From choosing materials to trying to make a new theme fit for the fire damage renovation, it was not a quick, simple or easy job - either for me or for Cardinal. But I appreciate a professional builder and I'm sure they appreciate clients who are engaged and ready to work with them. Make no mistake, construction is a skilled trade and I've had my share of fly-by-night handyman operations. Sound advice would be to ask questions but also educate yourself with the basics so your renovation or project will better turn out the way you envision it. All the construction on my condo was done with formal permits through the City and I'm elated to say that all the repairs have been completed and the condo has passed final inspection. He coordinated everything seamlessly--concrete, pump, and even helped us out when my crew left tools behind in another town by quickly getting us what we needed on site. That level of responsiveness goes a long way when you're trying to keep a job moving. Super easy to communicate with, quick response times, and overall just a great team player. If I could give six stars, I would. I really wish his company was closer to where we typically work--I'd use him every single time. Also, for context--most of the reviews I saw were from homeowners. Then in disputing the unapproved billing for dry rot repairs in violation of state law, I asked for a copy of the permit. My work was completed two weeks after my husband died on May 18, but the permit is dated June 29, the day after I requested it--also in violation of state law. Now they apparently are not seeking to finalize the permit while they squeeze me to pay for unapproved work. Be aware, they are very nice people but if they make a mistake they don't want to admit anything.

Carl and Frank came about a week after completion and advised there was dry rot and it was an additional 25 hrs due to dry rot, which with materials was over $4,000 over the contract price. For the work I can see it looks wonderful - however as most people can imagine I was shocked at the final amount over contract. They need to communicate better with customers especially if the contract amount increases at such a rate that might be hard for some homeowners on a limited budget!
