Disclaimer -- we didn't end up moving with Aviv due to last minute change to plans, so this review only covers coordination prior to moving. Aviv movers (and Yaniv specifically) were a pleasure to coordinate with. Their pricing was very transparent and they were more than willing to work with us during the quote phase to get us something that accurately reflected our uncertain and consistently changing move amount. We knew we wanted to sell some furniture prior to moving, but didn't know how much we could sell before our move two weeks later. Yaniv worked with us to provide us some tiers to aim for based on cubic feet, as well as priced out moving to several different locations (storage units, etc). Yaniv responded promptly to all communication over several weeks, professionally and with kindness. Unfortunately, we ended up selling almost all of our furniture and dropped below Aviv's 400 cuft long distance moving threshold. On a Saturday and with just 48 hours before our scheduled move date, we emailed Yaniv and explained that we had to cancel our scheduled move, and understood we would have to surrender our $500 security deposit. Not only did Yaniv and the Aviv team understand our situation and respond professionally and with kindness, they offered to refund us $250 of the $500 deposit due to the complexity of the situation. This was above and beyond and I mention it not to say this is their typical standard that you should count on, but because I want you to understand how great their customer service is. We're incredibly impressed with Aviv, and should we need to move from the New England area any time again, we know who we will be calling. These people are a joke. I never post on these sites, but this experience was so epically terrible it needed to be shared. First the damage to my furniture - no less than three piece were chipped, cracked or ripped by these guys. I had done a considerable amount of moving myself and only needed them to move some of the larger pieces... not only did they ruin multiple pieces of my furniture but they decided to remove all the protective covering (read raggedy blankets) before bringing up the stairs, which caused considerable damage to the stairwell. The dents, chips, stuffs and holes they put in the walls are too many to count. Next we had painters in the same day of the move, these people ended up almost getting into a fist fight with the painters, so they had to leave and that pushed them back which cost me more money. On top of this these people apparently were making passes at my mother-in-law who stayed behind to let them in and follow them to the new apartment. Perhaps that is why they charged me triple from the original quote to move my furniture 5 blocks in Boston. Ive called perhaps 10 times looking to speak to a manager and apparently he is the busiest human being on the planet because not once has he returned my call. They also have what is called a maintenance guy, not sure what he does, but he is also impossible to reach. Stay away from this place whatever you do, with any luck they will soon be out of business and no one else will have as horrible an experience as I did. read more

I see the mixed reviews on line, and as with anything else, people can have different experiences. I usually don't have time to write reviews, but felt it was deserved. I was recommended Aviv by one of my best friends, who has passed along their name to numerous friends whom all have had positive experiences. Ours was great, especially give the rainy day. We had a lot to move and it took all day, but the team of Jose, Manuel, Jesus and Jacob was fantastic. My parents were even amazed at how hard working they all were. The team foreman was relentless in getting the job done, and they did at 11pm. There was a large armoire we had to get a crane to move out of our Beacon Hill townhome and I was ready to give up trying to get it into our new home, as it wouldn't fit through our daughter's bedroom door. Putting all of our heads together, we got it in through another doorway via a shared Jack & Jill bath. There was a scratch on a door jamb from our initial attempts I will have to get fixed but it was a HELL of a lot cheaper than hiring another crane and I was beyond ecstatic he didn't give up!! He saved me a couple thousand dollars. I don't plan on moving anytime soon but if I do, I plan on using Aviv again. Our last move we had hired Gentle Giant and they were great, but 3 times the price! read more

This is the second time I've used Aviv for a local move and am once again very pleased with the experience. The first two Boston area companies I tried were mediocre to abysmal. These guys were great: 1. They arrived on time--I had an 8-10 am arrival slot and they showed up right at 8 2. Good attitudes and polite, worked the whole time; asked me where I wanted things to go and were also willing to move things if I changed my mind (within reason, of course) 3. Great at navigating narrow Somerville streets (I was honestly worried about the truck, but they drove it skillfully) 4. Fast--I had done most of the moving of boxes before hand, so it was primarily furniture that I was having them move. They wrapped the furniture and carried it out carefully and efficiently 5. Professional--a small piece of my sofa was misplaced during the move. They told me they thought it was back at my old place. I told them I would look, and they said if I didn't find it to call the office. I went to look and it wasn't there. A few minutes later I got a call that they found the piece in the truck (it was placed in a weird location) and they brought it back for me I would highly recommend Aviv to anyone making a local move. read more

I recently had to do the dreaded Sept 1st move in Boston and Aviv made the process quick and easy. I had booked our appointment a month or so in advance but due to some last minute changes I had to adjust the date and time of the appointment. Aviv was quick to find a solution to accommodate our schedule change (and I really mean quick, emails and calls are always responded to within a day, if not the hour). When the day came, the movers arrived on the earlier side of our 3 hour window and got to work. It was 7pm, and their fourth move of the day, and they still were incredibly nice and upbeat. By the time they finished moving our things into the new place it was already midnight and they were still offering to help set things up. And in the end when it was time to settle up, there were no surprises with the final cost/rate. The only hiccup was that a lamp of ours was damaged during the move, which is a small casualty considering the number of mirrors and glassware we had. However because of the basic insurance charge that's included, Aviv was able to refund me the price of the lamp so we could replace it. Although I never want to move again... Movers showed up 20 minutes early, prior to the two hour estimate window, which I had no problem with! (I had booked about 5 weeks in advance, I believe). I called a couple days in advance of the move to just go over some points such as skinny driveway, staircase, etc...We agreed to add a worker (four total) and although it cost $30 more per hour, it was well worth it due to the saved time. They had a good leader and worked very hard. A couch was hoisted down from my 3rd floor apt flawlessly. They negotiated some tough staircase switchbacks very carefully with heavy, cumbersome furniture. They did not take a break at all until most of the furniture and boxes were on the truck, I wouldn't have had a problem if they did. As far as the load off, which was much easier, they paid attention to the markings on the boxes indicating which room they belonged in. I'm still unpacking, so far the only breakage I've discovered was a couple of shot glasses, but in the big picture of things, I'm extremely pleased, the cost was very reasonable, and I would recommend Aviv to anyone! read more

