Dr. Shah and his team are awesome. They provided excellent service and made me feel valued.

My husband and I are new patients here. Things that I liked: everyone was very friendly and helpful, the office is clean, well-organized, wait was minimal and they have a good selection of glasses. Dr. Viraj Shah spent a considerable amount of time with us. Things that I didn't like: they really push you to purchase additional services. We were brought into the back for our appointment by a woman who performed some tests and asked us several questions. She mentioned that we could pay extra for a retinal scan test (I think that's what it is called) that would not be covered under our insurance. Both my husband and I said no thank you and she appeared to note that in our records. Then when the doctor took us back for our appointment, he again asked us if we wanted the scan and proceeded to explain why we should have it. We felt somewhat pressured-after we had already said no. I have been a contact lens wearer for 35 years. I have worn the same brand of tinted lenses for probably 20 years. The doctor told me that the contacts that I wear are inferior and that I didn't need tinted lenses because my eye color was pretty as it is. I tried to explain that I am very happy with my contacts and I do want the tinted lenses, but, it seems like he doesn't listen. In fact, both my husband and I felt like he's a much better talker than a listener. I read that other patients think he's very funny and caring, but, throughout the appointment, I felt like he was somewhat condescending. He called me "darling" and told me a couple of times "if you were my sister....". The whole thing was weird and made me uncomfortable. It seems like he has a "I know what's best for you" attitude instead of listening to what you want. Maybe some people think that it's caring. I see it as insulting. Its perfectly acceptable to SUGGEST something, however, when your patient explains that they like or want something different, and it isn't affecting their health, you should LISTEN and ACCEPT. I received my glasses and I am happy with them so far, however, I will be looking for an optometrist who listens, treats me with respect, accepts my decisions, and doesn't pressure me to spend more money. read more

Great experience! I read numerous reviews looking for a local optometry office. Finally decided on Axis. So glad I did. Dr. Shah came out to greet us and offered tips on frames even though we weren't getting an exam. Julie assisted my husband with his frames and she was excellent. Didn't try to push the more expensive frames just the best frames for him. Didn't up sale just extras he truly wanted. I left feeling good about the purchase. read more

Okay, I know the doctor for 4 years since they used to be next to Nugget market. He is very knowledgeable and expert in what he is doing. However, last time I visited him, they were so crowded, and overbooked. Also, I felt they wanted to sell me frames and contact lenses. I believe they are care more about money. Went in with my young kids and my prescription to pick out frames, discouraged that it was probably going to be a difficult day. I was so wrong! The staff was incredibly helpful. There's an amazing selection of frames, even small/ petite frames. Find Julie to help you; She was so personable and found me the perfect frames. She gave my kids snacks and coloring books, and even fixed my old frames when she noticed they were sliding down my nose. Parking isn't too bad, even in the middle of the day. Overall, I'd say to go to Axis Eye group if you want the absolute best customer service and experience! read more

If I was able to give them zero stars, I would. The staff is friendly enough and it's very easy to book an appointment with them, but other than that, this place is horrible. I went to see this optometrist in January. I told him I was having trouble driving, especially at night and I also couldn't see my phone. I didn't feel like he listened to me at all and was constantly talking and asking me the same questions (as if he forgot he already asked me). He gave me a prescription for distance and about a week later, I returned telling him that not only could I still not see my phone and/or a book, but that the glasses made my near vision worse. I received a second pair of lenses and had the same problem but was told this was normal and I didn't need reading glasses yet. In June I finally got so frustrated that I called VSP and asked them to authorize a second opinion, which they did and as it turns out, I DO NEED READING GLASSES! I called Axis Eye Care and asked them to refund me for the glare coating, as I didn't feel like I should have to pay that fee for my new glasses again, especially since the prescription he gave me was wrong and they responded by say they would not refund that fee because, "they don't offer refunds." Needless to say, I will not be returning there. read more

Dr. Shah is extremely compassionate towards his patients. I made the mistake of missing my appointment twice over the span of a year for various reasons however Dr. Shah was extremely forgiving and even gave me a personal call to ensure everything was okay. This place is the only place that i've spend so much money here and they messed up on my charges making it cost more than ever and delays my glasses wont send it in even though they are the ones that made the mistake and wont give me my prescription in person paid 400.00 but walked out with nothing. Stopped in on Saturday looking to purchase glasses. I had my eye exam done at a different place so I was just looking for glasses. The selection is very small, about a third of the other places in town. It's also very crowded in there even with only a few people in the store. I found some glasses I liked and sat down to go over cost etc.. The lady who helped me was rude and quoted me the highest possible price on lenses, anti-glare etc. My prescription is very light so I kept asking her why I needed the higher priced lenses, all she could say was "better optics". I asked her to define or explain what better optics meant and she could not, just kept repeating "better optics". I finally gave up and left. We ended up at another place a few miles down the road and they had the exact same glasses for 30 dollars cheaper and they actually knew what they were talking about. I do not recommend this place at all. Rude staff, high prices, lack of knowledge. read more

Very impressed with this place. Dr. Shah was very thorough and I left with a new prescription seeing better than when I arrived. Their staff is very pleasant and professional. I had moved to a new home and needed to find an optometrist closer to home. My sister in law recommended Dr Shaw. He was very friendly and personable, he fitted me with contacts, and did a great job. I have some special issues, cornea transplant, and kerakitonis. He helped me to get the proper contacts, provided three fittings which improved my eyesight each time, and worked with my coverage to provide them at a very low cost. He was very knowledgeable in regards to my conditions. I love their new location bigger with more of a selection. I am seeing better than I have in years. I highly recommend them.
