First time at this business and had a bit of a hit and miss with my order of four donuts. The donuts themselves were good but one of the four donuts I ordered was effectively a half donut and looked like it had been broke in half. The person putting the donut in my bag had to have seen this and should never have done this or alternatively gave me a full donut to go along with the half donut. I would have given this business four stars but I ended up taking half off, similar to my half off donut I got from this business.

I was reading Yelp's top 50 donut shops in the US. We were visiting Pontiac and there was Avon on the list. So, we had to try it! Super fast service, great selection and the donuts and small cinnamon roll were delicious! We sat in a stool, looked out the window and enjoyed our donuts.

Wow is all I can say to describe this place. I didn't think Michigan had a great doughnut scene, but man was I wrong. This place rivals some of the best doughnut places in Portland and Chicago that I've had. Hands down the best doughnut spot in Michigan. Everything they make is fresh, knowing that you need to get here early. If you come after 11am, you probably won't get your pick of doughnuts. If you get in early, you must get a glaze doughnut because there's a chance you can get it warm. That itself is worth getting up early for because it's incredible. Outside of the glaze, you really can't go wrong with any of their doughnuts but my favorite has to be the Glazed Red Velvet and Double Chocolate. Tried the fruity pebbles one just to try it, it's cute and great for a picture but there are better tasting ones. The service is also incredible, while this place is popular, I've never had to wait more than a minute to order. You're pretty much in & out if you want to be - they also have a few tables in there if you want to hang out a have a cup of coffee, Can't wait to keep coming to this place!! What a treat.

I've been here a couple of times. It's a small gem on Woodward Ave across from M1 concourse. They have a great selection of donuts. It's a very popular spot so get in there, make your decision, pay, then get out of the way. There are a few chairs to sit and eat your donuts and drink your coffee but I would recommend getting it to go. It's just too busy in there to really enjoy it. It's fast pace and loud environment. I can't wait to go back and try more items on the menu.

A Woodward tradition anytime me and the boys meet up on Saturday or Sunday. We meet at Avon donuts they always have a great selection of donuts they're always fresh and if you don't get there, they'll be sold out. So get up there early if you want first, Pickens.

We dropped in at 9 AM on Friday and only a couple of items were out. I was kind of worried that everything would be out given all the reviews of people lining up before the shop opens, but luckily almost everything was still in stock! We picked a half dozen donuts - some more yeasty, some more cakey. The yeasty ones are my favorite - nice sugar glaze crunch exterior combined with a soft and pillowing, yet somewhat chewy interior. And of these, the special seasonal strawberry was the best. But all donuts were delicious. You really can't go wrong with purchasing anything at Avon Donuts.

I cannot believe I haven't reviewed Avon Donuts yet?! It's my favorite donut place ever! I love supporting small businesses, and while there is no drive thru, the wait time is shorter than the nearest Canadian shop near me that serves more than donuts. Majority of the time I have encountered nice employees, but sometimes they wear their emotions on their sleeves and you can tell they're tired or annoyed with being around people. I don't bring my kids inside much anymore since I never know if the staff will be able to pull out a smile for the little humans or not. Their work is exhausting, I'm sure, but that's the only reason I didn't give 5 stars. They work in that small space all day every day that they may forget it could be someone's first time or they only visit a handful of times each year. I had recommended it to a friend once and her first time going was not a great experience. Luckily, the donuts speak for themselves and are so delicious that they are worth going back for. I love that they have a good variety of options! Pro Tip: since it's a small, family run business be sure to check out their Facebook page to see if they're open. They may close for various holidays or events.

Hell no!!! They gave me a donut that was moist, and crunchy I thought it was good until I looked on the side of it, it was green and customer service was dog and when I want up to her she said it's not mold it's the apple fritter. read more

Been wanting to try out the donuts here for a while now. The boyfriend grabbed us a half dozen to munch on back home. We got the apple topped glazed donut, glazed strawberry, fruity pebbles, blueberry, red velvet, and a sour cream old fashioned donut. I was really impressed with how soft and fluffy each donut was--it's no surprise why they're so highly reviewed. Of the six that we got, my favorite would have to be the simple glazed strawberry donut. The texture and sweetness was on point. Come early since they do sell out. My boyfriend went around 10:30am on a Sunday and they had already ran out of some flavors that I wanted to try. read more

I went back to Avon Donuts again -- earlier this time -- and they had a much better selection available. I was thrilled to see that they have both peanut and coconut doughnuts, both of which can be difficult to get. They also had ENORMOUS cinnamon rolls (with different kinds of frosting), and I got another apple fritter, since I've been craving it all week. Alas, this trip also resulted in a trip to the Discount Tire store -- different car, same tire, but at least, it only needed a free repair. Avon Donuts is a rare gem in an area that lacks diversity in donut outlets. They have a wide selection of traditional flavors made daily and often sell out of popular options during the day. If you know what you want, get here early, and even then you might end up having to wait while they're frying up more of what you came in for. A few criticisms against Avon; 1. How often I've been there having to wait for them to finish cooking another batch. Freshness is important, but losing business due to the extra 10-15 minutes to cook more product is a needless shame. 2. The sheer amount of sugar applied to most of the donuts is a but much (for me) unless you're firmly in camp "Krispy Kreme". They do have a few options that won't put you into a sugar coma, but not many. That being said, Avon is an institution and a rare gem in the greater Pontiac area. read more

These donuts were very underwhelming. What was most disappointing is they did not have a good selection available when I showed up at 6:30am. There weren't any custard filled, fruit filled or maple donuts. I was told they wouldn't be ready for another 15-20 minutes. I would not go back to this place even if I did live around here. read more

