Superior experience here! My daughter was only 6 days old but we had to get my prescription because annual benefits were about to expire. Every single member of staff went above and beyond to accommodate my mother in law and and I by helping with mom bag and baby carrier. They dimmed lights and offered a quiet area for us if needed. Dr Ami Shaw was so calm and relaxed and did a thorough exam without wasting time. Julie and Lexi were welcoming, friendly, and professional. Gaby made paperwork a breeze. The following week I brought my husband back and even though they were booked solid they made time to perform his exam while Michelle helped me narrow down functional and fashionable frames that took into consideration my needs and preferences. Dr Viraj Shaw showed personal interest and was personable and informative. The Optometrist are Ok but the office staff needs to improve their customer service and communications. I always have a hard time to find a pair of frames that I like since their frames selection is very limited. If they order some frames, it takes them forever to call you back to let you know they came in and then it takes them over a week to give you an appointment to come in to try them. Next time, I will ask for my prescription and get my glasses from some place else or go to another optometrist office. read more

I highly recommend Dr. Shah. I have been a patient for years and absolutely love Axis Eye Care. Dr. Shah is professional, funny, helpful, and extremely knowledgeable. He is very personable and each visit is like catching up with an old friend. I trust him with my family's eye care needs. I recently brought in my infant son with me and Dr. Shah conducted his first eye assessment for free. He was very gentle and kind with my son. Love this place! My 5 year old son and I have been seeing Dr Shah (the Mr.) and my husband has been seeing Mrs. Dr. Shah for the last 3 years. They are amazing. Both of them are so nice and accommodating. They are very thorough during the exam but also very personable. Mr Shah has been seeing my son since he was 2 and my son absolutely loves going to him. It's the only doctor visit I don't have to bribe him with ice cream. My son got pink eye over the weekend and they were able to see him Monday morning even though they don't normally see patients Monday. Front Desk Staff: Always friendly. Front desk staff is always friendly over the phone and in person. I can tell that they love working there. They always give prompt greetings as soon as you enter the door. I have dropped by multiple times to get my glasses adjusted and they always take care of me. Doctor: Amazing! Doctor is amazing. He's always in a good mood and always greeting his patients. Any doctor can give you an eye exam but only few can win your loyalty and he has won mine. He is very professional and caring. Our 6 year old (Micah) was poked in the eye with a stick at the playground and his eye was scratched. He was also in pain. He had no eye issues so I was naturally concerned and took him to Dr. Shah. I received an emergency appointment 2 hours after I frantically searched for an eye doctor. When making the appointment, the front office staff were thoughtful, concerned and professional....compassion and service during a frantic time. For some reason when I called there was some confusion on whether my insurance would pay the claim to their office. This was a total mixup on the part of my insurance company's part. Although Axis could have discouraged me from keeping the appointment or been hesitant, they did not hesitate or make me feel like my son was not welcome. The way they patiently handled getting the insurance questions answered was huge for a mom worried about her son. It helped ease my stress and anxiety level. I kept the appointment and then called the insurance and got it all straightened out. Dr. Shah was super patient and gave my some something for the eye pain and a prescription to help heal the tear in his eye. Dr. Shah was upfront about the tear being pretty large but also reassured us there would be no permanent damage. Later that night Dr. Shah called to check on Micah about 8ish. Wow! That was certainly unexpected but so needed. We had to go back 2 more times over the next week to have his eye checked for possible infection and the rate of healing. Each time we were met with the same patience, professionalism and service. As a result of our experience with the front office staff and Dr. Shah's excellent service and great compassion, we have decided to take our entire family of 5 to his practice. We have already been back for eye exams for my other son. Lastly, Dr. Shah asked me very directly what he could do to improve his service and our experience. My answer: NOTHING! This was my first time ever going to see an eye doctor, my boyfriend and I went to get our eyes checked and see if we needed glasses. The place is very nice, well lit, clean and has a great variety of different frames to choose from. The staff was very friendly and helpful from the beginning and many of them spoke Spanish (including Dr. Viraj Shah) which is a definite plus since my bf knows little English. Dr. Shah was SUPER friendly and has a cool, funny personality. We felt very at ease with him and he explained everything very professionally, but in a way we could understand. They have various upgrade options which they recommended, and I felt Dr. Shah clearly cared for our eye health. I LOVE this place. The staff are friendly, knowledgeable, and efficient. They really care about giving you the best service, and the best options for you within your insurance parameters. The office is well versed with media. I scheduled my appointment online, and I got a text reminder, as I'd requested. They greeted me as soon as I walked in the door when I arrived. Their variety in frames was A-mazing. Designer brands, but still non-designer brands as well that still look pretty slick. My eye doctor was funny, relatable, highly intelligent, and made the visit very easy and enjoyable. The exam was thorough, informative, and though the best options were provided to me, there was no pressure to purchase anything that my insurance didn't cover. Seriously, I love this place. I was in a bad mood when I left my house to go to my appointment, by the time my appointment was over, my mood had flipped 180. I had forgotten what had even upset me earlier. Great place. This is my second review for Axis Eye with Dr. Shah. It's been 4 years since my last review and I can honestly say the same thing. He's a genuine doctor who is so nice and professional. Only thing happened the past 4 years is that he moved to a bigger location with more selection of eye wear. He's still a great doctor. It's been 9 years and i will never change doctors unless he retires but he's still young,Ii have many more years with him. =) I refer my whole family to him and soon I will have him see my first baby as well. I was in Elk Grove for a wedding and happened to develop an eye infection of epic proportions (constant irritation, pain, swelling, watering [and other fun stuff ...]). I found this optometrist through Yelp and was able to come in for an appointment in just ten minutes. Dr. Viraj Shah was incredibly helpful. He examined my condition, fully explained what was happening, gave me a prescription, and had his assistants clean my glasses. The level of professionalism at this place is exceptional. Anyway, the prescription worked, I was able to go to the wedding with my condition having subsided, and I was completely fine the next day. Truly grateful for Dr. Shah helping me out during a truly uncomfortable situation while I was out of town. read more

I've been Dr. Viraj Shah patient for about 3 years. Don't let their nice treat make you full. Dr. Shah make you to come to the office for no real reason by finding some thing and scare you of that. Then they play with you and show that they are really concern about you. They are just concern about money. after they convince you that Dr. should see you in 3 weeks and "your insurance cover you" or "your copay is only $50" and do it a gain and again. you will be suspicious if I'm in such dangerous situation why Dr. don't send me to see an specialist? then at the end of the year the insurance send a big bill and you notice the office send the bill to the insurance because they know that if they say you have to pay $300 just for one extra visit you might not come again and might want to see another doctor as an second opinion or might not come at all. I had been suspicious of Dr.'s behavior. It looks some how strange to me playing back and fort made me wait for an hour to give me a letter for specialist then instead tell you come in 3 weeks I will give you then and then he refuse to give you the letter and tell you to come for another checkup in 3 weeks again then I will send you to specialist and so on and on and on. Dishonesty is one of the worst thing that a Dr. can have and I've seen dishonesty. They didn't lost only one patient they lost at least 6 for now. read more

Dr. shah is the best! He is so funny, personable, knowledgeable, and a good listener. He takes the time to spend the extra few minutes explaining the decisions he is making in regards to prescription changes. It is difficult to get an appointment because they are always so busy but the extended hours is appreciated.
