I gave these movers two chances. After the first move, when my belongings were placed in storage, I later discovered items were missing. The first red flag came during the second move when a mover asked whether I had taken anything out of storage; I had not and was unaware items were already gone. I am now trying to replace those items. A newly purchased headboard was returned with noticeable paint damage. The contract also listed the wrong move date, resulting in a nearly five-hour wait on moving day for an interstate move. The drivers provided incorrect Zelle information; because the funds could not be transferred due to the error, my bank was able to unfreeze and send payment correctly. When I contacted the company about the missing items, I was met with defensiveness rather than assistance, despite promptly resolving the payment issue caused by their drivers. I do not recommend these movers, as there was no meaningful effort to address lost or damaged items. read more

I HIGHLY recommend using Aviv movers! I moved out of a 1st floor Somerville apartment to a 4th floor walk up apartment in the North End Boston. The entire move took 4 hours start to finish. The 3 movers were so hardworking, careful with my belongings, knowledgeable on how to maneuver the tight staircase, and best of all very nice to be around all morning. They took apart and then reassembled my IKEA bed so quickly. They wrapped my dresser in moving blankets to ensure it didn't scratch. I had all my items packed so I didn't utilize their packing services but I can assume they would be great at that too. The final time / price was right in line with the original quote I received. Recently moved (2 days ago) and Aviv movers took (stole) a few items and ruined my 1300 dollar entertainment center by using the drill they borrowed from me , Dewalt cordless one. I never got it back and the entertainment center has 2 big holes because they didn't know what they were doing. Now I can't get the shelf up that connects the unit together. Asked for a quote, got a quote. Called back after seeing Groupon offer, asked if could be applied-it could, confirmed by manager. I said I'd call back to schedule, instead got 5 follow up calls in less than 2 weeks asking if I was ready etc. Called today to schedule a move-surprise the hourly rate offered was a "mistake" and they can't do that low..told them it's not fair or honest, but they didn't really have much to say. It's a $100+ mistake they should be honoring but obviously don't want to deal with. Enter move in day: they're suppose to be here 12-3, despite the fact that I originally had an earlier time frame. Called again, guy tells me they have early jobs so should be done. 12pm comes, movers call to tell me they're in a town 30-45min away, starting a job and asks if "that's ok" no it is not "ok", and why you even bother calling to ask instead of idk maybe working ? I call the office and tell them..surprise surprise the receptionist answering the phone says "oh that's weird, they were suppose to be at that job for 8a, idk I'll call you back" 30min later..no call back. I call to check on the status and again the receptionist gives me more crap, "oh I tried to call and let you know they'll be there by 2" I didn't get a missed call or voicemail, so asked what number she called. She barely mustered up "508, Ummm the one ending in 70? "5 min later finally she told me the number she "called", which was a blatant lie. 2pm movers show up, 3:30 they're still in my apt, stuff not on the truck. Why? Who knows..was I not suppose to organize and pack everything ahead of time, bring them luggage carts for ease, and hold the elevator so they don't wait for it? 4:30 they show up to my new place, half of the stuff was improperly wrapped (by them), like what idiot thinks to put a rolling massage pad on a glass coffee table? And then leave in the hallway. Left within 20min. My stuff also smells like weed now, because they were smoking in the truck. Garbage Zero regard for customers, just want the money. Shame, was thinking would be nice to support a fellow Jewish company as a Jew, but no, just another company that makes Jews look bad). I have used these movers before, and for storage of my items while I was in between addresses and then again when I was out of the country. When I recently returned from abroad, a big surprise was waiting for me. My landlord had accepted delivery of my items, so it took a few weeks before I returned to find out Aviv had included someone else's belongings. After sorting through the items I found quite a bit of his stuff. Big heavy furnishings, king mattress and boxspring, heavy boxes, dressers, rugs, athletic equipment, television, mirror, and more. It appears Aviv was storing both of our stuff in one unit and charging each of us full price for a separate individual unit. Not only that, but they also charged me to store, load, move, and unload this other person's stuff. Worse still, I had to pay storage on the items