was available, he started working through the next customers. Finally when it was my turn, he was polite worked diligently and showed professionalism throughout the entire transaction. The BAD part was the process! Dozens of questions, extended time waiting for the DOT MATRIX printer to spit out pages of agreements and the lot was far away from the office itself. The Return. Similar to the pick up, they were busy, the attendant was very professional, the process was slightly shorter but the wait was long because the guy had to go ALL the way out to the car to verify the mileage and other details. I WILL go back here again since it's so conveniently close to the Carle Place LIRR station, but if someone from AVIS is reading this, please heed my words and improve your stanky process of car rentals or at least give your guys some back. read more

I wouldn't know. They closed early. I suppose they might have great customer service, but it seems to me that if the system allows me to make a 4pm reservation, and the office is completely locked and dark at 4pm when I arrived, without calling me, that's pretty awful service. I was able to call Avis and rebook for another car at LaGuardia airport, which involved paying for another LIRR train and leaving 3 hours later. At that office, the manager was extremely rude about honoring my original price, and gave me a terrible van because "that was all they had" which did not have bluetooth and was very rickety to drive, and charged me full price. Customer service gave me confirmation that they would refund me the difference, but it has now been 5 weeks and I still have yet to see that refund, despite many emails and phone conversations. Came here Sunday morning and needed a rental car for a day. Ken was in the back garage so I walked backed there and he had me pick out a car to speed up the process. After about a 10min wait, he was able to get me out onto the road. Very competitive rates and opened until 4pm on Sunday. read more

I reserved a midsize car, and told by the employee that Budget designates the Toyota Corolla as a mid size car. Being 6'5" the Corolla was completely inadequate, with no other cars available I left without a rental. We had rented a car to pick up in late afternoon on the Friday after Thanksgiving. We were coming in from out of town by train. It took us 45 minutes to get a taxi to come pick us up at the Carle Place train station. While waiting we tried to call Avis to let them know we were on the way, and maybe get a recommendation of a more reliable taxi service. But never got an answer even with several calls. We finally arrived at 5 minutes after 6. We saw an employee in an Avis uniform walk out, he walked right past us unloading our luggage from the taxi. We then went in and found that the office closed, even though it said right on the door that it was open till 8 on Fridays. The people at the Holiday Inn front desk (the office is inside the Holiday Inn) were totally unhelpful, saying "they just rent from us" and not even knowing if they were gone for the day or just stepped out. Finally we called the Avis national people who told us tatthe office had closed at 6 due to the holiday, which they had not told us when we made the reservation. Evidently the guy we saw in the parking lot was the only employee, leaving for the day! Ugh. So not only had he not thought to ask whether we were his customers (we were at the Avis entrance, not the front entrance of the hotel, and he knew he had customers coming at 5:30 that had not arrived) but he had not been picking up the phone during time he was supposed to be working prior to closing. We pleaded with Avis national to send us a car from another location because we were stranded, and they refused to. They also blamed us because 4 pm was listed as our arrival time in their computer, even though my assistant had talked to the Avis person at this location earlier in the day (he answered the phone then!) and told him we would be arriving at 5:30. We will never use Avis again!!! Also the front office staff at the Holiday Inn would not lift a finger to help us either. read more