It was such a pleasure to work with Aviv for our move. Any move is a hassle and nerve racking and the team at Aviv made it simple. The front office was highly communicative and the team that packed, loaded and unloaded worked quickly, had high energy and positive attitudes and were respectful at every turn. Jose and Mario were part of our pack team and were excited to see that made the trip for the unpack. Our move was from MA to SC and had the added complexity of storing our belongings for 3 weeks with a VERY specific unload date. Part of my decision to go with Aviv was that they would be only one company involved in our move. For the nationwide carriers, 2 or 3 different companies would end up handling our belongings through the duration of the move. This made Aviv the favorite; their quote being less was an added bonus. The overall work ended up being less than quoted and when the truck was loaded, I knew exactly what I was paying at the final destination. No add ons, or surprises. My husband and I just moved within South Boston and used Aviv Moving. I received a couple of quotes from other moving companies and Aviv's pricing was easily the best. Saida was the one to help me on the phone from Aviv. She was so friendly and easy to work with. Our move date changed due to some delays with contractors at the new location, and Saida made the rescheduling easy and seamless. On the day of the move Braulio and his team showed up promptly and got right to work! Not only were they efficient and friendly, but they were very careful with all of our belongings. Nothing was damaged during the move even though we have a very steep and narrow staircase. I don't know if you can request a specific team or not, but if you can, ask for Braulio! He and his guys are awesome! I was a little concerned initially that I would be getting discount quality service because the price was so competitive, but that was not the case at all! i have to commend aviv movers for an outstanding job and making our move so successful. first they were punctual on arrival and called us. they took each piece whether it was a sofa, chair, setee, china hutch , or roll top desk a d wrapped it and did everything to make sure nothing would arrive broken. each piece was strapped and belted in to prevent moving. our hand packed totes were treated with the same outstanding care my wife was waiting at the house and they travelled from malden to cape cod and arrived promptly. they put the furniture where ever she wanted. they even tweeted a couple of spots. it was a pleasure working with this company. the price was right. it was cheaper for this move which included 90 miles of travel than a move my son made from waltham to framingham with less pieces. bravo to AVIV MOVERS. i would highly recommend them read more

I was very happy with the local movers. But they use third party drivers/movers outside of the local area, which is problematic. I had total of three deliveries, one local and two out of state. Both out of state deliveries requested additional fees for some concocted services. In one location I firmly said no, and they didn't insist, but in another one the driver disappeared for 28 hours, and when he showed up he requested even more than he did initially. Aviv asked me to pay him, and compensated me later, but this whole story could've been avoided if Aviv could control those drivers and set up the delivery cost and conditions beforehand. So, I highly recommend them for the local moves, but for the out of state moves one needs to double check beforehand if there will be any additional charges, some of which make sense but many don't. read more

Third time we have used Aviv Moving & Storage and they are hands down THE BEST! Everybody from the administration to the conscientious, hard working crew are fantastic. The whole process was seamless and stress-free--what more can I say? Plenty! The crew is fast, timely and professional. And as always, they took such care with the furniture and fragile items. I have moved many times over the years sometimes involving storage units--this company is the only one who expertly packs and unpacks a storage unit. Usually there is some item that gets broken or damaged--not with AVIV! This past move involved transferring my 90 yr old mother to another assisted living facility out of state. Aviv moving was the best! Initially they had given me a 3 hour arrival window and ended up calling me an hour before the expected arrival letting me know they were on their way. It was so nice to have them in early and get the moving process started. They came with a large truck and 3 very friendly men who carefully covered and taped down all valuable items and furniture. The best part was how speedy and efficient they were and so politely responsive to where I wanted everything placed in my new home. The best decision I made my entire move was hiring this moving company! They were awesome from the first phone call to the last piece of furniture moved into my new place!!! They were very professional ,on time, gentle with my things, they were in communication the entire time and the price was fair and there was no "pop up" extra charges !!!!! I recently moved during the covid-19 in Massachusetts. First Yariv the relocation specialist was very responsive to my phone calls and emails. He sent estimates in detail. Everything was as he stated in estimate, no surprise of overcharge. Second, the three guys sent for the move on time to the minute. Very veryf friendly, fast and careful with items being moved, from computer, sofa etc. My only regret is that I failed to tip these guys after job completed. They moved a 90" x 42" x 1" Glass dining tabletop weighing nearly 200 pounds up two flights of stairs with great caution and ease. The movers were extremely helpful in getting it centered on the existing stands exactly to our requests. It took time and some finessing to get it right and they never appeared agitated or ready to head for the door. The move happened even earlier in the day than we were originally told, which was a good thing for this project! The move also came in under the quoted estimate! Aviv movers are by far the BEST moving company I have ever hired. They are honest, dependable, and helpful. They never tried to charge more they we agreed and were efficient experts. They assessed what I had already packed and wrapped to ensure that my belongings went undamaged. I appreciate that fact that these gentleman offered advise on the safety of un-replaceable family heirlooms. They handled my belongings with care and consideration. Excellent service. Movers were in the property on time. They were incredibly helpful and careful. They were more mindful of not scratching the hardwood floor even more than I was. The price was great. I was in a 2 bedroom apartment, they sent a 3 men crew with a big truck, which made the moving very efficiently. It was clear that they were looking to make my experience great and not to charge more hours. I am very happy with AVIV and I will recommend them in a heartbeat.