that weren't even mine at my new place. I contacted the original owner (his name was attached to a bag tag) and he called Aviv. Then Aviv asked me not to speak with the owner of the other belongings, presumably so that they could continue to charge him storage fees even though his stuff was now at my new home. Then Aviv refused to answer my emails asking for a partial refund to cover the moving costs I had incurred for those things that weren't even mine to begin with. At the time of this writing, Aviv would only speak with my landlord, saying they would come forthwith to pick up the items, all while avoiding me so as not to have to address a refund. Update: 5/21/21 Aviv movers now threatened to call the police on me to initiate a criminal complaint because of my "theft" of the items they wrongly delivered to my home. read more

My elderly aunt hired Aviv to help her move to another assisted living home. While they were polite and helpful the day of, they lost several small parts that are necessary to put things back together and mishandled her expensive geriatric recliner chair which she needs and uses often. The chair was working the day before the move because I was there helping her pack, so it was definitely the move that broke it. She called her health insurance company and they inspected it but said that they couldn't replace it and that it was the way that the movers had stored the chair and the cord associated with it. She called them up and they said they would send her a claim form for these items but were half listening and never sent the forms. I live out of state but work to take care of much of her needs from afar. hence this review. It's been a about a month and no resolve. I hope they can take care of this. She deserves it. I cannot thank or recommend AVIV Moving and Storage enough. They handled our move from Boston MA to Austin TX in November 2020 and provided excellent service at every step of the way. We were supported by Relocation Specialist Yaniv Krolewicz in Boston who responded quickly and professionally to any of our questions or concerns. Both the moving crew who handled the pick up and the team who delivered our furniture in Austin, TX arrived on time; worked efficiently; and were happy to pack/unpack, disassemble and reassemble anything we asked. We had no losses or damage to any of our three-bedroom house property which was incredible. And the cost was very economical in comparison to the other four quotes received. They were easily the most inexpensive movers of the 9 or 10 I queried. As a result, I didn't look for perfection. We used them twice and the first time they left some pretty good gashes in the wood with the piano on the first move. They sent one too few movers. The second time they did much better. They were eager to please and were really careful when they picked things up and set them down. A 10 hour move and they were steady, hard workers. Very compliant, listened well, asked a lot of questions and willing to do things like set up furniture. When they packed something with parts they would tape them together and put the screws and nuts into a bag and tape them on. Just very thorough. So glad we didn't go with a more expensive mover. They were fair with material charges and didn't try to nickle and dime us. Two Negatives: This was a COVID move and one of the movers didn't have his nose covered the whole time. I wish they were more upfront about needing to go out for lunch. I expected to pay about 75 dollars for lunch but that wasn't discussed in the quote. And I didn't like paying for them to actually go get the lunch. I just think all of that should be arranged ahead of time. I would've happily gone and provided their food of choice. I usually refrain from giving reviews when I am not satisfied with a company's services or products, and I almost always rave about them when I like their outcomes. With that said, I feel like this is my duty to warn others about these crooks, to say put it nicely. I hired Aviv for what was to be a very quick job. I was moving from a two-bedroom apartment to my new home less than 4 miles away. During our initial talk, they waited until after I paid my deposit to then ask me to pay the remaining balance in cash to avoid a 5% surcharge. During a follow up call, I was then told to buy the "GUYS" lunch and "lunch" would cost $50 per person. I mean, just tell me to tip the guys. That should have been all the red flags that I needed to back away, but no, my stubborn self wanted to proceed anyway. Then came my horrific experience. The move was to take place on a Sunday. Soon after the guys showed up, one of them wanted to use the restroom, a tactic that I observed later used by most movers to add time to their hourly rates. The guy was in the restroom for nearly 20 minutes while the other two basically did nothing but surveying the pieces that needed to be moved. Let me add that I had already packed and taped everything except for a small dining table that I was