I still am so very impressed by this concept of avocado everything. It's such a fun place to be in, and every time I come here I see something new. I got here at noon on a Sunday and it was bustling! After we ordered, it took about 20 minutes to get our food. It seemed a bit long to wait but the place was packed. I ordered the Avocado Buddha Bowl and it was a delicious blend of flavors. I just wish it had come with a bit more dressing since the bowl was so full of fresh ingredients. Sadly, they had run out of silverware so we had to use their plastic packet of plastic utensils. One thing to note is that on the ordering screen they automatically have the 20% tip checked, so if you don't want to pay that amount, you need to click on a different percentage or click on the custom button. I absolutely love the ambience here, with how natural everything feels, including the little glass vases with avocado pits germinating. One other minor thing to note is that they have a section near the window with a high-top counter and high-top chairs. We tried sitting there at first but once the food came, realized that either the chairs weren't tall enough or the counter was too high and my face was only inches from my food dish. So, we had to move to a booth. All of the staff I interacted with were incredibly helpful and friendly. read more

We enjoy supporting small businesses and family owned restaurants and shops. This is part of the reason we stopped at Avocado Theory - we thought this was an interesting concept, and we had heard of another location in Naperville. We were celebrating a birthday in the family, and we didn't realize that this was counter service, rather than a sit-down place, but that's our error from the descriptions available. The food was above average, and we ordered many different dishes in our party of four. Also, the decor is interesting with fun facts about avocados, and even a free sticker bin. But here's some constructive criticism: - similar to another reviewer's experience, when we paid at the counter, the cashier selected a 20% tip for us. Now, we tip generously on a regular basis, but it was off putting to have the cashier turn the payment screen before we had a chance to choose and select it for us. Especially at a counter. - we noticed that there were some cleanliness issues during our visit -- no paper towels in a rest room; and a sign for two infused waters, but only one water was available. The ice machine water tray was overflowing water on to the floor. The sampler platter we were given looked vastly different from another one in a different review - ours had the sauces slapped on the serving platter and dripping off one side when presented, while another reviewers' photo shows the sauces in bowls on the platter. This would have been more appetizing and less sloppy. - we had to ask for utensils and napkins repeatedly as dishes were brought out without. - one of us ordered the salmon entree. It tasted good, but the sauce was so abundant and heavy. The included asparagus was kind of anemic looking. Avocado was included, but it was sliced and placed on the side of the dish as an afterthought. A better option would be less sauce--but maybe an avocado crema or aioli would be more appetizing and highlight the avocado concept better. We want businesses like these to succeed. We might stop in again, but if the next visit isn't improved, that might be our last. read more

Stopped in for a quick bite before heading to a show. Decided to check this place out. Food was decent, I thought mine needed a little more flavor, but he didn't mind his or mine, lol. The staff was really nice and helpful when asking what they recommended. We asked the young lady who was sweeping the dining area. The place is well lit with plenty of seating for dining in which we did. Prices are reasonable, but watch the screen when paying because they automatically add the 20% tip (you'll need to adjust accordingly). They do offer catering as well. read more

I loved that all the dishes were made with fresh ingredients. The ride bowl was the best value for portion. It made the salmon toast look dismal. The Chicken Philly was tasty and generously seasoned-- perhaps a bit too peppery for my liking. The tapari plates were unique-- leaves woven together with bamboo slivers. The service was good. We were offered free samples of avocado brownies and avocado cheesecake. The brownies were a bit sandy but the cheese cake was delightful. Definitely had more of a hint of avocado, but it was enjoyable. There are long tables and benches/chairs that accommodate larger groups. I like that there was ample seating for small and bigger groups. I thought the high wall on the counter was strange for the first thing you see when you go to order. It felt like the staff workers were barricaded in. The solid wall does not give a very welcoming or inviting feel. However, the rest of the decor was fun and interesting. We just wanted somewhere quick to eat before visiting Ryerson Preservation Area. Avocado Theory was nearby, and I do love an avocado toast, so we decided to give it a try. It wound up being such a pleasant surprise! First of all, the restaurant really ran with the avocado theme throughout, from the menu, to the salt shakers, and the merch for sale (including house made beauty products!). As soon as we walked in and started looking over the menu, we were immediately greeted and asked if we had any questions. The service we received remained pleasant and courteous throughout our dining experience. It was a beautiful day, so my husband and I ate outside on the small patio. This gave us the chance to enjoy Fat Rosie's energetic music from next door, along with the overall garden-like setting of the shopping center. I got the Tomato Basil Avocado Toast. It hit the spot, with the toast itself especially standing out - it was sourdough, either toasted on the grill or in like a panini press. I'm gonna have to start packing my own Tajin though, because I love it on my avocado toast, and although Avocado Theory actually had a wall of various hot sauces, I did not spy any Tajin (nor did I ask if it was available). My husband got the Avocado Peach Salad. The thin sliced peaches were delicately sweet, and overall this was a flavorful and filling salad. This is a horrible restaurant. Extremely overpriced and they 100% use pre-made guacamole. It tasted like the avocado spread at Costco. It says fresh made on the menu but it was not and it was gross. Buddha bowl was $21 with two small falafel balls. Soup was from a can with a bag of frozen mixed veggies added it. Egg rolls were mediocre. Only good stuff was the desserts and the mushroom avocado panini. On top of that, this horrible meal cost $80 and the staff couldn't have cared less when we told them. read more

If you like avocado, this is the place to be! We tried the avocado egg rolls, chips and guacamole, and the signature avocado chicken panini. Service was great and the manager who greeted us was very friendly. We love that everything is very healthy and has good flavor. The food is delicious...Honestly, anything with avocado just hits, and they do a great job making everything taste fresh and flavorful... Free fruited waters complimentary it tastes like regular water but still a nice idea ( you get your own water). They just opened this location a couple days ago, but they are already showing more promise than most restaurants of this type. They sell mostly vegetarian, vegan, and dairy free dishes, but they do serve carnivorous proteins as well. The restaurant is clean, the food is of quality, and the service is very nice and friendly.
