He's helped me with my car issues more than once, and overall my experiences with Avo have been great. He's very upfront and explains things in a way that actually makes sense, so you understand what's going on with your car. He doesn't try to upsell or push unnecessary work, which is rare these days. Truly an honest mechanic. I originally found him through AAA, and he's been excellent ever since. His prices are reasonable, and I've always felt treated fairly. I also go here regularly for my routine tune-ups. One important thing I do want to mention: I once made an appointment to get my brakes done, but Avo was out that day. One of the employee mechanics tried to charge me way more than the normal ballpark price and was pressuring me to get the work done right away. I knew roughly what it should cost, so I decided to hold off and picked up my car. When I spoke to Avo about it, he apologized and explained that his employees are skilled at working on cars but aren't always good at quoting prices. He even offered my next tune-up on him, which I really appreciated. Since then, I haven't had any issues. Because of that experience, I strongly recommend asking specifically for Avo -- he's the owner. Personally, I prefer dealing directly with him and don't recommend going through the employee mechanics for estimates or decisions. I had the pleasure of dealing with Mr. Avo's himself to fix a broken tail light for my car, the entire plastic casing had to be replaced and I had the part already. I've been to Avo's shop on several occasions, mainly for routine maintenance and keeping my Lexus driving like-new despite the many miles on it. I recently took my car in for a coolant reservoir replacement and the experience was seamless. He and his team have always been professional and honest, which I really appreciate. I'm not an expert on cars, but I hate the feeling of driving into an auto shop and the mechanics upcharging on services. I've never had this issue with Avo and his team, as they've always been fair and honest with me, which shows excellent customer service and the honesty in their work. Making an appointment is very simple, you can either text them or go on their website. They can get very busy, but there is a waiting area next to the garage as well. The shop is tucked away behind/adjacent to a gas station/car wash, and driving into the shop may be a tad difficult if there's a line at the car wash, but it moves fast. I have brought my cars to this shop on a few occasions and every time I did it, when I got them back there seemingly was some other minor issue that would develop soon afterward. It was almost like they were sabotaging my vehicles to have me come back. I convinced myself that maybe that was just my mind playing tricks and they were just coincidences. I continued to go back because they do offer reasonable prices. However, after my last experience, I would rather pay a higher price at a competent mechanic. I brought my car when the check engine light came on. Avo ran the OBD and notified me that it was an issue with my spark plugs and maybe as a result of me not getting a tune up in a long time. He advised for the tune up and I agreed. Got the car back and paid. Check engine light came back on 2 days later. Went back, Avo now said he saw another code but he just cleared it because he thought the car's computer was wrong. I was bewildered as to why he would not fix what the car's computer was telling him to fix. He now went ahead and "supposedly" replaced what the car's computer was telling him. I get the car back, paid again. 2 days later the check engine light comes back on with same symptoms. I take the car back a 3rd time to which there's another diagnosis. The workers now seemingly disgruntled with me. I'm astonished as to why they would be disgruntled with me when they didn't do their job correctly. I get the car back a 3rd time and notice after I drive off now my front passenger seat is ripped. By the time I notice they're already closed and won't be open til after the labor day weekend. I go over there after the holiday to let them know about the seat. Avo is in denial but is lost for words when I asked him of all the times he's repaired my car if he ever noticed such a big rip and he acknowledged he has not. I leave the car for him to do a suspension job and fix the seat. They call me back in the afternoon callously saying they ordered the wrong parts and I can come get my car. I get there, they didn't even fix the seat. Callously told me they'll contact me when they can work on my car. After that experience I made up my mind I can't let them touch my vehicle again. I read a review on google where a customer caught them on their car's camera driving around doing personal errands and it made me think maybe one of them was doing the exact same thing with my car and ripped the seat. OVERALL: They are incompetent and lure you with low prices. If you value your vehicle, go somewhere else. I was lured by the good reviews on yelp and google but I can't help to think after my multiple bad experiences that most of the reviews are fabricated and fake. read more

Avo responded quickly and asked me to bring my car in the next day since low engine oil can cause great damage. I received a price estimate and determined that price is comparable to what I've paid in the past. This morning, my bf brought in the car at said time, but the mechanics were unaware. if i could leave no stars i would. don't ever take your car here. to start off their new parts they put in to "fix" the car issues you have don't last. we had to take our car back three times to get the same part in because it wasn't lasting. we had also got another part put it that broke less than a week after it being put in. we would have never gone back and trusted them had we not had warranty for the new parts. they don't answer when you ask for updates. it takes days for them to respond and by that point you had texted them three different times on three different days. then they leave out important information on why they think your car isn't working until after you get frustrated with all this until after you pick up your car. worst place to take your car smh read more

I came in with a overheating Toyota Tacoma. Long story short Avo's was able to figure out that the car needed a new head gasket!!! I just bought this truck too, like, minutes after buying it. A head gasket job is a big job. Avos was able to replace all the parts and document to me what was wrong. Great staff here! I wish they lived closer to where I live so I could make them my primary shop. But I had to use this shop because my car I just bought broke down in downtown LA. I had such a great experience with Avo's! My 2008 Prius had it's catalytic converter stolen, and while the insurance had covered those repairs, I was very anxious to install a shield over the new catalytic converter so that it didn't happen again. I had purchased a shield online, and I wanted a mechanic who could install it same-day so there wasn't any time for the thief to return. When I called around, Avo's price was the lowest I found for the installation, and they were able to squeeze me in the same day. The mechanic (sorry I didn't catch his name) was super friendly and knowledgeable. He took me into the shop floor where my car was raised up on a jack, and showed me why the shield that I had chosen was the best design that he had seen. He had clearly dealt with a lot of these installations, and I feel much better about driving my car around with the shield installed. I would definitely recommend them! read more

Rude obnoxious and unconsidered person. I called Avo for two days. Id chosen him because of the reviews here and because my friend said he was ok. I called and precisely explained my car issue and a model to Avo. I told him that I would have to Uber to work and home if needed. He told me to come. I drove an hour for his shop. When I arrived he kept ignoring me, chatting with another client. Then he told me that he doesn't know how many days this repair can take, that he doesn't know Porsche, that another time I should do a "proper" appointment, even though I called him a day before and half an hour prior coming and he told me to come... I drove away even though I desperately needed repair. I don't think he deserves your trust and money. read more