unsure if I needed to remove the legs or not and something that should have taken less than 3 minutes to do. The pieces to be moved consisted of: - A queen bedroom set (headboard, footboard, mattress and rails already taken apart) along with its matching chest, dresser and nightstand, a small 36-inch-wide computer desk, two file cabinets. - A full bedroom set (headboard, footboard, mattress and rails already taken apart) along with its matching entertainment chest and nightstand. - A sofa, love seat and accompanying coffee tables (2). - 6 mediums boxes (even though we agreed on 20). I had already moved everything myself throughout the previous week. - An entertainment center with two TV's (46'' and 55") - A small 7 cubic inch freezer. - A 65" dining table, matching server and two chairs (I had already moved the remaining 4 chairs). That was it! Well, the so-called "professionals guys" proceeded to move my expensive furniture without covering or protecting them in any way while I was in my bedroom's ensuite gathering a few loose items to take to my car. When I heard a commotion outside my entry door, I ran out to find these "professionals" struggling with the dining table that could have easily fit the, let me add WIDE, staircase had they taken all but 3 minutes to remove the legs or better yet, collapse the rectangular table into a round one. They then asked me if I had a screwdriver (really people) before one of them ran outside to get one. My table was already all scratched up when I asked them why they could not cover them with some padding. Their clever answer was of course that I needed to pay more. "They will be covered when they get to the truck, but you have to pay extra for them to be protected beforehand". My wife and I, fumed at this point, asked for the guy in charge who in turn called his "Manager", another "GUY" with an attitude. Let me tell you people, the donkey on the other line had the nerves to ask me if I spoke English and if I understood what he was saying (he could barely speak). I told him that it was their job to guarantee that my furniture would be moved intact and that they needed to be protected. "Oh no," he replied, "that would cost you extra." To add insult to injury, he boasted that I needed to buy extra insurance to cover damages or they would bring everything back upstairs. I called his bluff and they proceeded to bring what they had already moved back to the apartment. It was 4th of July weekend. Needless to say that we were very upset and we then called another mover (the other one referred by Home Advisor) that did the job on short notice. PLEASE STAY AWAY AT ALL COSTS! read more

After seeing my review, they finally reached out to me to attempt to make things right but only if I removed or updated my review. I told them I would accept a refund of the extra hour and they said that once I removed the review they would send me a check. TL;DR: Quoted for a long distance move at a great price, and in the end, I was thrilled that the total price came in under the estimate. The move was timely and nothing damaged. I can certainly recommend Aviv after my small haul with them; I'd characterize it as straightforward, no frills, and efficient. When I was reading reviews I always liked to hear the full story, though, so if you want to know more: I went with Aviv for my interstate move (MA to OH) because they were responsive when I needed a quote and beat every other quoted price by a mile. I was a little apprehensive -- who wouldn't be, once you pour over all the thousands of reviews for different moving companies, where it's all five- or one-star reviews depending on whether someone's stuff got damaged in transit -- especially given the price. But their pricing was transparent, too. I didn't have anything particularly special or valuable or fragile, and I had a small haul estimated at their minimum of 250 cu. ft., so I really was not looking to pay a ton. In any case, the 3 movers showed up on time, were respectful, and worked efficiently, without complaint. They created a clear inventory for me and finished quickly. They did, however, repackage many of my smaller boxes into large boxes, FYI. They told me that my stuff was guaranteed to arrive within 14 business days, so I was shocked when one week later (on July 4 no less!) they called to let me know they'd be arriving that evening. I was nervous to see whether anything had been damaged or lost in the truck, but happily, everything was there and in one piece. (One box was missing at the end, but it turned out to just have been mislabeled on the inventory and I found it the next day.) The two movers were very respectful and nice. They weren't the most careful but it was fine. They arrived and said they were told by management to ask me for payment in full UP FRONT (cash only, too), which makes no sense and just sounds sketchy. Basically, I just refused to do that until I had checked off every item on the inventory, and I made sure that I got a receipt. With