This is one of those places where it's so good that you don't want to tell anyone how good it is for fear that it won't be your secret anymore. Do NOT get between me and their coconut donuts. Came here again earlier in the morning and I can tell you that their donuts are the softest, melt in your mouth good quality donuts. I prefer yeast donuts over cake because cake ones are usually harder, but even their cake donuts just melt in your mouth. This place is super busy too, so come early to get the best choices. I can't wait to try more of their donuts even though their basic glazed donut is amazing read more

I never realized i live so close to as voted "the best donuts" in Michigan I decided to stop in and grab a box for my staff. Everyone was in love and couldn't decided what to eat. They ended up cutting into all and staring! I sadly didn't get to try any being a vegan :( I'll be back for then for sure!! Would love if you're bored and want to try and creat some vegan yummy ness! Ahhhh-mazing!! Seriously the BEST donuts in the area. I am more than willing and happy to drive 35 minutes to get some of these mouth watering devils. I've been several times and never had a bad experience. Of course, there are flavors I prefer over others, but they're all delicious. I'm a fan of more of their classics: blueberry glazed and iced cocos? Oh and don't forget the coconut. Avon for the win! read more

These are the best donuts in Detroit I love these donuts and the fine people that make these everyday. I have never had anything better and they are listed as # 28 on this survey. The lemon filled ones are so good. The glazed are insane to the tummy. Leave the counter people a good tip as they work hard for the money. If I have forgot anything please feel free to add on. I can say on a high level of authority (ok, that just means I've had a lot of donuts in my day), that Avon Donuts is the best in Michigan... and they really have to be up there for best donuts ever! They are a no-frills shop that doesn't try to be more than what they are - an old-school donut shop offering the best donuts I've ever had. They remind me of QD donuts for those of you familiar with the Lansing area (or like me, went to MSU)... but, at risk of being sacrilegious, these are even better. Try the cherry cake donut, they're my favorite and can be hard to find! read more

Apple fritters FTW!! When the sign says "Sold out often and early" you had best believe it. Get there early (especially on the weekends) and expect to wait in line to get your donuts. My favorite is the apple fritter but you really cannot go wrong with any selection. The coffee is good too. Looking to get your coffee and donut quickly? Don't care about quality or craft? Looking for an overly sugary schmalzty confectioners crappy coffee drink? Better skip this place and head to the Dunkin about 2 miles down the road. I am wholeheartedly convinced that this is the best donut shop in the US. Coming from Houston and Austin, where we had local spots that have made top donuts in the US for years I can say with full confidence that Avon is better. Their light fluffy dough and the perfect amount of glaze is incredible. Their Angel cream-filled is obsessive too. I am so glad this place is so close, although it will be dangerous considering how yummy they are!! read more

The last couple times I've been on my way to work, they were SOLD OUT (8/9am). Got my hands on some today. Fresh, fluffy, and delicious- they're like a drug. I seriously enjoy this place more than the "fancy" modern donut shops that have opened up in metro Detroit. A large variety of flavors (I suggest coming by 7 am for that), and friendly service. 10/10 recommend. read more

The lady with glasses was very rude, she was talking to two customers that had already made there purchase. I stood there waiting right in front of her, she wouldn't acknowledge me at all. Another customer came in and sat at the stool (he was a regular clearly) she addressed him by name and kept talking to the other two customers and then they walked out. She looked at me and was like sorry about that, I proceeded to tell her what I wanted and she continued to talk to a staff member from the back who came out to the front to order donuts. This was my first time and it wasn't a good experience. read more

No donut shop will ever compare to Avon. You have to go at around 10am if you want all the really good donuts, they sell out of the best ones really fast. Loved them so much that I got them catered on a donut wall at my wedding. Soft dough and flavors don't overpower. read more

Ranked #4 from Time's "Top 10 Best Donut Shops in America", this place really lives up to the ranking. I stop here every once in a while to bring a dozen donuts in to work. For regular donuts, cost is reasonable at $14/dozen. Just be sure to get there before 7AM or the line will be out the door and you may miss out on a popular flavor that's sold out. read more

The staff greeted us from the kitchen and walked towards the counter to help us. The seating is limited, but we were able to relax in the cozy sitting area with fireplace. Lots of light; bright, and vibrant colors. They offer ice cream too. Overall, excellent.

I Love only two things in Life, Beautiful women and delicious DONUTS!. I'm from the south side of Livonia district. "Lucky Me" My wife just had a life threatening cankles surgery (yes, I kidd you not). She was on bed rest for 3 days, which gave me time to explore this certain part of Pontiac. Just down the street from the hospital, I found Avon Donuts. The Building isn't hard to miss, painted puke brown colour with large OPEN signs in the windows. But never judge a books by it cover, because this place is ranked top 5 Donut shop on my list. I got a dozen mixes, all the donuts were fresh & delicious, decently proportion. My favorite is the "Long johns" with cinnamon rolls coming in at a close 2nd, while Coffee is decent. Manager and employees is nice and friendly. I visited my wife all 3 days, while she was the hospital. She thought I was "Best Husband Ever!", REALLY, I was there for the donuts. Hope she never see this. read more

My, I and my friend went here and it was horrible!! their service there is not how I expected it to be. first of all, the donuts were cold, who likes cold donuts!!?? second of all, the donuts had way too much frosting, and the ones with cream inside had one drop of frosting in them which is absolutely gross. I and my friend decided that we are never going there again because we are pretty sure she got food poisoning there and I don't want my friend to be sick because they have such bad service!! This is a family owned Donut Shop. Koi & Ling run the business. They are very friendly. They make the best quality donuts in the whole area. They have fresh coffee all the time.