a little insistence on my part, ultimately everything went smoothly in a way that I was comfortable with. The only drawbacks: (1) the truck. As they warned me, it's big. Too big, apparently, to turn into my apartment's driveway in Cambridge, because cars were parked adjacent to the driveway entrance on the street. And on unloading, they backed the truck into my driveway but didn't maneuver it in 100% on the pavement. It had rained recently so the ground was wet and their giant truck's wheels sank into the grass. They couldn't get it out and asked me if I had any wood planks just lying around. Well, wood planks aren't exactly something you can count on anyone having, but luckily I found some stowed away in my new place's garage. So after a LOT of backing up and spinning the wheels and trying to get out (you can imagine the constant beeping, reverberating through my new neighborhood), they finally pulled out of the grass, leaving me with muddy wood planks and a GIANT gash through my lawn. One of the movers was apologetic and tried to fix it with a shovel, but it was well beyond being fixed with a shovel. Oh well. What matters is that I got all my stuff, and paid a great price for my long distance move. read more

I was able to schedule them for a next day move which was easy and surprisingly a fair price, but when they came the next day I received a call 20 min before they were going to be at my old place but the issue was that it was still 3 hours earlier than I had booked them. I booked them at a later time for a reason and had to frantically drop everything and meet them at my old place with only 20 min to spare (which they then seemed annoyed about). They were able to move everything easily and quickly but communicating between me and the movers was incredibly tricky. They gave me a ride with my belongings to my new place which was sweet, but while moving everything one of the employees was not wearing his mask while in close proximity with me. Thankfully I have been very careful and have been getting tested frequently and always wear my mask but it made me feel incredibly uncomfortable and unsafe. There was no reason to be taking off your mask especially when working closely with clients. It does not only put you at danger for catching Covid, but also everyone around you. read more

I am a wily veteran of the Boston moving circuit. Moving sucks. And hiring movers is a crap shoot. I've come to expect the least, frankly. My husband and I had a pretty epic move recently. We moved to suburbia and to boot had to store 2/3 of our things in a storage space. So we had tons of boxes and furniture that had to correctly find its way to the right location. HOWEVER, these movers were SO fast and professional-- the tetris-ness of how they assembled our ton of stuff in the storage space astounded me. And they accomplished this feat in just over 3 hours (plus arriving early at our door!). And the price was about half of that of the rather incompetent movers that completed a far less complicated move for us 2 years earlier!! This company is terrific and I would call them again. Aviv was a lifesaver who helped us with our cross country move with only 3 hours notice after our original movers (CMS companies/Relocation coordinates) failed to show up and ghosted us the morning of our move. I do feel compelled to put my thoughts out there about this moving company, and I do hate giving bad reviews but here it is. Yaniv was the salesperson who sold me the contract and when I asked him if he could get my stuff there by "x" date he said that it wasn't a problem. I looked at other vendors and it's true that Aviv's prices are below the competition, so I went with them. They would later call and say that my stuff will most likely arrive 7 to 14 days AFTER the range of dates I gave them. I assume Yaniv has been doing this for some time and that he understands the logistics and timing of a cross country move, and yet falsely advertised that my things could in fact arrive on time. To make matters worse, they call me saying that they will arrive between 9am to 12pm on my first day of work. My first day at work. Can their timing be worse? This placed undue burden on me, my boss, and of course, the driver who was handling my things. The driver had tried his very best to accommodate to my schedule, so props to him. Yaniv does not give a flying shit about your schedule, he only wants to win your business. I told him that if my stuff doesn't come on time, we'd have issues, because I cannot take time off work so easily on my first work. You may ask, but Yaniv has no control over the schedule because he's not driving? No. Yaniv should have never sold me the contract if he couldn't take his customer's deadline seriously. This shitshow that I experienced rests on him and him alone. So I rush back to my residence in the middle of work, the driver is already fuming because I was late and said he needed to leave if I didn't arrive soon. Understandable. the driver now says that Aviv requires me to pay in cash or cashiers check. I had paid the first half with a credit card prior to arriving to CA, and told in advanced I was going to pay with a credit card when the movers finished the jov, no issues were brought forth to me. I get a call from Yaniv saying that I needed to prepare cash or a cashiers check and that " he thought he already told me this." No you didn't Yaniv, you said nothing of the sort. You don't give a shit about your customers, only yourself. I rush to the bank and get money from the ATM. My mother had to oversee the move because I couldn't get out of work for too long. My mother got pulled into this mess. Now I was fuming. Lesson from all this: Respect your customers deadlines and do honest business. This is one example where not honoring the deadline had caused trouble from multiple parties. The only reason Yaniv and this Company's name isn't being slathered all over the Better Business Bureau is because at the end of the day, my stuff arrived to CA safely and intact. In retrospect, things could have gone worse. And by the way, because of this lateness, I spent over $600 on temporary housing, so adding $600 to the overall moving costs actually made Aviv the most expensive movers of the ones I researched. Not worth it folks, find another mover who will respect your timing and understand their logistics like the back of their hands. read more

We moved last Friday and we picked this company because it was recommended by a friend who had previously used it. We had called them for a quote and as the price was reasonable, we chose them to do our move. Our estimate to complete the task was 3 hours and we chose to start on Friday morning. They arrived half an hour late but it was reasonable as it was easy to get lost in our condo complex. Once they arrived, the lead person surveyed our place such that they would know what needed to be moved. They parked their truck at the front door and their 3 person crew got to work. Our delicate items such as our large aquarium and pricey wood furniture got extra attention and they managed to wrap them neatly with padding. These arrived at our new place safely. We brought a mattress cover from them for our mattress as we didn't have our own and our mattress arrived safely too. We didn't need to use their boxes as our smaller items were already boxed. In the end, the total time for the move calculated from when they first arrived was 2 hours. Since the minimum time charged is 3 hours, we were fine with that. read more

Replying to the owners comment: Wow could you BS some more ???? Yes pick was on December 1st.. however delivery was on the 5th of December super quick I'll give you five star for that! However we were told that it could take up to 14 days, and we SPECIFICALLY REQUESTED that delivery happened on either a weekend or during the weekday at night because my husband works and I don't drive and the storage unit is 40 minutes away from where we are staying. My husband and I arrived to Virginia Friday the 2nd and my husband had to leave to Michigan on Sunday for a conference and wasn't coming back till Thursday. So we were shocked that my husband got a phone call Sunday night saying the delivery will be Monday morning !!!!!! UM WHAT?? what happened to calling in advance?? What happened to scheduling on a weekend or a weekday night time?? Keep in mind THEY KNEW that my husband was not going to be in town for this! So because I'm pregnant and I done drive my husband told his cousin who doesn't even have a car and had to take a $50 Uber EACH WAY to haymarket,VA to meet with them and PAY THEM IN CASH as they requested... Fast forward to December 17th when we actually got a chance to go to the storage unit to see our stuff and BAM the shocking filthy mattress and sofa just laying there uncovered.. as for the blanket covers that were on the gray chest dresser these are the ones we own and we payed for PRIOR to this move (so we bought them separately from a diff moving company) and I told the owner this I don't know why is lying about it now!!! And the fact that he's lying about the delivery date because I only posted the review on the 17th the day we actually got to see our stuff ... oh and "one hour after delivery" REALLLY????? That is not what happened at all.. we called you guys right away frustrated when we saw our stuff then when whoever talked to us said you will look into it on Monday I posted the review after! So you didn't respond "right away" !! So when we got the phone call on Monday we talk to the supervisor and explained everything again then he asked okay how can we fix this issue.. I was like I dunno? A full refund maybe to get a new mattress ? Then he said that it's unreasonable and they are willing to pay for our mattress to be professionally cleaned.. (I had no idea there's such a thing called mattress cleaning!) so I was like oh okay that actually not a bad idea we'll look into it and get back to you but it won't be done until we move to our house! So everything was fine after the phone call and we both agreed to the solution (except they didn't offer anything for the sofa!) anywho.. fast forward to the weekend we were in NYC (jan12-15) and we got the bad phone call yelling at us and telling us they are closing our case because of a bad review we wrote on the hotel we were staying at in NYC ... besides that being none of their business I had NO idea, my husband didn't tell me that they called about a week ago asking us to remove the post since we came to terms about a solution.. so it made for them to get soooo angry at us and I had no idea why! Regardless it wasn't their business anyways and why would I remove the review before you fixing my issue? We already told you we will once we move our stuff into our house and get the mattress cleaned .. but no they have no patience! And we still haven't moved to our house yet so we don't know what more surprises/missing things/broken things there are in there. I will do another update once we move! Also we moved 5 times in Boston with 5 different moving companies and WE NEVER dealt with issues like this nor have we dealt with such disrespectful , lying owners... and for what? Why all this lying ? You want to save your business?? Save it the right way instead of sending your employees to me everywhere here and on Facebook messaging me and telling me how aviv has 20 year experience and blablabla! I'll admit, that after reading the 1 review here and seeing some less than stellar reviews on their BBB listing, I was hesitant to go with this company. And since they were CONSIDERABLY less expensive than all the other quotes I got, I kept hearing a voice in my head saying 'If its too good to be true, then it probably isn't true' But due to the time crunch & the limited availability of the other companies I was considering, it turned out to be a blessing in disguise. They sent over 4 guys and 1 truck @ precisely the time quoted and we were out of our apartment in less than 90min. Then moved into the new home in less than an hour. Very well mannered, professional, efficient, and friendly. Even when we offered coffee & donuts, they politely declined saying that they preferred to stick to the routine & get the job done. I had never used professional movers before, but am glad I did. I would use them again. FWIW: This was a local, same day, weekday move with properties that were within less than 10 miles. read more

Terrible experience with them. I was told it would be a 5-6 hour job but it took 10 hours (even though I itemized everything in the move). They took a 1.25 hour break and told me it was only 30 minutes. Two of the three didn't speak good English which led to boxes being placed in the wrong rooms/floors. Plus, they ran out of wrapping blankets and had to use plastic which they of course charged us for. Then their management wouldn't budge in negotiating the final price after I explained all of this, which ended up being twice what I expected. I couldn't have had a worse experience. We moved from Boston to NC and the packers were very friendly and caring in loading our stuff. Although the delivery was delayed due to the nature of the service, however the manager genuinely sends the check for the late delivery credits. Also, I have recommended them to my friends and the delivery was on time and they are happy with their service. Also, we had requested quotes from 2-3 vendors and they were the best. read more

After receiving 5 other quotes, I chose this company because the price was reasonable. They showed up exactly on time, and helped me wrap and pack last minute stuff . I had the team of Paul , Charlie and Ethan and they couldn't have been better. They were fast, courteous and their packing, not only into the truck but out of it into the storage unit was exceptional.... like they were masters at Tetris! Their estimate was spot on and they took exactly as long as the original estimate. Unfortunately I hadn't planned on the extra fees for packing tape and boxes, so be smart and pick this stuff up at Home Depot ahead of time because HD's prices are lower. Horrible experience with these amateurs. When you pay a premium price, you expect premium results. Unfortunately that wasn't the case with Aviv. They completely destroyed my desk, broke part of my dresser, and lost the screws to the mirror that attached to my dresser, thus rendering it useless. One mover even had the audacity to bark multiple requests for a glass of water while he was on the phone after destroying my furniture...get your own fucking glass of water you dip-shit. After the move they promised a foreman would come by and make repairs to my dresser and attach the mirror to the dresser...two weeks later and multiple follow up calls on his status still and still no results. Luckily I paid for the premium insurance at the outset of the move, so I should be covered, but with this company who knows. TL;DR: Worst movers possible, look elsewhere. read more
